The Holiday Inn Toronto Downtown Centre receives mixed feedback; guests commend its central location near shops and transit but caution about the noise from bustling streets. While the modern decor and amenities like the pool are often appreciated, opinions on service and value vary.
Some visitors celebrate the staff's friendliness, while others encounter less satisfactory interactions. Room sizes are frequently criticized for being cramped, and while cleanliness is generally upheld, the cost of amenities such as breakfast can be a point of contention for some.

During Toronto's summer tourist season, although the rooms here are small and housing prices soar, many tourists or airline crews choose to stay here because it is close to the College subway station and there are many shops and restaurants nearby. Because the room space is limited and the sound insulation is average, it is difficult to relax in the room, just take a shower and sleep. The room price is high but the overall service is not as good as expected, not up to the standard of an international chain hotel. After calling the front desk, you need to wait for a while or call again before there is a response. The room was not cleaned one day during our stay. After complaining, it took a while before someone was sent to change towels and clean up the trash. This is quite ironic compared to the fact that the hotel emphasizes hygiene and cleanliness as its most important item. Overall I am not very satisfied with the service here.

Let me say right off the bat, my one missing star is simply because of the bath products. There is no bar soap available in the hotel. The only thing available to wash your hands and body is an insanely, much-too-fragrant liquid soap/wash by Dove. I asked the front desk if I could have bar soap instead for the shower but they told me the IHG policy is the liquid soaps only. It's a tiny complaint but it is a bit unusual and I really found the scent so strong (you can smell it on your hands for HOURS) BUT THAT ALL SAID...
I really did enjoy staying here and would highly recommend it. Alex at the front desk was such a lovely person, so friendly and helpful. Alex deserves major kudos, a warm, kind check-in experience sets the tone for a pleasant stay and Alex did exactly that for me.
I asked for a quiet room as high up as he could put me and even though there are 20+ floors, I found room 724 to be perfect. The room is not incredibly spacious but for myself traveling solo it was fab. The King bed was comfy, the pillows were wonderful, the free bottled water was great. The hotel is mere steps from the subway not to mention central enough you can walk to a lot of places (if you like getting your steps in, like me)
I honestly felt very happy with myself for booking my brief stay at this property. I think it's absurd to not offer bar soap to guests who request it and I hope that IHG will consider changing this policy.

Toronto is a very expensive city so I was surprised to get a premium room at this really nice hotel for less than $300 Canadian dollars a night. Large room with a huge comfortable bed and good shower. Conveniently located 150m from a subway station that is 4 stops from Union station.
Air conditioning turned off in the night and the room was extremely warm, so you had to get up to turn it back on again and this happened multiple times. Despite the hotel having 4 lifts, we waited longer for lifts than at any other hotel on our trip. Asked the front desk for restaurant recommendations and they just said, walk south on Yonge Street or talk to the concierge, who wasn't there.

Hotel room was clean and comfortable, if a little small (the pictures are deceptive), but lots of small things could be improved. There is a pool available but it is not mentioned on any of the hotel information provided. The pool itself is heavily chlorinated however it does not appear much is done to keep a supply of towels in the change room (signage advises users to get a towel from the change room) nor to keep the pool skimmed to minimize the hair in the water.
We had four people booked in the room (as indicated on our reservation) but only three towels were provided. The Kleenex box was almost empty and was not changed the next day. The air conditioning unit is quite complicated and no explanations were provided.
Given the price we paid per night we expected a higher level of service than received and would certainly be hesitant to stay there again.

