We had not planned to stay here; everything else was booked for our last minute trip. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed and very quiet. The chocolates were excellent. The breakfast was excellent for every palate. I chose fresh yogurt berries lox and toast....More

This is a real gem of a hotel; very old and very beautiful. Expensive, Yes; but well worth the experience. And the location is the best, next to the art gallery, next to Pacific Shopping Mall and Robson St.
Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work. The area's plethora of contemporary commercial, residential, and corporate spaces has bred a landscape of nouveau restaurants, chain cafes, and upmarket shopping options. However, located right on the waterfront of Vancouver's energetic Harbour, Downtown is a also
popular public meeting spot, with a massive public library and convention center attracting a bevy of visitors both local and not, as well as a hotspot for the arts, being home to some of Vancouver's most cutting-edge galleries. With behemoth architecture and a professional air, Downtown means business.

Donand - there are plenty of Cafes within 500m walking distance to suit every pocket. One of the best Japanese restaurant I have ever eaten in life is walking distance from Fairmont. It is behind Hyatt. I am forgetting the name but think it was Rue 909 Sushi. Then there is cafe at the crossing while going towards the water front. Again forgetting the name though.
