Awesome staff they have. Very nice and accommodating. Restaurant is just near the cabins and food is superb. Their serving time is short, you won't even notice the time because you can do selfies by the shore while waiting for your food.

I love the cabins! No bidet in the CRs, though. This is a good place to disconnect. So relaxing.

Adventure nga lang ang pag punta because of the distance, we came from Manila, but it is all worth it.

It is quite difficult to review this hotel as it is hard to separate the 'destination' and the accommodation as they do come hand in hand.

To get to Caramoan, you will need to take a boat from either Sabang or Nato Port. These boats claim to follow a schedule, but in reality, they will only leave port once they are full of passengers to make the trip worthwhile. We waited for more than 2 hours for the boat to leave and had another 2 hour boat ride.

Upon arriving, the Resort had a van waiting for us which took us straight to the resort. The beach/cove scenery at the resort, as well as the cute cabanas scattered in the mini valley, were absolutely breathtaking. The beach itself was enough to make you forget about the transportation dilemmas. The beach was untouched, pristine and just stunning. We went while it was off peak so we had the beach all to ourselves. The water was clear even 100m out to sea and the surrounding caves and rock formations around the small private beach will keep you in constant awe. Unfortunately, I am still unsure as to whether the beach itself would lure me back to the resort.

The cabanas were very basic but are more than enough for your stay - but after a while, you start noticing things like the shower water draining to underneath your cabin, so its always wet underneath the floorboards = mosquitoes. The door lock is just a simple push lock, what you would find in most bathrooms. They provided a kettle but no instant coffee which is frustrating and confusing because one main rule of the resort is that you cannot bring any outside food into the resort or you will be charged a fee. There is no cleaning service or room service, which I don't mind, but when you are told to not bring any food, it is a little concerning. You must notify resort staff an hour before you would like to have dinner, I didn't realise then, but staff are pretty much aware of your whereabouts at all times. When we came back from dinner, an item we left on the desk was missing. After speaking to staff, nothing could be done. We had no proof after all and the rooms didn't have swipe access so there was no log of who went in or out. Dinner was bland, but you don't have much choice at the resort. They didn't seem to have any other alcoholic beverages apart from beer.

Check out was simple and the van was back to take us to the port. We decided to take the larger ferry, what locals call 'The Roro' to avoid the experience we had coming there, and was told by the driver that it would leave dock at 8:30AM. We arrived only to be told that The Roro didn't leave Sabang Port as scheduled as it didn't have any passengers, thus was not at Caramoan Port to pick us up. The Port Officials claimed to have told the resort and the resort driver claimed to have confirmed that The Roro had docked. We were told we could take the pump boat again or wait for The Roro which both left at the same time. We decided to take The Roro as they advised there was AC and the pump boat is open and uncomfortable. After waiting for an hour, we boarded the ferry and were charged $200 Pesos per person for AC transfers - there was no AC. We waited another 2 hours in an overpacked cabin as they waited for the ferry to fill with passengers before leaving port - or rather until it was overpacked. The trip was suppose to take an hour but were told that the boat was overpacked thus why it took 3 hours!! At least they played a movie!

Overall, our stay was disappointing. The lack of communication and the unreliability of the transportation and resort really lets Gota Beach down. The hotel is average BUT it is one of the best Caramoan has to offer, and was adequate without being exceptional. My recommendation to visitors would be, to be prepared. Have plenty of cash on you as there are no ATMs on the island and the resort does not take EFTPOS or Credit - some parts of the islands have yet to see electricity. If you plan of staying at Gota, stay for a few days or else the transfers are just not worth it. It you do get to witness Gota Beach at its finest, you will see what a real untouched paradise is. My fear for Gota and Caramoan is not it's lack of 5 star hotels, but that it will one day end up like Boracay.

Gota Village in Caramoan is a top end resort, owned by the province of Camarines Sur. The lower staff (restaurant, boatmen) are doing a great job. Unfortunately the management of Gota is poor and not applying to the guest’s needs at all. Don’t be surprised when you find out the day before that the daily afternoon ferry service (for Gota guests only) will be out of order only for that particular day and that you should take the early morning service instead. Don’t be surprised when you get up early the following morning that the 7am early morning service is not there and that the management knew that it would be postponed for 2 hours already the evening before but informed only some (and not all) of the departing guests. When you complain to the management, they convince you not to take the public ferry since it would still take longer than the Gota-ferry. They assure you that the Gota-ferry will leave at 9am sharp. Don’t be surprised when you are finally inside the boat at 9am, that the management tells the captain of the boat to wait for another 1,5 hours for some other Gota-guests (2 photo models and their crew) who were in the resort together with us and who were planning to leave the resort around 10:30am in the first place). According to the captain of the boat this kind of things happen a lot because of the logistic management. The management tried to convince me that it was all to blame on the captain and his crew, but I have seen with my very own eyes that the captain got orders from the management not to leave and wait for the models). If you like to visit Caramoan, I suggest to stay in one of the pensions in Caramoan town proper instead. If you want to stay in top end resorts only, there are many alternative and good resorts in Palawan/El Nido/Busuanga for example that offer much more.