The room is clean but the washroom is a bit tight. The noise proof is bad and you hear the noise from concourse and room nearby. There is big windows in 22F and it is just nice. The breakfast is ok and crowd with many customer inside. There is parking offering in and out benefits for you over the night with $30 per day. Laundry also cheap for $4 wash and dry and laundry room secure with room key require to access it, which is great for long time traveler after a long trip. Staff is nice and helpful for questions and help need like getting coin for laundry. Location is great with many shop and food nearby and convenient access to college station.

unclean! we stayed for 1 night and had a decent time. didn’t use the room much because we were out and about - but in the morning we moved a pillow and too my horror there was dried what appeared to be feces on the head board and also stained upon the back of the pillow where my kids head laid all night. I let the desk know they said someone would be in contact, i also emailed. i have no heard from anyone regarding the concern. house keeping also went to check the room - they would be able to tell it had been dried and had been there for quite some time.

This is a decent holiday, which is well located in a central area close to the subway and tram stops (and supermarkets). We stayed for two weeks, and whilst it does some things well, others need more ironing out.
Highlights:
Location is superb. Though there are ‘colourful characters’ who wander the streets nearby, and can pester you if you smoke. They are largely harmless though.
Philip behind the bar, is brilliant. Funny, thoughtful, and kind. A real gem of a guy.
Housekeeping (we are room 1025) are excellent. The room is modern, clean, the beds are comfy and although small, is enough for two people.
The hotel security guard (guy with the glasses) is friendly and professional.
Areas which need more improvement:
At check in, our room was not ready, despite it being 7:30pm at night.
There is a very confusing hotel policy which states that you if you stay more than one week, they will randomly take money from your credit card in odd and unexplained amounts - why not just take one payment at the beginning?
I would have loved a wine glass for my room, and when I asked reception, they said they couldn’t get one as the bar and restaurant were closed. Almost every other hotel (in over 40 countries I have been too) can get you a glass. Instead, I had the plastic cups in the room, which isn’t ideal. This might seem minor, but these are the touches you expect from a four star hotel.
The worst part are the old fashioned and antiquated lifts/elevators. Huge bottleneck queues would line up to try to get into them, and often, one or sometimes two (of four) wouldn’t work. This could be exasperating.
The hotel terrace seemed a little sad looking. You have to call a number to order, it rarely looks busy and seems underused. It has so much potential. Similarly, the lobby seems to be a really underused space, which would work well as a coffee shop area, rather than underused seating.
Finally, it’s really expensive. This hotel is a lot of money, and it doesn’t even include breakfast, which is a crazy amount of money on top of the cost of the room.
Overall, a decent hotel, which seems to need a lot more polishing around the edges and a better use of what it could be.

Says shuttle service that is a lie. Called to confirm shuttle they said "every 30 min at airport" I waited no shuttle called front desk said "no we don't offer shuttle" did not even offer to call me a cab. Arrived room was for two should have been for one. They only had one chair and you had to shimmy on the wall the bed was so close to the wall. The tub did not drain in my 5 minute shower the tub filled and could not finish washing. Website and booking reservation said free breakfast. That was also a LIE. Went for breakfast was told it would coast $25. They offered a free coffee, when I put two cream in the coffee it did not change colour. Had to go to Starbucks. When asking the front desk to call a taxi one night another guest had booked because they had microwaves i the rooms but that is also a lie. When the other guest asked the front desk agent said "no we don't have microwaves go across the street to the Bodega". They need to fix the website, and automated responses with Expedia and all other booking sites. I will never stay here again.

Amazingly friendly staff especially in the restaurant at breakfast and the lovely security guard. Water provided in room every day and more at reception - this was very welcome as it was very hot out. Very comfy room and clean. Toiletries provided, shower good. Room was small in comparison to other holiday inns of the same standard in different locations. Unfortunately corridors smelt of weed. Pool was nice for a city hotel. Great location near subway an trolley bus; only 10min walk to Eaton centre. Free buffet breakfast rate was excellent.

That is the case in most hotels, although I cannot vouch for this particular facility. I've had this done more than once, so I would not be concerned about a Holiday Inn.

No free breakfast i am afraid Unless included in your rate.
It really is not worth it so if you have not got your breakfast included in your rate I would go out and find something local. Breakfast we had was really not worth the money we paid
