The hotel manager, Dante Reveche answered my email inquiry about the rates, location, and request for reservation within 24 hours. Very professional. He also provided a lot of local information which proved helpful on my trip.

There are only twenty rooms at Red Palm Suites that form a quadrangle around the parking area. The Standard Twin Room is PHP1350 while the Standard Single Room is PHP900. I stayed in both room types (Room 108 is a Single, while Room 117 is a Twin) and the only difference is the number of beds. Everything else is the same.

The hotel is new, well kept and well maintained. Aside from the professionalism of the manager and staff, the other great thing about Red Palm is how fresh and clean the pillows, the sheets, the bed and the room smell! It is a very well maintained hotel property, and I hope they continue to keep the service level up in the years to to come.

Most of the guests were pharmaceutical representatives who drove their own cars and parked in front of their rooms. Most guests were using their handheld devices and the hotel's free wifi which was reasonably strong and reasonably fast. The room rate comes with a set breakfast which is properly portioned. It is served from 7am to 10am. The toilets are new and clean. There is hot and cold water in the shower. Water pressure is normal. The hotel provides bath soap, shampoo, a dental kit, fresh smelling and clean white bath towels, and bottled water.

On my last day at Red Palm, there was a citywide power outage. It was nice to be in a hotel with a generator that powered the lights and the airconditioning.

At night the security watchman closes the gates to secure the compound. He is also the defacto front desk person, although I understand that there are staff to attend to people who wish to register and check in.

The hotel is located behind the Provincial Capitol building one kilometer before the busy center of town. From the airport, take a Route 2 or Route 4 multicab that says "Ciudad" or "Butuan". It costs PHP15 from the airport to Gaisano Mall. And it costs PHP20 from the airport to Butuan/Ciudad. Pay PHP15 and get off at Gaisano and either take a PHP8 tricycle ride to Red Palm on Villa Kananga Road, or walk about 500 meters south from Gaisano to the Provincial Capitol, then walk around the perimeter of the Capitol to get to Villa Kananga which is not far nor difficult if you do not have heavy bags.

The National Museum (with Lolong the crocodile and the preserved Balangay), Gaisano Mall, the popular disco called Sunflower, the restaurant called Margie's as well as downtown Butuan are within a 1km radius from the Red Palm. Again, it is just that close a tricycle is PHP8 or you can walk.

It is a very nice place to stay when in Butuan City. The current service level compared to the room rates yields an excellent value-for-money.

http://redpalmsuites.webs.com/

(Note: The hotel website still has the old rates which are shown at PHP100 lower than the correct current rates.)

Butuan is the capital city of Agusan del Norte, a heritage province found in Northern Mindanao. You’d know you’re in Butuan when every corner you turn to, you’d see a Balanghay (boat) icon. Various museums are dedicated for this cultural icon. Butuan claims that this is where the Spaniards first landed, not in the Cebu the way our textbooks say!
Now, what can vacationers do in less popular destination like Butuan? A lot! If museums, with highly knowledgeable tour guides, aren’t your cup of tea, you may go ziplining, ride an ATV, hit the beach, or do some mountain climbing.

Butuan is where I found my soundest sleep in months! I checked in at Red Palm Suites and Restaurant in November for 2 nights and in December for another 3 nights! I’m telling you: THE BEST SLEEP EVER.
I’ve had 2 different rooms for my 2 separate visits. But both rooms gave me THE BEST SLEEP EVER!

The beddings are new. They provide only 1 pillow, and when you request for another one, they will deliver it to your doorstep – wrapped in its plastic casing! I guess it gives you the illusion that it’s clean and fresh but that illusion works well with me. The pillows are the best features of this hotel. It’s PLUSH. It’s just so huggable! BEST. SLEEP. EVER.

The hotel is located not in the city center but within a residential area that’s why maybe it’s quiet around here. The neighborhood then gives you a homey feel, you kind of feel at home and secured. But don’t you worry, there are tricycles (in interesting configuration) that ferry people from this area to the city center. No taxis or cabs around. Estimated travel time is about 10 minutes. Some of the roads are a bit rough but it’s no toughy. It’s located just near the Provincial Capitol and the mall.

Another plus point of this hotel is their huge table where you can just type away and work… or do Facebook. Either way, it’s awesome. It’s also got a huge mirror by its wall so you may also use this as your boudoir – this is just my illusion as this is commonly found by the bathroom door anyway.

And for travelers like me who’s got a lot to plug-in/recharge, the room’s got plenty of electrical outlets to choose from: by the bed, near the table/mirror, wall at the far side.
They’ve got complimentary breakfast too. But you know what I don’t get here? When you order coffee or anything from the cafeteria and have it room serviced, they charge you extra for it… when they just have to walk a few meters! The hotel, well it’s more like bed and breakfast, is just one storey, with less than 30 rooms. It’s nothing big and fancy so I don’t see the point of charging me extra for my coffee. So what I did was I’d call the cafeteria a couple of minutes ahead, walk right across from my room(through their 20 cars-or-so parking area), pick up my coffee and go walk back. I’ve exercised and saved a few bucks!
Their bathroom is OK, nothing exceptional – clean toilet, hot and cold shower, clean towel. But some of my colleagues commented that it’s not the regular water, they thought it’s deepwell water. It’s got aftertaste when you brush your teeth. Oh well.