I travelled with my husband and 2 kids. We stayed in their medium cabana that is very big for the 4 of us :) got it with a very affordable price of 1500 php. The room is very nice and clean. All of the staff are very accommodating. Food is average but sort of pricey.

We have booked 10 nights at Hunongan Cove during our Honeymoon and paid a 50% deposit. Some days before our trip to the Philippines they canceled our stay due to some problems at the resort. And since three weeks nobody redunds our payment and send us any response. Is that the way you treat your guests?! Thank you for spoiling our Honeymoon!

We started looking for a hotel in Caramoan last February for our trip in March. Our top choice was Tugawe Cove but it was already fully booked. So was Hunongan, our 2nd choice. We picked Gota over smaller hotels and homestays since we figured it had very good, if not the best amenities, having catered to many international (and presumably more demanding) clients.

After 13 hours of land travel (there was an accident in Quezon that caused 5 hours of delay), we were relieved that the van driver patiently waited for us at the bus terminal to bring us to Sabang port. The van was not Gota's but was hired by the resort. We arrived at the port after 1 1/2 hours expecting someone from the resort to assist those who were booked at Gota but we had to make the boat arrangements ourselves. There were only fishing boats that can accommodate about 30 passengers and the waiting time was 2 hours for each boat. The boat ride itself took another 2 hours. Being a big, government-run resort with 130 cabins (including those in Hunongan Cove) that can house 2-5 persons each, we thought Gota would have their own boat for the efficient transfer of their guests. It certainly wasn't too much to ask since we paid Php7000/pax for a 3 days+ 2 nights' stay. We should have at least been informed that we'd be on our own at the port so we could have made arrangements to rent our own boat and not waste time.

We arrived at Gota at 4pm and missed the scheduled activities for the day. Not entirely their fault since our delay was largely due to the heavy traffic in Quezon, but none of the staff could help us make alternative plans to make the most of our stay. We found out the next day that we still could have gone rock climbing or firefly watching upon arrival and be able to spend more time on island hopping the next day. The staff were courteous and nice but they were obviously untrained for their jobs as none of them could provide helpful answers to any of our queries.

Our cabin was small but acceptably clean. However, our TV and shower heater weren't working and they couldn't fix the problem even until our check out. They prohibited drying of clothes on the porch but didn't have any provision for drying clothes inside. Just how do they expect the guests to dry their clothes after a day on the beach??? There were two of us but they only provided 1 set of soap and shampoo and no toilet paper. The shower stall was suffocatingly small, too.

We looked forward to good food at dinner but that, too, was very disappointing. Not only was the food un-tasty and the rice was half-cooked, there also wasn't enough for all the guests. To make matters worse, the electricity went out. Fortunately, the generator was able to provide power to the cabins. The resort grounds, however, was very dark.

We were supposed to have a free 15-minute massage upon arrival which we scheduled for 5:30PM. No therapist came at the appointed time and we assumed that perhaps the other guests enjoyed their massages and opted to extend the service. We requested to reschedule our massages to 11PM, hoping that everyone would have been finished by then. We waited in vain until 2 AM without any notice nor excuse from the staff.

Breakfast the next day was worse than dinner- plain scrambled eggs, half-cooked rice, corned beef and dried fish (which arrived after a few batches have already eaten). We requested that we be given packed lunches so we won't have to go back to the resort between islands as they originally planned). It consisted of laing, fried chicken and half-cooked rice. According to the itinerary they made for us, we were supposed to go rock climbing at 8:30AM then island hopping at 9:30. Noone told us where we should proceed for the said activities so we had to find the guides ourselves. It was already 11AM when they were able to find us a boat for our tour after repeated follow ups. They claimed that no boat was available because there were a lot of guests. What a BS excuse! They were the ones who accepted the bookings and planned all the guests' itinerary in the first place and many of the guests have been booked 1 to 3 months in advance. They should have been prepared. The management obviously lacks organization, preparation and foresight. We were definitely ripped off! Thankfully, Caramoan was indeed a beautiful place and we enjoyed touring the islands, lagoon, grotto and the underground river sans guide. We arrived at the resort at around 7PM, tired, hungry and sticky. Imagine our disappointment when they told us there was no water! All the guests who wanted to rinse off had to line up at the guardhouse and bathe using either a plastic cup or a cut-up water bottle to get water trickling from a hose. And this while everyone else were lined up not 1 meter away, gawking at you! The staff did hire men to fetch water and bring them pail-by-pail to each cabin but of course it took hours for them to provide for all 130 cabins. We informed the staff that we're willing to wait and that we'll go out for dinner first but we expected that we'd have water in the cabin upon arrival. We were out for over 3 hours but still didn't have water when we got back. What really irked me was they even had the gall to say they couldn't bring the water because we were out when in fact they didn't even have a pail for us yet. It was almost midnight by the time we received our first container of water which was only enough for one person's quick bath. And surprisingly, they sent the massage therapists at that time.

