Detailed Reviews

We stayed at this resort for almost three weeks and it was a wonderful stay! Came here with my wife and daughter.
The great:
- The staff was very courteous, friendly, and helpful!
- The aircon was nice and cold
- The food was fantastic, really!
- The views of the ocean were amazing
- Included breakfast was tasty
- Plenty of parking space
The good:
- Prices were reasonable
- Bathroom and shower was adequate
- Booking was okay, but had to call the desk directly or send email.
- Wifi was speedy but spotty at times.
The "meh":
- Tile floors throughout the resort reflects noise a lot. If you have noisy neighbors or the resort is full, it's easy to be disturbed. Not really the fault of the resort but it's something you have to live with.
- They didn't take credit cards, we had to pay cash. Not a big deal, just need to be prepared for that.
The Needs improvement:
- Need more prominent signage on the main road. Resort can be hard to find if you don't know where to look.

Was pleasantly surprised at how this unassuming hotel delivered a wonderful experience for a family trip. Stayed for two nights at the beginning of Holy Week before the crowds came and we had the place to ourselves. The establishment is fairly new, very clean, and seems well-designed so it feels cozy without being cramped--just the right size. Really appreciated the layout of the pool area, with its cluster of cottages facing the sea. Nice, solid wooden tables and benches, thoughtfully placed blinds that you can roll up when the wind gets too strong or when the sun is high. You can work/read here, have meals, drinks, play boardgames with the sea as backdrop. The pool design is great if you have young kids as there’s a good size kiddie pool of about 3 feet that connects to an adult pool that goes at deep as 6 feet. Easy to watch the kids while relaxing on one of the lounge chairs. Meals are served in this outdoor area. Very chill vibe.
Yes, the resort is a beachfront property but there’s only a little bit of a shore that disappears during high tide. I’ve heard about how currents can be strong in La Union, but mornings were generally peaceful during our stay as the tide was low. In the mornings, you can swim out as far as 100 meters from the shore without issues. Sand is fine but dark and a bit mud-like in some parts. Don’t expect a pristine beach as there’s the occasional litter, but at least the sand’s nice and soft, not pebbly or rocky. Not a lot of fish or sea life in general near the property, but there are boats that can take you out to a white beach area that they say is great for snorkeling—about 10-15 minutes by sea from the resort on a small motorized banca. Best to do this as early as you can so the water’s nice and calm. Some family members tried this for Php 500 for an hour-long stay on the white beach area. We also saw a group snorkel about 200-300 meters from shore where you can see them standing in knee-deep water. Would love to try that next time.
Rooms in Jorisan are a gem. Even though we had some issues with the doors (we had to slam ours to as there’s some problem with the latch or something), the rooms themselves were clean, with double and single beds with thick, soft mattresses, and fluffy pillows that made for very restful sleep. Even though our room had a balcony that faces the parking lot that opens to the main highway, we actually felt the place was quiet and secluded—might have to do with the structure itself as walls seemed sound-proof. We took a peek at the barkada rooms (8 people! 2 bathrooms! good space) and the seaside view room (2 people! Great view, really wonderful beach vibe on the second floor)—great options for big groups and honeymooning couples, respectively.
We had most of our meals as breakfast was included. Like most things in the hotel, meals are simple but well-done with basic fare like silog meals served with strong brewed coffee. We had lunch and dinner here. Great pancit! Vegetables in various dishes like kare-kare and diningdeng were cooked just right (full of fresh, crunchy flavor!) and servings are good value for money. If you want to keep things simple, just stay in, order from the resto and enjoy yourself. Or take a ride to any of the restos (1 km away to pagudpud town with its line of seaside restaurants, or ride back to town where fastfood and other familiar restos like Jollibee and Gerry’s can be found.)
All in all, this place is great for relaxing. There’s stuff to do like grape-picking or exploring food stops in nearby towns, or visiting other tourist locations like a nearby temple. But if you’re looking to just stay put and sleep, eat, hangout with family and friends, Jorisan is perfect.
