My 9 year old & I had a fantastic few days here: relaxing, diving & chilling out in a superb location. Rooms are right on the shoreline with amazing views from the balcony, even from the bed we could hear & see the waves lapping on the deck. Rooms are basic in a "rustic" shabby chic Mediterranean villa design, some rooms have AC but the units are pretty noisy so leaving the balcony doors open is a cheaper option. Its only a small place which gets busier at weekends with the Manila divers but there are lots of chill out areas with hammocks so its easy to find somewhere to relax and watch the waves or the sunset. Dive team were great and took us on several action packed dives, we even saw a HUGE turtle on the house reef just while snorkelling ! Food is all inclusive, good &

Response from diveaddiction, Owner at Portulano Dive Resort

Thanks for your review, and we're glad you enjoyed your stay. Just to let you know, not all the AC units make noise so it would be very helpful if you can send us an email (inquire@portulano.com) if you remember which room you stayed in so we can double check, we've never really had complaints about this except once for 2 rooms in particular, but we've already replaced 1 of them. We are also updating some of the Air Conditioning units. Some brands are more quiet than others and some over time make noise. It's natural wear and tear specially with rooms right at the seafront. We do have Filipino dishes but hopefully next time you visit, depending on your timing you'd be able to sample other dishes. We actually serve only 30% Filipino food. We serve a lot of mediterranean and healthy selections with fresh ingredients. That's why it's quite easy for us to cater to vegetarians, vegan and gluten free eaters. You will find we always have salads, vegetable dishes that are not Filipino recipes, pastas using fresh tomatoes, baked rigatoni, spinach & fish rolls etc. We also don't want to serve a big buffet spread that will jack up the costs, but we'd rather focus on a simple but good selection of healthy and delicious choices for meat, seafood, chicken, vegetables and always with a salad. Thanks again for your feedback and hope to hear from you.

My friend and I are certified divers. The Batangas area offers a wide variety of marine life--even whale sharks and porpoise on occasion, and of course turtles. Also there are hundreds of varieties of fish, shrimp and colorful nudibranchs. The owners Carmella and Arnel are PADI certified Instructors, and Arnel is a professional musician (who plays classical guitar for guests). What more could a diver want at this remote, picturesque resort nestled against a mountain--competent dive masters, and Portulano's Elmer and Choy are ultra friendly, swim like fish and know the area like the back of their hand. Also the food is excellent, and other staff under the Front Desk manager Daisy, go out of their way to make your dive trip enjoyable. Quality dive equipment, Nitrox and three

Hi all this place is amazing. Acomidation 👍meals 8/10 which is really good. Location 10/10. Staff 10/10 diving 9/10. We are currently still here. Wanted to post this sooner than later as this place is amazing. We have 2 more days stay still which I the best thing. It's only 2.5 hr bus from the DLT bus terminal In Manila Then short ride on a 3 wheeler motor bike. For 15 min. Then 10min boat to the resort. After you arrive. That's it all you have to think about is fun and relaxing. Ideal for families. Not for partying as it's a diving location. We will come back 😊

Location: Parking area was easy to locate using the waze app and very secure. Though the resort is one boat ride away, you'll never worry about the vehicle. Boat Transfer: One of the points of improvement they can do is upgrade the boat, atleast to have a tarp roof on the ones that they use for bad weather. Good thing it was only drizzling when we arrived and that the boat ride is only about 10mins. Resort: Superb. Nice mediterranian-ish interiors. Clean. Peaceful. Relaxing. Great view of the sea. Loved that they have a game room/area and that is separate from another area where guests can hang out. Both have a very nice view of the sea. Room: Loved our room, the topdeck seaview. It may be hard to reach since it is at the top floor of the resort, but the view from the balcony

We went there for the weekend to relax and dive as a couple. The place is right on the sea boarder (but no beach) and diving was excellent with really serious and competent dive master(s). The food was included in the room (you get to there by boat) and for that kind of fare in the Philippines, the food was really good. The dessert was nothing to write about, but compensated by an excellent breakfast. Would go back with older kids when the sea is more quiet and the snorkling will be fabulous!

GREAT RESORT FOR A FAMILY BONDING & DIVING. All of the resort Staff and Ms Daisy, the manager are very attentive and provided excellent service. All rooms are charming, very clean, comfortable and has a beautiful oceanview and a veranda. We enjoyed all the buffet meals provided including the afternoon snacks. The short orders like nachos and French fries were yummy. The kitchen Staff paid special attention to my vegetarian Husband and made yummy options for him. My daughters enjoyed their diving education experience. Ms. Carmela provided thorough yet fun PADI Open Water Certification for my daughter and so as Mr. Choy who guided my daughter w her Intro to diving and my husband and son for their shore and boat dives. Our 2 nights and 3 days stay experience was great and we are

Lovely spot for getaway from madding Manila. Flaky internet connection. Menu selection somewhat limited, but ok. Steps! Gorgeous rooms (ceiling to floor folding glass doors) with sparkling outlook to the restless sea.

Portuulano is only 2-3 hours away from Manila and provides an excellent weekend retreat for serious divers. Good staff and solid equipment and great dives in close proximity to the quaint resort. It's no frills but has clean rooms, good food and excellent dive set-up. You can even come back to the resort to spend your surface intervals, which is quite pleasant. The only drawbacks are that you have to take a small boat to get there and that the connectivity is limited (3G to your phone and no TV), but if you are serious about diving for a day or two, it is a nice respite from Manila's hustle and bustle.

WiFi signal is not strong, but is a great place for self reflection. I was there for a diving trip, and only way go get there is via plane to Manila, and a minivan trip to the jetty. Last but not least, 10 mins boat ride to the resort chartered by the resort. Overlooking the sea, it provides great sunrise and sunset view, and waking up to the sound of waves running in and out is just too awesome. Crew is helpful, and if we need anything from the city, the crew is kind to help us get it when they travel out to do errands. They also have a entertainment room which comprises of table tennis, dvd player etc during our non-diving period, and also hammocks for those who love it. Food wise is not comparable with city hotels, but is buffet style and satisfactory.