On our third day, we were so eager to leave the place and swore never to go back again. Good thing our boatman informed us of a better option for transportation back to Naga. On the (bigger) boat, we met fellow tourists who stayed at a homestay where they were treated and fed much, much better for a third of the cost. Talk about rubbing it in!

This place is such a beauty at its finest. From the cabin’s (cabana’s) built and design to the perfect location – secluded, secured and private and the awesome scenery. You will easily be mesmerized by everything you’ll see. Add this to the friendly staff they have (most staff) – the experience is really one of a kind – in both positive and negative ways.

Whilst it is so true that Gota deserves to be praised due to its beauty and staff, there are things not good about Gota. Here are some of the things I noticed which aren't good about Gota:

First is the location. Since Gota is a secluded village resort, it is situated somewhere far from everything else. Though they have a pick-up service from the Guijalo Port, going in and out of the resort will be very difficult and expensive. They offer the use of their van for P500 (two-way travel) which is of course very expensive.

Food is another issue. Again, since Gota is a secluded village resort, your only option when it comes to dining is their restaurant. Now, I’m not really sure what happened when we were there but it was the funniest thing ever happened while I’m in a resort. Since we are a group of five (5) people and they offer meal sets, we decided to order 2 sets of their meal (meal set includes rice, grilled pork, grilled fish, salad and iced tea). When our lunch was served, we saw that the meal set would only fit one or two persons the most (making our initial decision to take only 2 meal sets wrong as only 3-4 people will be able to share what was served); so, we decided to order another set. The funny thing is that when the additional (1) set was served, it’s more than what was initially served to us (to think that the initial order was for 2 sets). The waiter stood firm that what they served initially were for 2 sets and that the last set they served is far less than what we have initially received. We decided not to complain about this anymore and let it go.

The beach. It was such a pity that when we were there, the waves were too big. Seaweeds were brought to shore. Though I know that this is something that’s beyond their control and that they can’t do anything about that. But I bet that the beach is superb without the weeds considering the magnificent rock formations found along the beach.

So what do I advise other travelers who want to pick Gota as their place to stay? It’s alright to stay here just for a day – just to experience what Gota has to offer - the uniqueness and the ambiance of the resort and the beauty of the natural scenery. You may want order food from the town proper first before you check in as it’ll cost you so much should you decide to eat in their restaurant or try to go to the town proper to eat. Lastly, go there on a day when the tide isn’t that high so you can enjoy the beach fully.

Overall, I'm still pleased with my stay here in Gota. I still feel dumbstruck whenever I think of how beautiful the place is. Its beauty overpowers what I've felt about the food and the transportation going in and out of the resort.

Booked our stay here about 8months in advance, and was so lucky that I did since we were the last batch of guests they accommodated prior to closing off the resort exclusively to the Survivor cast & crew.

There are 2 Gota Village Resort properties: the one with the numerous log cabins, and the other in Hunongan Cove -- the high-end one. We stayed at their Hunongan Cove property. It was such a long trip to get here, we had a total of 2 land transfers and 2 boat transfers from Naga airport (about 5 hours travel!). It was that long! But upon arriving at the resort, our weariness/tiredness were all replaced by awe. The place was so beautiful. Very limited villas in the island and all were beachfront. It was such a dream vacation, sleeping and waking up to the sounds of the waves. Our villa had all the comforts of home, very spacious, a huge comfortable bed, and a veranda where you can lounge, watch sunset while sipping wine.

Our only problem was the food. We got the full-board package, so we had no choice but to eat whatever was served us. Food definitely needs a lot of improvement. It was mediocre and bland. They don't even have "menu". All of our food comes from the other property which is another island, so should you have any food request, you'll have to wait a long, long time.

We went island hopping and the beaches are gorgeous! All are secluded, powdery white sands, pristine waters, you could also go snorkelling and lots of fishes. I think it's better than Boracay. You don't have the maddening crowd and commercialism. I hope it stays this way. Across the resort, there's a small cove that you could swim across or use a kayak.

My Caramoan beach holiday remains to be one of my top 2 best vacations ever!!!

the travel was really tiring, it was one hell of a trip, from the airport, landtrip to their boat location, land trip to gota village and another 10 mins boat trip to hunongan cove.
we were greeted with a rusty old L300 which took us to the gota village
during that time gota village was fully booked because of an ongoing survivor series.
we were advised to stay at hunongan resort instead which was a little expensive than gota.

hunongan is a secluded, relaxing serene place.
the rooms are great, but quite pricey without meals included, even breakfast :(
the menu is also very very limited, 40% of the menu are not available even.
no fish base meals which I find very unusual since its an island and many fishermans were just around the area.

the resort menu is not vegetarian friendly, food is a disappointment for me, i was expecting to taste authentic bicolano meal on the resort but didn't experience a bicolano meal on menu.
also no fruits, nor fruit shakes during our stay, good thing we bought some stuff like pineapple juice on town proper.

this place could have been memorable if not for the poor food and service.
accommodation is quite pricey for the resorts offering.

the place is quiet and you could enjoy the swim, in a way this is an exclusive resort,
i really look forward on their improvement
