What is Travelers’ Choice?
Tripadvisor gives a Travelers’ Choice award to accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently earn great reviews from travelers and are ranked within the top 10% of properties on Tripadvisor.
These new Houseboats (we also have a private italo filipino houseboat restaurant) are the first in their kind in Philippines and they are located in pristine lagoons in the limestone island of Coron: Ancestral Domain of the Tagbanua Tribe, National Park, Marine Reserve and Unesco site (Coron Island is different from Coron town that is located in another island named Busuanga). You can choose one entire private houseboat for yourself with big indoor and outdoor private areas (the Glass Houseboat, the favorite from couple in honey moon and small families, or the Paolyn Houseboat Original and the Superglass Houseboat that can host 15/16 guests) or you can choose just one room (for one couple or a small family). Each room has now its own private internal bathroom with shower, private dining area, private outdoor relaxing area (with private sun-beds and sun-umbrella) with private ladder to enter the sea. We will pick you up at the Coron/Busuanga airport (or in Coron Town) and bring you to our Houseboats (from the airport 30 minutes Van plus 15 minutes speedboat). Transfers are complimentary. No pollution, no traffic, no noise. Amazing scenery with breathless landscape with steep cliffs and Karst rock formations made of Permian Limestone of Jurassic origin, it offers superb snorkeling and it is totally quite except birds chirping and splashes of fish. Clean and clear water. It is the only place where to sleep and eat in all Coron Island. Free use of Kayaks, Standup Paddleboards and snorkeling gears. Unlimited drinking water and free WIFI. Totally Eco compatible, they do not discharge any waste in the sea and they are totally off the grid with 24h electricity and fresh water. Each room has multiple tower fans and some rooms have also the air conditioning (optional with a surcharge). We have 202 employees with 16 rooms and most of them are members of the Tagbanua Tribe that did not study and never worked before. This crazy project is almost the only income the tribe families of Coron Island have at the moment!
It is the best experience you can have in Coron! If you’re having a doubt on booking here, you should just do it! Me and my boyfriend enjoyed every second of it. We were able to kayak and paddle board around the coron island whenever we wanted. It was so quite and the view was absolutely unbelievable. We had all of our breakfast, lunch and dinner in our suite. You should try their ceviche and tuna pasta! The sunset was breathtaking and even when it rained, the view was great! If you also want to be the only one who is visiting the beauties of Coron island, you can join to the morning boat tours Paolyn houseboat is arranging. This way you beat all the crowd that will come from the Coron town as they start their tour later in the morning! Thank you to every staff member for being…

We stayed 2 nights, a fabulous experience. It's like the overwater bungalows in the Maldives but way cheaper and more budget style. A must do if you're in Coron. Fab staff - Notably Hyra and Jeffrey. Well organised with amazing communication up to and during my stay. Beautiful location and tour to see everything. Food was big portions and delicious. Fully at nature, calm and relaxing. Best stay of my 6 week Asia trip so far and definitely value for money

The food - Excellent. Right up there as some of the best available in The Philippines. The location - Excellent, but the mosquitos will get you in the evenings. The staff/service - Excellent. Everyone is so nice, friendly and accommodating. The room - Poor. Too cramped, I could not stand up in the shower or bathroom areas. I'm not a giant, I'm 6'1" Also very hot with not enough fans or effective air coolers. They want you to pay an extra 2,500pesos per night for aircon, which is a bloody joke considering how expensive this place is. The Tour - Very good, but expensive. Was charged for the tour, 10xentrance fees and 2x'fuel surcharge' fees. Entrance fees are not the fault of The Paolyn Boathouse of course, but leaves a bad taste in your mouth when it amounts to 3,700…

