The Anndore House isn’t perfect, but for the price and the location it still gets top ranking from me.
The positive: I loved the location. It is easy walking distance to the Church and Wellesley Village, and is very close to the subway. Yes, there is a small camp of unhoused humans nearby, but they weren’t harassing anyone. I also of course loved that the hotel was very LGBTQ+ friendly. The room was spacious and bright. The bathroom was fairly large and had a great rainfall shower. I loved the beautiful SMEG kettle, which boiled water for my evening tea in no time at all. They also provide packets of ‘gourmet’ instant coffee which honestly wasn’t too bad. I also found the room to be much quieter than I expected. The concrete walls blocked out all noise from adjoining rooms, and the noise from the street was pretty tolerable. The HVAC system was adequately responsive.
The mediocre: The bed and pillows were not the most comfortable I’ve had in a hotel, but they weren’t the worst either. The room did not have a blackout curtain and instead relied on blinds, which probably only blocked about 80% of the outside light, so it was still fairly bright at night. The décor aims for an industrial vibe, but the cheap pressed wood furniture was rather ugly. Instead of using knobs, the cabinets all sported just drilled holes, which would catch and twist my fingers painfully. The television was nice and big and allows you to cast to it, but it was too far from the bed to be useful. The bathroom didn’t have a lot of counter space, and as a girl who likes to sit and take her time putting on makeup it wasn’t ideal – but then I haven’t found a hotel room yet which was properly designed for cosmetic application. Finally, I had been led to believe that the rooms included bathrobes, but they don’t.
Those were all just relatively minor annoyances, however, and I can forgive them for the price.

We stayed in the midst of the first weekend of Taylor Swift madness in Toronto, and we couldn't have been happier with choosing The Anndore House. Above all, the staff was truly the highlight of the stay. Every single employee there was working their butt off during what was I'm sure an extremely high-occupancy and stressful weekend with lots and lots of kids. Check-in was friendly, informative, and relaxed. They even hired a DJ during the late afternoon/early evening hours to keep all the Swifties entertained in the bar before concert time. The location was very convenient, closely situated to TTC line 1 and 2, and tons of restaurants around to choose from. Yes, there were some sketchy characters on the streets here and there, but honestly, that's any big city these days. We didn't experience any safety issues at all. I loved the design of the hotel - dark and chic with an industrial vibe. You can definitely tell they spent a lot of time making every space look amazing. The bed was very comfortable and the shower pressure was excellent. The only note is that sound proofing isn't that great, so you can definitely hear people talking in the hallway and doors slamming. I'd recommend asking for a room towards the end of the hall if you prefer quiet. We had a couple of espresso martinis downstairs and it was excellent. Constantine Restaurant was also very good, with excellent service.

An incredible stay, within walking distance of yorkville. The hotel entrance was only accessible my room key after 10:00 which made the hotel feel incredibly safe and the rooms were stunning. Unlike any hotel I’ve been to before. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

I have stayed in various hotels in Toronto and Anndore has by far the nicest room. The decor is retro + industrial and is exactly like shown on their website (less the flowers). The staff is friendly and helpful. Special shout out to Augusto at the front desk for the nice warm welcome and helpfulness. It really gave a first awesome impression of the hotel. Room cleaning staff is also very helpful and responsive for missing items from the room. Inside the room, spacious walkin closet and sitting area with style. Lots of well-organized cupboards and shelf space throughout the room you can move your own whole bedroom in here. Some people commented on the safety outside of the hotel. It's downtown in a big city and what more needs to be said? As for other people complaining about the thin walls and noise from other rooms. I also did not find any problem. Yes you can hear some noise from the hallway but it's not different than what I have experienced in other hotels. There is no gym or swimming pool but I knew it before I booked.

Tucked away a block from Yonge/Bloor is a boutique hotel that has surprises at every turn. The online photos are very reflective of what you get, both from the rooms and the rest of the hotel. Very impressed by internal security and safe vibe. The bed was super-comfy and the shampoo/conditioner/body wash smelled great. Oh, and as a bonus, you could turn the bathroom light on from your bedside, and turn on/off all the individual lights in the room from your bedside.

Cool, modern rooms with plenty of sitting space and cute touches, reminiscent of the Ace Hotel. Separate sink area from bathroom-shower. Very comfortable. Rooms are bigger and better than other boutique hotels in Toronto such as the Drake. Only downsize is AC-Heat was very noisy. Hotel entrance is located off Yonge street and can be hard to spot, especially in winter as you enter through the restaurant. Small check in area, surrounded by a coffee shop and a lounge-restaurant. Staff was young and courteous, informal service and welcoming to LGBTQ community. Hotel is located within walking distance to Church-Wellesley area as well as some upscale shopping (Holt Renfrew, Kith). Location is a bit remote if your travels require you to only be downtown-entertainment area. Price was very reasonable using a third party reservation site.

My room was not cleaned until 4/4:30 PM on the first day after I checked in, the room had water concerns with temp and pressure. When you would speak to anyone at the front desk it was like they were doing you a favor. Never felt this disrespected at a Hyatt property. I wish I just stayed at the Regency like I normally do. I wasn't even asked for Identification when I checked in. It was the worst place I could've picked. The gym is not located within the building, at check in I had to wait for about 10/15 min for a valet. Then the same thing when I came to pick up my car. However, after the first day it was fine. There were price discrepancies, only of 15/20 CAD but still it caught me off guard.

We were going to Toronto from UK for a baby shower and also wanted to experience downtown. I booked The Anndore because I wanted to stay with my daughters in the same room, “bonding, chat time” … it was amazing , beautifully clean , they delivered bath robes daily when we called housekeeping, without even asking there was a knock at the door which I opened to a lovely young man delivering extra towels. The room has lovely touches like a record player and a choice of 4 albums, we played Harry Belafonte whilst having a drink in the lounge area. Lovely Pluck sleep tea bags were on the tray for a bedtime drink and we are now obsessed with them . Location was phenomenal, Yorkville has really upmarket shops and restaurants and felt very safe to walk around … All round wonderful stay !

Everyone at this hotel was very friendly and welcoming throughout my four-night stay. With the Guest of Honor, I received complimentary breakfast every morning. I expected just a standard breakfast, but the food was objectively very high quality--it was not just a free hotel breakfast like you would think but a real restaurant quality breakfast experience. All the food items were great portions and excellent quality. And the grapefruit juice seemed actually squeezed.
I was upgraded to the Corner King on the 7th floor. The views were very nice out the windows to the city skyline. The bed was comfortable and everything was nicely designed.
The location is perfect, within 2 minute walking distance to a major subway station and steps from tons of restaurants, bars, and shopping.
I would definitely stay here again next time I'm in Toronto.

My husband and I are currently staying at The Anndore House, part of JDV by Hyatt, and we’re having an amazing experience—thanks in large part to Joey at the front desk. Joey went above and beyond to make our anniversary celebration extra special by surprising us with a thoughtful gift and upgrading us to a gorgeous room. It’s our second time here, and we already know we’ll be back for sure!
We love this boutique hotel not just for its incredibly warm staff, but also for the convenient amenities: free Wi-Fi, an on-site restaurant, and pet-friendly options. The Anndore House is tucked in the heart of Toronto’s Yorkville neighborhood, giving easy access to chic shops, great dining spots, and cultural attractions like the Royal Ontario Museum. Plus, you’re only a quick stroll from the subway, making all of downtown Toronto a breeze to explore.
We highly recommend this hotel for anyone seeking a memorable stay in a prime location. Thank you, Joey, for making our trip so special—we can’t wait to come back!
