Wow!! After traveling almost 1200 km non-stop we found this little jewel on our journey to Keetmanshoop. The after-hour reception staff went the extra mile to accommodate us with a warm and friendly attitude. Service was quick, professional and without any hassle. Within a stone throw we got something to eat at the neighboring garage cafeteria and soon afterwards we were all resting comfortably. Next morning we booked out without any delay, filled the car's tank and off we were; feeling fresh and relaxed. I strongly recommend this beautiful and clean little place for a quick stop over on the B1!
We stayed here for one night with our three boys, ages 12, 9 and 9. The rooms are huge, bright, nicely decorated and immaculate. The kitchen is well-stocked and perfect for self-catering. Make sure you bring all your groceries as Grunau has no grocer. We loved it and it was good value at $760 Namibian.
Nice spacious new clean rooms with everything in them for self catering, the Shell petrol station next to it has more than you would expect. Very friendly management.Everything worked.Safe.Definitely recommendable for all sorts of travellers!
After a terrible experience at the 'Grunau Country Hotel', we packed up and headed to the Grunau Chalets... what a sight for sore eyes! New comfortable beds, with white linen, free fast wifi, DSTV and even fresh roses awaited us! The room was very spacious, and the kids enjoyed playing on the luscious green lawn outside! A great stop for the weary traveller.
I was pleasantly surprised by the comfortable beds, the spacious kitchen and large bathroom. All the other comforts like DSTV, air con and wi-fi are available in the chalet. Even though it is located just off the B1, the sound of the traffic is not an issue at all. In spite of the hostess’ reassurance that you’ll be able to shower if you’re patient , I found this to be quite a challenge. Be aware that should you occupy chalet no 12, the shower’s tap lever works in reverse and the tepid water (which is all you’ll get) flows rather weakly. But all in all, aside from the shower issue, this was a very comfortable overnight stay.
This establishment is not called Grunau Motors, but Grunau Chalets. The self catering room are very nicely fitted, and beds and linen of very high quality. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and it was great to be able to buy meat, bread and wood at the reception, as Grunau does not have a Grocer any more - all very reasonably priced good quality. A very nice touch was the free matches and fire lighter with the wood. There were no restaurants in Grunau, but a braai next to a perfectly green law was great/ There was great free super-fast WiFi on the premises. We were also able be leave one of our vehicle on the premises for a week until our return.
We drove from the Eastern Cape to Swakopmund and came to 1000km at Grunau with 1000km more to go. We only arrived at 2:30am without any booking, just tired and looking for a place to sleep. The Guard at the gate opened up and gave us a key to a chalet. Lovely clean chalets with comfortable beds and great bedding! Really such a pleasant surprise. We will definitely make this our regular stop over to all our Namibia trips.
Lovely clean and very comfortable, nice wingback chairs and beds! We have stayed overnight previously, before the new chalets were built and this is definately a great upgrade! Will be staying there again on our yearly trip to Namibia!
We arrived after and incredibly long drive from Sossusvlei through pouring rain. I phoned on the way to make a booking and even though we arrived after nine the guard at the gate checked us quickly and took us to our chalet. What a pleasant surprise! Grunau Motor chalets are modern, clean, neat and spacious. The sheets were crisp and white! The kitchen was well stoked and a jar of home made rusks were also waiting on the counter for us. This is an ideal overnight stop!
The Grunau (Namibia) Motor Chalets is a very neat and reasonably priced over night stop in Southern Namibia featuring very modern and spacious chalets and right next to the B1 highway. We slept there 'en route' to Cape Town from Northern Namibia. The nearby fuel station has a well stocked shop and the chalet complex has camping facilities as well for the more safari orientated travellers. The chalets are equipped with a small kitchenette with the regular utensils for and over night stop and even for a braai. A braai pack with meat and sausage can be purchased at the reception. There are four private camp sites with own ablution and kithens with electricity also available! As we often travel from CT to Namibia we will most certainly sleep there again to break this long journey. I can highly recommend Grunau Chalets.…
