An intimate and romantic retreat beside a magical lake Set in the rainforest high above the shores of Lago Petén Itzá is La Lancha, a quaint, 10-room lodge decorated with furniture, fabrics, and carvings from Guatemala personally selected by the Coppola family. Nearby is Tikal, the epicenter of Maya spirituality. Buried deep within the rainforest, the ruins include more than 3,000 structures where moss clings to the steps of ancient temples and plazas. With its beautiful lakeshore setting, relaxed ambiance, and close proximity to the lost world of Maya, La Lancha is an ideal destination to both enjoy a languid pace and explore the many adventures of the Petén region.

We truly had an amazing time at La Lancha! The attention to detail and kindness shown by the staff was outstanding. The property is beautiful, clean, and inviting. The candles lit each evening are a romantic touch. The ambiance is relaxing and warm.

Carlos and Evelyn both went above and beyond to make our visit special. Horseback riding, the sunset boat cruise, el mirador dinner, temazcal, and watching spider monkeys from my hammock were some of the trip highlights.

Pablo is an excellent guide and exceptional birder. His passion for birds and conservation is contagious! We really enjoyed the sunset at Tikal and exploring Uaxactun.

We stayed at Blancaneaux and Turtle Inn in Belize (2019), which are also lovely; however, La Lancha offers a more remote and wonderfully unique experience.

Well you are definitely right, staff at La Lancha is very friendly, attentive, accommodating and always trying to create unforgettable experiences for all our guests from arrival until departure. After two days exploring Tikal, we planned to spend just a single night at La Lancha before heading to Belize. ... but after just an afternoon, night and morning experiencing its many charms, we knew we had to return to stay on our way back from Belize, too. The property is breathtakingly beautiful, with nearly everything oriented toward Lago Peten Itza and the surrounding rainforest. Monkeys, various birds and other wildlife are visible at sunrise and sunset. At night, candles are placed around the property to light the paths, rooms and patios/balconies, and a fire burns at the main dining area. Mayan art -- masks, fabrics, elaborate clothing -- and high-quality but measured furniture are in all the common areas and rooms, as are fresh plants and flowers. We were celebrating our anniversary, and the staff made the room stunningly, romantically beautiful. We stayed in a Rainforest Suite, which has a very comfortable king bed and a fantastically designed bathroom with two separate toilet areas combined in the middle with a large shower that has two shower heads. The water pressure was strong, and the temperature was as hot or cold as you wanted -- a true rarity in the region. The hammock and seating area on the balcony was the perfect place to sit and listen to nature at sunrise, sunset, throughout the day and even at night. So many stars were visible. The property has an amazing Mirador, where I did yoga one morning as monkeys played through the trees. On the other side, it has steps or a funicular down to the lake. The water is warm and clear. You can use a rope swing, paddle boards, canoes, tubes or just lay in the very comfortable chairs. We greatly enjoyed our meals. They are pricier than other places in the area, but the quality and service are deserving of the prices. ... not to mention that at each meal, something extra we asked for didn't get included on the final bill. Everyone treated us so kindly and made our stay truly magical. We are already planning a trip back, perhaps even making it an annual tradition. The pictures we took just don't do it justice -- you will be very pleasantly surprised to find an even more amazing place than what photos show.

Dear EGK56; Thank you so much for the time you have taken out of your busy agenda to share with us your unforgettable experience on your trip to Guatemala, Tikal- La Lancha Hotel. You have got it right- it is just the perfect hideaway, sitting just along the banks of our majestic, emerald green waters of Lake Peten Itza, where one can enjoy much to do such as Sup's, canoeing, rope-swinging, tubing, swimming and why not take a sunset boat cruise and admire the most amazing views whilst the sun gets lost in behind the lush green mountains surrounding the lake. Definitely we have a magical space in which during the day you can appreciate howler and spider monkeys meandering from tree to tree, and lost of bird species, squirrels and iguanas can also be observed. At night time, the entire property is transformed into a magical and romantic space as many candles, light sconces, and fire pit are lit to create a very welcoming atmosphere for our guests to have a placid and romantic time with us. It does give my staff and myself a great satisfaction to know that we have met and exceeded your expectations that have caused for you to return and wanting to come back on a future trip to Guatemala. I will certainly share this amazing review with my entire staff which I know will be a great incentive for them to continue doing their utmost to keep creating more unforgettable experiences at La Lancha. Best Regards,

I had waited years for the opportunity to visit this hotel and it didn't disappoint. The rooms and porches were beautiful. At night they would light candles around the property and turn down the bed. Food was excellent. Spent one day on a tour at Tikal (3rd trip) and I always learn something new. Due to covid, Tikal was very empty. The hotel was peaceful and lots of wild life. Enjoyed another day hanging out by the lake and using the shellphone to order drinks :) The road was a tad bumpy on the way in but well worth it.

Dear JLS123; we at La Lancha really appreciate this very positive and charming comment you have left here regarding your amazing stay at our stunning hideaway. It feels so great to know that you don't regret having chosen our hotel for vacationing, no disappointments, but rather unforgettable memories traveled back home with you. You are right, at night time the ambience here turns out even more charming, romantic and appealing due to the many candles we lit, especially at the main dinning room. Great that despite the covid-19 regulations, you still manged to travel to our 3rd Central American Coppola hideaway, surrounded by emerald green waters and pristine jungle. Tikal is just extraordinary and I bet you enjoyed your 3rd trip to the magestic archeological site Tikal. I know that the last leg getting here is part of a bumpy road, but fortunately government has just started works and it shall be paved during year 2022.. hope that by then you plan a return trip and encounter a smoother ride in to our property, but meanwhile the dirt road is part of the adventure and as well it is worth it once you find yourself indulged at La Lancha!
