This is the accommodation of choice for our business trips to Caramoan. A plus is the clean pool and alcoholic drinks are usually ready to serve compared to the hotels near the town proper. Breakfast choices is usually the same so you'll probably be annoyed if you are staying for the long term. You can also buy seafood at the nearby port and have them cook it for you. Their cooking style fits my taste buds. Wifi is strong only at the dining area. Most of the rooms do not have working water heater. Be ready with your insect repellent since there are hard to see biting insects in the afternoon.
Upon checking in at the Rex Tourist Inn, we have been moved 4 times because the rooms either had cockroaches or the sink in the bathroom was not working. If you have requested for your breakfast to be served at 8:30am, they will still cook your food much earlier, to a point that when it’s actually time for you to eat the food, it was stone cold!! When we asked why our food was cold? The waitress just replied that the cook has already gone home! They are not interested in serving customers, they do things for their own convenience. Lastly, this hotel is a CASH ONLY HOTEL!!! Yes people, that includes the room fees! I feel sorry for the owner, on our last night of stay, one of the waitresses has actually brought her baby with her whilst working. I will not be surprised if the staff will pocket some of the money paid in the hotel!…
When we were told that our company outing will be in Caramoan, all us were excited! Even if we learned that traveling to and from caramoan would be like "thy kingdom come!" Indeed it was! That is why we all longed for to a bit stretch our our backs and relax in the hotel, but sadly we are dismayed due to the following reasons: 1.) The Toilet has no ventilation (window or even exhaust) 2.) We can't lock the door of our toilet and the water can't recede in the floor. 3.) In the other room, the sink has no pipe toward the drainage and smell of the toilet does a bit stink. 4.) Night time, the place is dark.. only in the videoke area and that of the kubos near the grill station is lit. 5.) Food is not that super appetizing. 6.) WiFi and even that of your data can't work well. 7.) TV only has one channel. 8.) No closet to keep your things... even hangers are not that well provided. But amidst all of that here are the cons: 1.) accommodating staff! 2.) their tourist guide is awesome! 3.) drinking water (hot and cold) is provided for in the dinning hall. 4.) pool area has a relaxing ambiance. I just hope that the hotel will do some major adjustments to the above mentioned…
Overall experience with Rex is poor, staffs were polite and nice.Food is okay. But the rooms are poorly miantained, ceilings are moldy from water leak, and insect crawlings and even a spider size of a dime. My biggest concern is the moldy ceilings, we ended up with a bad cold, and air conditioning is very dirty and noisy, we ended up just using the electeric fan. When the power went out, for some reason they shut down the water, so no water during the night what if u need to use the bathroom during the night it wasnt turned on till am. Very dirty rooms, im not sure if they wash linens after each guest. Wifi free but no signal, so no intrenet.
We traveled by land going to Caramoan. We arrived at around 1-2am and we don't have reservations at hotels. Fortunately, Rex Inn accommodated us. They even gave us discount because despite arriving super late. The room was spacious for eight of us. However, there is only one bathroom so we have to utilize the common bathroom outside. The staff also arranged for an island hopping tour. They also provided us food. I think it was included in the package. WiFi is not that fast but it will help a lot especially for students who have deadline (like me).
Caramoan is a long 10 to 12 hour drive from Manila to a remote town on the South-east coast. I stayed for three nights. Rex offers comfortable accommodations and friendly staff in pretty surroundings. Food is typical fresh Filipino fare. Package Trip with batchmates reunion was highlighted by island hopping across picturesque islands with warm waters, white sand beaches and great views. Lunches provided. I would give 3.5 stars if I knew how. I enjoyed the experience at Caramoan a lot more than the drive there and back.
Very poor service, the staffs are lazy af, not sure if all of them but everyone I encountered from room service to restaurant are. The rooms are poorly maintained, dead insects all over the room, and the aircon, not sure if I'm in a helipad or in a middle of a war, can't even have a good night sleep. The food also doesn't taste that much, very pricy drinks. Just when you think it couldn't get any worse, the water and electricity goes out. This place is terrible, I'm sorry but it wasn't any relaxing at all.
This is my first travel where I found my self complaining. There are two groups in this tour. The assigned hotel personnel to organize our food and the travel is somehow not fair, we are 14 persons in our group which is on a private tour. We set our tour as private because we don't want to have any inconvenience with adjusting on other groups but what happened is that the tour guide keeps us waiting and we are always adjusting with the other group. We wanted to start our tour earlier around 6:30 or 7AM but we started 7:30 to 8AM. When it comes to our food, the style in our group is something like buffet but will make everyone looks "patay gutom" but what they can do is to divide the table into two and put the food in the same table which they did on other group.
Poor service. Bad airconditioning units and dirty rooms. Expensive food also. The electricity is unstable. You may experience brownout the whole day. The staff are friendly but inexperienced so don't expect too much.
We were a group of 10 and stayed in 3 rooms .Their food is great -buffet set per group with meat, fish and dessert. Big resort with a decent sized pool. We had access to the lake which was nice. Our island hopping package included lunch from the resort( food was ok but was not enough for a group of 10). After the tour, we arrive at the resort only to find out that there's no running water in all the rooms. All guests were lining up to the 2 public restrooms which took forever. Good thing they have a pool where we stayed while waiting for our turn. The room we got was the cabana type, good for 4 with 2 double beds. It was small and looks old and the restroom - really small and is not well maintained. The package rate was super affordable and the entire resort is BIG and the ambiance is nice! They even have a basketball ring and a pool table. If you plan to visit, make sure you bring mosquito repellant. There mangrove trees near the resort which is why the the place is packed with insects. We all had insect bites and it was super itchy even after 2 weeks.…