Response from April Lyn Cervantes, Owner at Paolyn Houseboats Coron Island
Responded Sep 17, 2022
our employees call him liar. Our 146workers(you find their name on our website)have read this review and asked us to sue him! FIRST:16 rooms (36 guests) and 146 employees so they have a normal shift and day off when they want. SECOND: the lowest cost of our employees is 1.000 pesos per day for an 18 years old boy that just started to work with us(never worked before and did not study).Of course they have 13th month, contributions, free food and free medicines for all his/her family and (here the average of the salary in resorts of 10 years experienced employees in Coron is 320 pesos with no food and no medicines.THIS IS WHY EVERY BODY WANTS TO WORK WITH US).The cost of our other employees (that work with us for more than one year) start from 1200 pesos per day (13th month, free food etc) THIRD: Tour expensive?he paid 100 USD for 2 pax for a private Yamaha outboard speedboat for 8 hours trip including fuel, captain, boatman (oh, they work 8 hours…), snorkeling gears, towels, drinking water. Our prices for the speedboat did not change since 2018 and the fuel is almost 100% (from 50 to 89 pesos per liter)so we added 10 usd.2xfuel surcharge?Liar again! Not mechanics here for outboards so we pay the flights, hotel and food to the mechanic of Yamaha coming from Manila. FORTH: 10xEntrance fees? 10x? Liar again! plus are money from nothing? Coron Island is ancestral domain of the Tagbanua Tribe and it is private. The entrance fees he paid to the tribe for 10 destinations (average of 3usd for each attraction) support 2.500 tribe members. FIFTH: he writes not enough fans in the room….His room has 4 made in USA towers electronic fans with remote control and 1 water air cooler…SIXT Bloody joke to pay for 2.500 pesos for the air conditioning?Coron Island has not electricity (and no fresh water) and our houseboats run in solar energy with thousands of Ah of batteries (that we change every year) and special made in Europe inverters. For AC we need to run all night generators because the solar panels are not enough. No noise in the lagoon since the generators are on a dedicated houseboat out of the lagoon and connected with 600 meters of special submarine cables.2 boys alternate in the shift in the night for the AC operational.SEVENTHBooking process is difficult and all we want is he to pays for the booking? Why not automate the booking? We explained to him that we cannot charge the credit cards without having the cards on hand and swipe it on the pos(Filipino banks give this options only to big business to prevent frauds). We give the options to foreigners to pay ALSO in their currencies to save commissions and to avoid bad exchange rates and yes, we ask to be paid when guests book. What if he does not show up? He contacted us on 15th of April to book for May and did not pay, he contacted us again on 5th of May and he got mad since the houseboat he wanted was not available anymore so he wrote by WhatsApp that he would have posted negative reviews (without coming). The owner is verbose? So he would like no answers? EIGHT The place is too expensive for how much we pay our employees? 16 rooms and the cost of 146 employees, the rent for the lagoons (also the water is owned by the tribe by the law), Investment to build houseboats (not insurance cover the lost in case of typhons), huge costs for the logistic…no fresh water no electricity on the island and toilets, showers, sinks, kitchen do NOT discharge in the sea but we collect the waste water in holding tanks in the hulls and 4 special equipped boats suck the waste from the houseboats to bring to another island 2 hours far away where we have now a 14 stages septic tank with an STP machine on a hill where we pump up.THE WIFE CONTACTED US AGAIN ON MAY 7 BEGGING TO ACCEPT THEM IN ANOTHER ROOM SINCE THEY HAD JUST MARRIED. Hypocrisy of this 47 yo guy, as arrived he said sorry to be so unpleasant on the messages justifying his behavior that he was planning the wedding.People like him should just stay home

Beautiful houseboats in the middle of Laknisan lagoon. We had a wonderful time here. The dramatic backdrop is magical! The owners, Paolo and Lyn were attentive and friendly. Kudos to the staff as well!

For romantic and quiet is the place , was surprised by the food also, staff very helpful and very kind , the owners are friendly and attentive to the customers, never hesitate to ask for something always try to help the customers the ocean is warm and transparent you can see the bottom so amazing !… I would say the place is wonderful splendid, it’s worth for the price you pay to experience the wonderful scenery. We slept under the dark sky covering the blanket of stars and the brightness of the moon. Hearing those crickets and the tweets of the birds are very relaxing. The lakes is water crystal clear as you can see the different kinds of fishes swaps around the houseboat. We definitely go back there again in the future!! Thank you Paolo and April for a good treatment you had…

There simply aren’t enough stars to give to Paolyn Houseboats and their team. What Paolo, April, Tribe Tagbanua, and their team built is a once-in-a-lifetime ecotourism experience. They have several houseboats in the main lagoon close to their restaurant. They have one houseboat in a smaller, more secluded lagoon. We stayed at both. The location is otherworldly and extraordinary. If your definition of luxury is an unforgettable natural beauty, remoteness, fresh food, outstanding service, and amazing people. This location rivals some of my favorite destinations: Ko Lanta (Thailand), Kalau Beach (Kauai), and Corcovado National Park (Costa Rica). * Location: There is a bit of clarification for those who are not familiar with Coron Island. Busuanga Island is there you fly…

Many things have already been mentioned in previous reviews so it seems silly to repeat everything, but I would just like to emphasize how unique this place is. It is so much more than just a place to sleep. I would say it is more like being one with the nature, but in a very comfortable bed. :) We took only one night for the experience, and as many others, felt sorry for not staying longer. We even received an upgrade to a deluxe villa I believe, which was very kind of them, the view was so relaxing and peaceful. Paolyn Houseboat should most certainly be praised for their contribution within the local community. We have heard many amazing things about both the owners, Paolo and Lyn, and their common project from people either working for them or simply living in Coron town.…

Had a fantastic 5 days and 4 nights in Paolyn last November. We finally got to push through after 2 previous cancellations due to Covid surges. Paolo was very easy to talk to and we had no problems rebooking our trip. Upon arrival, Paolo met us and helped us move into our house boat. We were informed about the use of the toilet, (which some other guests seemed to have complained about in other reviews) and we had no problem with it (just follow the instructions and don’t throw tissue into the bowl). As we were still in a bubble at the time, we were the only ones allowed to visit the locations nearby and we had it almost all to ourselves. You had free use of the kayaks and paddle boards during y our whole stay. It was fun ordering drinks via radio and see the…

Paolo, his staffs, and the entire team of Paolyn Houseboats were amazing. They were all very accommodating. I need a med for my motion sickness, his staff was kind to give me some. Then, they offered to buy me more in the town and also tampons because I suddenly had a period that time. That truly amaze me because they made sure that none can stop me and my friends in enjoying their place. There are restrictions in the place like no diving and many more but we truly understand it. This is a national park, marine reserve, and a UNESCO site and as filipinos, we understand it. Of course we also need to help in protecting the place while enjoying it. Overall, we enjoyed the place. WE DON'T WANT TO LEAVE IT. But we'll surely come back. Special shoutout to jackie, she was very…
