A very comfortable place to spend a relaxing holiday for all the family. We had an all-inclusive holiday and the food and drink were amazing every day with more than enough variety. The accommodation was spacious and very clean. Plenty of sun loungers for everyone at both poolsides. Staff (including the cats) are extremely courteous and friendly. We'll definitely come back.

We never return to the exact same place more than once but after a few tough years we just wanted a holiday somewhere we could trust, where we didn’t have to do loads of research before booking. Althea didn’t disappoint. The transfer is easy, the welcome is warm and the rooms are spotlessly clean and modern. The cleaners here are brilliant. They keep the entire resort sparkling. Nikos runs the restaurant so efficiently. He and the rest of the staff are welcoming and helpful. He doesn’t take a day off during the whole holiday season! They work so, so hard to keep the food fresh and the tables cleared. We struggle with all inclusive as they don’t always have local food but Althea has a good variety of Cretan food. There is also a range of fresh vegetables and fruit to break up the holiday food! Everything is labelled with allergens which made it easy for me to work out what had dairy and what didn’t. Other main allergens are also listed. Nikos took me round and explained the labels when we first arrived. I always had a few choices. I was even able to eat baklava for dessert. I never get to eat dessert! There’s a variety of drinks available on all inclusive and there is even Pepsi and 7Up instead of the usual generic brands. There are 3 pools and one has an attached children’s pool. They each have a different atmosphere so you can choose if you want something quiet or with activities. We steer clear of the entertainment as it isn’t for us. The team leave you alone if you don’t want to get involved. There was no pestering! However, looking at the timetable it seemed like they always had something planned in for those who wanted to get involved. The hotel is near some good tavernas and bars. There’s also a bus stop just down the road. You buy your ticket from a machine at the bus stop and it’s such good value. The service is regular and dependable. We would both recommend Althea to someone else without hesitation! Absolutely lovely.

What a great hotel, first reception Gogo and her team nothing was too much and a very warm welcome and a smile every time we went through. Stelios and the rest of the team who worked on the bar were very friendly, always made you feel welcomed. I have to say stelios makes some of the best cocktails I’ve ever had, Would definitely recommend these. Then to the restaurant always a great selection of food, even my fussy daughter found lots to eat. The restaurant manager Nikos and all his staff in the restaurant went out of their way to make your dining experience as enjoyable as possible. Our rooms were lovely, looking out across the beautiful gardens. The cleaning staff kept our rooms clean and always had a smile and we’re very polite. Over all as a family we really enjoyed our week just wish I’d booked two weeks.

Very good hotel. Friendly staff. Nikos did more than his job. He's such a friendly and warm person. The garden environment gives the hotel a bonus. There is enough variety of food available. We had a splendid holiday.

This was our third time to Crete and the Althea hotel and my wife and I returned to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. From the welcome and helpfulness of Gogo and her team at reception, the generosity of Stelios (and his cocktail wizardry) and the legendary warmth of restaurant manager Nikos, this is arguably one of the best and consistent operations on the island. The hotel is set in a garden environment fairly easy walking distance from 3 nice beaches. This is a modern contemporary hotel but with tradition aspects (flowering plants and citrus trees around the apartment areas etc). The hotel has 2 very nice pools (sufficient for the numbers of guests and always a lounger available), a tennis court and an air conditioned gym. It’s very easy to travel into the picturesque port old city with Venetian influenced stone architecture and winding streets, great little coffee bars and bakeries. Lots to see, beautiful beeches, botanical gardens and more. Food and drink in the hotel is all inclusive with a main bar, and 3 self serve bars by the pools and in the restaurant. They have 2 types of draft Cretan beer which I found equally as good as Mythos and Helen my wife found the wine very drinkable for everyday consumption. We also enjoyed the all inclusive free cocktails and occasionally had a bespoke one which was amazing! Let’s talk food...You will read extensive reports about Nikos and what a wonderful manager he is. My wife Helen who has to follow a gluten free diet for health reasons. All the dishes are clearly labelled and there is such a huge variety of food types that Helen can eat like a queen. There is always a fresh salad bar at every meal, fresh fish, seafood often, meats and Greek speciality dishes. They will even happily prepare a sandwich picnic in a cool bag that you order the night before and collect at breakfast. The food is excellent. The rooms are contemporary and immaculate with walk in showers, nice usable balconies, free air con, free safe and a flat screen tv. They have upgraded the Free WIFI this year and it is good and accessible right across the hotel. Overall friends I want to highly recommend this hotel to you. Thanks again to all team, this was one of the best holidays of my life again, genuinely. Cant wait to return...
