Wow! Amazing place. My father recommended this place. Visit Umberto’s place, was one of his last sentences. And we did, such a spiritual place. The rooms are wonderful. But the ambiance, the surroundings make you feel you live in a fairytale. It comforts to be in this real Italian villa with a beautiful garden. We love it!

We have traveled to Aquileia and stayed at Villa Asiola with couple of friends, as we are in love with the town and the area. And this trip was the utter confirmation of this love again and again :)
We have known Umberto, who is the owner of Asiola, from the other time, when we stayed in his other agritouristic accommodation. His villas are exactly as he is - full of character and warmth, easygoing, always looking at people and their comfort first. The villa itself is gorgeous, beautifully renovated with history reaching back to deep medieval times (first mention around 1170s), yet with everything a modern traveler would or could need including newly fitted rooms and bathrooms, amazing coffee at request made by the lovely landlady, dining room with good breakfast, numerous sitting and resting areas inside and in the surrounding garden, even wi-fi and bicycles to borrow if you want to roam around the countryside and Aquileia sites. One of the most amazing features of this place is the peace and quiet. Birds concerts and the fragrances of the country. The archaologists with interesting research, who sometimes stay in the adjoining part, and purring black cats Tom & Jerry, are only another bonus :) Very reasonably priced for the luxury Villa Asiola offers. As for Close to amazing Roman sights in Aquileia (easily and quickly reachable also by bike), close to the fantastic port of Grado with charming medieval streets in the centre or lido-type beaches, if you like that sort of things, out-of-this-world ice cream and vibrant night life. Also close to the lagunas around Grado, a paradise for bird-watchers (bike route all the way from Aquileia to Grado), and a good starting point for day excursions to the city of Trieste (home of Italian espresso), Miramare (the castle of Sissi), Piran in Slovenia, or one of the marinas and beaches along the coast. Simply a place you can totally reset your mind and body.

I was in Villa Asiola this July /2012/ for 5 days and nights and really spent that time in the place which corespondents with unique arts and history of Aquileia. Every day we started with very tasty breakfast which molto gentile signora Carla served for me and Ilona in the nice garden on our request. But also all the inner spaces of villa are amazing. I have been interesting to the architecture since my children age, and although I am a musician now, admire all good things in this way. The rooms are so romantic the restaurant place full of lovely historical items. We also used a special bonus: free bikes, the part of the poject Terre di Aquileia. In 15 min. we could reach centrum of Aquileia and historical monuments without parking problems etc. We would like to come back some day again. Congratulations and thanks to Mr. Umberto. This rustic farmhouse is a tonic after a long journey. Location and hospitality are superb, 10 rooms ample and clean. Corn fields and vineyards make the entire area green, pheasants, hares and doves complete this picture of idyll.

I booked 3 nights for me and my family last year during the winter holiday. The room is large and clean, a tasty breakfast cooked by the owner, who is a grea man! There is a big green area outside so you could enjoy the quietness of this great place! I recoomend it especially for families with children

We came back to Villa Asiola after two years. When you come back to a place, it must be for a reason. There are a few reasons. If you like the noise of a holiday resort and/or the touristic hustle, the place is not for you.
Silence. You can hear your own thoughts. Like a monastery or a Bhuddist temple.
Room. There is so much room in the garden no crowded place will present. Rooms are big enough and tastefully decorated and there are many quiet places around the house where you can spend your time. Hospitality. The landlady, the breakfasts, the coffee on request, the owner - nothing equals their greatness. I truly mean it as I travel for work most of the year. Children and dogs are more than welcome.
Overall: a quiet and hospitable place close to the sea that offers an absolute and complimentary rest. We will definitely miss it until next time.

This place is one of an unimaginable calmness, serenity and beauty, where relaxing comes automatically and naturally. Its owner, the sympathetic workaholic Umberto did a great job in renovating the precious historic villa (from 13th century) and turning it into an elegant understated retreat full of friendly hospitality.
After a day of enjoying swimming at the varied coastline or visiting the nearby cultural variety of Aquileia, Grado, Udine, Trieste, Miramare, Cividale... or the richness of italian food - especially if you in all those years made some close friends there, you return back into the complete stillness of the villa. And you just sit down in the big garden under the tree, sip the wine and gaze at the crescent moon. Then you fall into the deep blue of sleep and dreams in one of modestly stylish rooms just to wake up and listen again to the sound of silence sweetened by singing birds and as the inevitabe aroma of the morning caffe reaches your nostrils you cannot but follow it down the stairs where the lovely landlady immediately offers you a cup of your favorite machiatone or cappucino. If you like, you proceed to the rich and tasty breakfast table. Or you make yourself your own in the garden.
Then you want to spend the whole day there. And you can. Watching the cats playing or archeologists cleaning and drawing their stuff. Yes, the other part of the villa is from time to time inhabited by silent young scholars deeply immersed in their summer study, which only enhances the atmosphere. You could spend days in the villa just hanging around immersed in timelessness, pure poetry. But then again it is worth to get up and jump into the sea or history around. Just to return into in the evening silence and fresh country breeze again. Until the last day of your current stay. And then you leave. Just to come back as soon as possible.
Thank you Umberto, thank you Carla and see you soon:)
