Detailed Reviews

There were too many negatives to give this hotel a rating over poor. We stayed on the 100-level, which meant there was only one window in one of the rooms and it was at street level so I felt like I was in a basement. The staff did greet us with a smile, which is nice. Staff was not appropriately knowledgeable about the area. For example, we asked how to travel via public transportation to Toronto and was directed to a subway station a couple of miles a way and suggested we take an uber or two busses. We learned on our own that there was a subway station 3/4 of a mile away which we walked to or required a much less expensive uber fare. The bed was fairly comfortable. The bathroom was small and is in great need of a deep cleaning and/or an appearance refresh. We found grime around the rim of the toilet - the kind that accumulates without regular cleaning beneath the rim. I was told at check-in that we would get daily housekeeping. However, on day 2 we did not and that was a huge disappointment. Additionally, the television in the "living room" was inoperable because it had no sound. When I pay for a hotel, I expect to receive what is in the contract; a bed, operable amenities available and housekeeping promised. The most disappointing aspect was that I had to ask for an adjustment on the bill. Staff was aware of our issues and did not act proactively to offer us financial renumeration. We were given 25% off one night's stay which amounted to less than 10% off our total bill. I think we did not receive 90% of what we paid for and the financial abatement is seriously insufficient. I feel really cheated.

We had a nice stay here. It is a clean hotel with convenient parking and friendly staff. The room was plenty big, which was great when traveling with a baby. It was pretty quiet as well. The main problem is that it isn’t very conveniently located. We had to walk about 15 minutes each time to the nearest subway stop. We did get to walk through a park, which was nice. There wasn’t really much food closer. The price was good but it was a bit of a hassle with a baby. It probably would have been fine if it was just adults and you are comfortable with public transit.

This place is drab, no elevators, and nobody will help you lug your suitcases up those stairs. When you get in the room it's clean, but it's drab and creepy. For $150 a night this is WAY overpriced. The pictures on the website do not show you what the rooms really look like. When I got to my floor, I just got a depressed, low feeling and just wanted to go to sleep so I could get the heck out of there in the AM. Rude lady at the front desk if you come in late at night.

We came to Toronto to see Taylor Swift and stayed at the Willowdale for 3 nights. The hotel is a bit out of the downtown area, but it's just a quick walk to the subway station and it's located in a nice and safe area. We walked from the subway station after the concert around 12:30am with 2 kids and felt completely safe. We booked this hotel because it had a kitchenette and 2 separate bedrooms. The beds werereally comfortable and the room felt spacious, even with the 4 of us there. The staff were absolutely wonderful! They were so thoughtful and accommodating, they even provided us with free subway cards to get to the concert and when we returned, there were snacks and drinks left in our room, it was so sweet! Another plus was that the hotel is very quiet; there are under 20 rooms I believe, we didn't hear a peep from any other guests. The last hotel I stayed, at had several hockey teams running the halls at all hours, the quiet here was a nice change. All in all we had a wonderful stay at the Willowdale, I will definatly book there again.

Me and my wife stayed here just for to nights and guess what, apart of bad bugs, noises, garbage smell and worst room ever they lied about free parking! On the very first day they simply pulled the ticket of windshield so you wouldn’t even know you got one. However before leaving I got another one that I brought to receptionist and she said it is already being taken care of. Lies lies lies. This is literally the worst place I have ever stayed in and know I am willing to spend my entire time to sue this bunch if loosers and make them pay for everything they did.

This small scale hotel provides all the amenities of a large scale property, minus things like a fitness room or pool. The sheets and towels are first rate as are the toiletries provided. Unfortunately there was construction outside our side of the hotel while we were there, so being woken up by the workers at 7:45 am was rude. It should be over in a week. The kitchenette and supplies were what we needed to have our own coffee & cereal in the morning. The 2 Nd night there were people upstairs, which is not a good thing. You can hear the footsteps and things falling and the shower running. So, this was a good place during COVID because it’s so small. On the other hand, if you’re sensitive to noise, it can have its drawbacks.

This could be a little gem, but it isn’t. The good; location is decent if you have a car, staff were polite and helpful, actual bed was comfortable. The bad: could have been cleaner, power cord run under doorway to bring power to the desk, badly frayed towels, no elevator to second floor, parking was awkward (hoping we didn’t get tickets like some people did in reviews!), sofa bed was terrible, walls are fairly thin (but people were quiet so not an issue). Overpriced for what it offered, so we won’t be back.

Charming boutique hotel, with a kitchenette and living room in addition to the bedroom. Clean, comfortable, and convenient (there are few hotels in the nearby areas). Limited free parking, although that wasn't an issue when I was there, and there is no elevator up to the second floor, which could be an issue for older visitors. Staff is wonderful. Would gladly stay again.

Had family over for a surprise birthday and booked this place as it was close to home. It was perfect for a short stay with sitting area and microwave and kettle which was convenient for the older couple.