But overall, Red Palm Suites and Restaurant in Villa Kananga is one of the most value-for-money hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Their very cheerful too, I just don’t know why.

This was my second stay . I spent 5 nights here in December when I was in Butuan City on Vacation. Check in was quick, i was actually able to get into the room 3 hours early which was great . The staff are all extremely friendly and are always in great mood (Gladys James and Manager Dante ) . The room was well sized, two double beds, desk, dresser, TV, (small fridge with the Queenbed Room) My rate included Hot breakfast and it was either Filipino or American breakfast your choice..The pillows were Awesome, for a extra fee you can ask for more pillows.and the bed was OK. There is a Hotel restaurant with excellent Food a must try. Internet Wifi is Good and Security at night is on point . It is a decent place to stay, reasonable rates.

I would stay at this hotel again

We had recently stayed a few different hotels in Butuan, and without question, Red Palm Suites and Restuarant was simply the best. Our next stay in Butuan will be here without question. The staff are professional and will go out of thier way to make your stay the best possible.Early check in was not a problem due to arrival early morning flight. Food was also of good quality, fast service.

One thing I mainly consider whether or not the hotel/resto had hit its mark is its people. Red Palm has the best staff - Polite, quick, and accommodating.
My most recent trip was just last week (Jan 16-18). True enough, it was a business/official trip but Red Palm was able to provide the rest and relaxation we all deserved when it's time to retire to our rooms.
I wouldn't call it negative or minus points but rather "areas for improvement". Red Palm's resto is quite little. You have to be careful when moving around coz you might bump into another customer. They also don't have a rack where they sell personal items which travelers forgot (read: toiletries, etc)

Plus side:
- secured parking lot
- good food
- clean and comfortable rooms

If you had a car and wished that it would be parked near your room and be safe the whole night-this is the place to go to. You can basically park right in front of your door. The room is simple. The cafe is the better accessory to this establishment with surprisingly good food and service. The cafe can be a nice meeting place to see your buyers or suppliers.

I loved the Red Palm's junior suite room that I stayed in for the few days that I was in Butuan....i slept so peacefully every single night and didn't have to worry about a thing as they have friendly and attentive service staff who made sure I had everything I needed. I would wake up to a delicious breakfast of choice (my favorite was tocino, a sunny-side up egg, and garlic rice) paired with my favorite morning staple: coffee. The restaurant is clean, beautifully decorated, and homey. Their menu boasted of local and international cuisine that were delicious and satisfying. Kudos to the chef and his staff!
It has parking facilities that gave guests "peace of mind" as to the security of their vehicles as these were conveniently located right outside their suite rooms.

The Red Palm is a haven away from the hustle & bustle of the city life in Butuan. It's my home in Butuan City.

I booked this hotel based on previous reviews and they are all true. My bed was comfortable, the room I stayed in was well-appointed and the design, modern. Water from the tap did taste terrible with a lingering salty-chemical aftertaste. Prices were reasonable and the staff were very helpful on the plus-side.

The few things I'd like to add from what has already been written is that the place seems like in the middle of nowhere. Perhaps the staff should take the extra effort to brief their guests who are not from Butuan how to get back to the hotel especially at night since the place is a bit out of the way and Butuan gets really dark at night. They say it's relatively near a Gaisano mall but that's useful only to those who care to go there. The other thing is that their restaurant/lobby was very comfortable and served freshly-ground brewed coffee at only P35.00 and as a coffee addict, that's as good as it can get.

I've stayed here twice and i've tried other hotels in the city which are more expensive but RP is way better, plus room rates are very affordable. I usually check aircon filters to see if it's being clean regularly and i've noticed in my two visits here, filters were clean. The staff were very accommodating and very friendly. Breakfast were ok to, i love their langgonisa and pork tapa :)
They also have a wide variety of choice in their resto, but never forget to try their chocolate cake called "cookie monster" :)

A cousin introduced us to this place, so on our (with hubby) next road trip, we stayed in this suite for the night. Actually, from this date, we've been there twice already (i just forgot to write a review). It has limited rooms, so you can have one if it's not that busy (has one-storey building only). What I love in this place is their bed and the super comfy pillows! But I just don't like the water in the bathroom, it tastes bad! I mean, there's a warning that it's not suitable for drinking, I just want to gargle. Still, I hate the taste of it. The next time we gargle and brush teeth, we used mineral water instead! (sosyal). I already told the staff with my concern, I just don't know at present if there's a change. Well, we enjoyed our breakfast at the cafe. We still want to go back despite of the "water problem".
