Second time in Caramoan Cam Sur. This time with a big group (23 pax) with my in laws and my Yorkie. First time to travel by land from Manila to Camarines Sur. The travel was a butt-wrecking 12 hours direct to Sabang Port in San Jose. The usual 2 hour boat ride from Sabang to Guijalo. Only this second time, we have stayed in an island- thus the additional 40-minute boat ride from Paniman Port to Lahuy Island. We had the resort reserved exclusively for us.
When we arrived, the place was just as I expected. There are no enhancements from their website where I discovered this resort. As it is, the place is so quiet, the breeze was gentle and around us are only the colors of the sea, sand and nearby islands. You can only hear the sound of gentle waves at high tide and the birds chirping. The rooms are rustic- nipa huts but I opted to stay in a tent with my husband. Electricity is powered by a generator which was strategically placed away from the huts and the shore. Current is available only from 6pm to 6am. We chose to cook our own food and the resort is open to such an option. We just have to pay extra for the use of their LPG, dining and cook wares and utensils. We weren’t so luck at Caramoan market when we arrived. Most of the seafoods are gone and we got lucky to buy a few kilos of fish, chicken and some veggies. The resort staff agreed to take us to a fishing village in a nearby island. We bought lapu-lapu (snapper) and squid. The dinner by the beach was awesome. We were supposed to have a bonfire on our first night but it drizzled. At dusk, the sunset was enchanting. You will be drawn to the shore to watch the sun slowly go down the horizon. The morning is awesome. I woke up to a bright orange light peeking from our tent. When I got out it’s simply WOW! I was rewarded with fiery sky, cool but gentle sea breeze and singing birds. The only manmade sound you will hear is the camera clicks! We got lucky that we got to the place on a full moon. At night, the eerie flash of moonshine is reflected on the sea water. It’s so beautiful!
Overall, the resort was very simple. No exaggerated descriptions from their website. What you see in the website is what you get. It was clean and well kept. You will be surprised at how affordable the rates are. The entire staff is courteous, helpful and friendly. Mr. Marco, the owner was very responsive and quickly addressed all my queries. I will definitely recommend this for family bonding or even a romantic getaway. Very lovely! 5 stars no doubt!

Our stay in Hacienda Lahuy was simply perfect from beginning to end. My only regret is that we only stayed 24 hours ! We were extremely lucky to be the only visitors during our stay so it was like being on our little private island !
The location and the resort were just great, clear transparent water, white sand, cabanas to chill, chairs to lounge on while you watch the sunrise and the sun set, etc. The rooms are simple but clean and comfy. They are actually renovating them so they will be even better soon. No luxury private bathrooms but once again clean and did the job. The island hopping was lovely and the food delicious.
Last but not least the staff was so friendly and helpful ! Connie, Angie, Arnold, Pel and Paolo did everything they could to make our stay perfect, and thanks to them it was.
I recommend this place 200%

I have stayed in Hacienda Lahuy three times in one year and I highly recommend it for many reasons. (1) It is far from the main tourist drag of Caramoan, therefore very private. Most hotels and resorts are located in the center of town or along Paniman Beach on mainland Caramoan. Hacienda Lahuy is located in the southern tip of Lahuy Island, the biggest but most remote of the Caramoan islands. (2) Since it is far-removed from civilization, staying here is unplugging from the rest of the world. The rooms are individual thatched-roof native huts, there is no air-conditioning, just electric fans, no TV, no telephone, no wifi. Electricity is run by generator from 6 pm to 6 am. The bathrooms--a cluster of 4 with good running water--are outside the huts. The "dining room" is outdoors under the refreshing foliage of age-old trees. There are gazebos alongside the long beach from where you see fabulous sunsets and sunrises. (3) If you like Bicol specialties and seafood, you will love their food. Generally, as in other lodgings in Caramoan, the food is "native"; no international cuisine here. But therein lies the charm of the place--everything is native, natural and local. (4) The tour package is reasonably and competitively priced. They are flexible with which islands to visit. (5) The Manila-based owner is responsive and accommodating while the resort manager Ester was very kind and welcoming (apart from being a good cook). If you decide to book with this resort, ask for the huts that face the sea. There's a hotel-type building further out from the waterfront which I wouldn't vouch for since it's close to the generator and also far from the main attraction which are the sea and sand.

If you want an authentic island life experience, look no further and book Hacienda Lahuy! Our family had a wonderful time during the recent Labor Day weekend in this private island. We stayed in the cottages (there's no aircon but the night breeze was more than sufficient for a good night sleep). The island hopping was quite a steal also; Kuya Efren our tour guide brought us to less crowded islands and took good care of us since he picked us up at the Port area. Ms. Connie, the travel coordinator, was very responsive to all our queries; and the owner, Mr. del Rosario was so passionate about giving his guests a good experience. The food was good as well, we loved the fresh seafood they served us!
The only thing I can suggest for improvement is that of doing a bit more cleaning in the private toilets/showers, especially during the peak season (but this is me nitpicking). :) Also, if you do decide to book, please be sensitive enough to other guests and do not be so loud during the night/early in the morning so that everyone can enjoy the tranquility of the island. :)

Hacienda Lahuy is a small island among the Caramoan Islands.
Positive points:
- It was very easy talking to the coordinator who was Ms Connie! She's very kind, approachable and ready to answer any inquiries.
- Food was already included in our package. They served very delicious food especially see food!
- The staff were all accommodating. It was easy talking to them.
- The island offers fresh see breeze. It has a beach front and you'll really appreciate the view!
- Towels are already included in the room
Points to improve:
- I hope each cottage have personal bathrooms because the resort offers common bathrooms only
- They said the cottage can fit 3 pax. Actually it really can but it's quite crowded already.
Additional information:
- Getting to the island is about 20-30 mins away from Caramoan
- There's no aircon. But I think it should stay that way because it's really refreshing.
- The electricity goes off from 6 AM to 6 PM. This is to save energy and to the let the generator rest.

Our stay at hacienda lahauy resort was a highlight of our time in the Philippines. It is quite an effort to get to but definitely worth it. We were collected and welcomed to island by Esther and staff who were all very friendly. We were the only guests on the island so it was literally a private island for just us.
We stayed in a cottage, which was a good size, under shade and had 2 beds, adequate storage shelves and a fan. (I would recommend the cottage or the tent option. The midrange homes is further from beach and doesn't have the same quaintness about it).
The bathroom/ shower facilities were spotless and the shower was very powerful and refreshing.
The highlight though was the food. Everything served in abundance and everything prepared and cooked fresh. Dishes included fresh fish/ squid, fresh fruit, cooked veggies, curry and slow cooked pork. If you plan on loosing a few pounds whilst staying here I would forget it haha. However if you are fussy you may not like the system. There is no menu. You get what is served. Personally I absolutely loved this.
Whilst eating lunch we would watch the fishermen go out to the cages and bring in the daily catch, I.e what was for evening meal! Good fun.
To sum up we had a most enjoyable 3N4D at the resort, there isn't anything at all to do which was perfect for us but if you find it difficult to relax and do nothing and need internet etc then this place isn't for you. We were here to relax, read, eat and enjoy each other's company and that is what we did. I feel the 3 night option was a perfect amount of time.
Thank you Hacienda.
