The Westin Bayshore in Vancouver garners praise for its picturesque harbor views, pool access, and available bike rentals, yet some visitors note a lack of room amenities and public seating. Guests commend the hotel's immaculate cleanliness and the staff's friendly and professional service, although occasional inconsistencies are reported. The serene atmosphere is enhanced by the spacious, modern rooms with a mid-century touch.
Its desirable location is celebrated for its accessibility to Stanley Park and downtown. However, concerns over value are expressed, with some guests finding the hotel's additional costs excessive.

We stayed at The Westin Bayshore for eight nights in the month of August. The hotel is located in beautiful Coal Harbour. We had a room looking at the outdoor swimming pool and marina. Because of Covid, housekeeping staff are not allowed to enter your room to clean or make your bed. If you need clean towels or sheets, you have to notify the front desk and they will leave them outside your door. We also left the garbage bins of the room and washroom outside in the hallway a few times so they could be emptied out.
We knew this beforehand so it was not a surprise.
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel but the only issue was that during two consecutive nights, we were able to hear people talking and laughing until 5:00 AM (in the room beside ours) and another night a couple making moaning noises on and off through the night. It was quite annoying actually. The walls are thin at this hotel.
The indoor pool and gym are closed because of Covid so it is the main restaurant. The outdoor pool was great but it was really busy during the weekend (no beds to lay on). On Friday, Sat and Sunday you had to reserve your stay at the pool. You were only able to stay there for two hours max.
The hotel is located very close to Stanley Park (10 mins walk), Canada Place (12 mins walk) and Robson Street (15 mins walk).
You can rent bicycles outside the hotel, there is an Urban Fare supermarket really close (there is a fridge in the room for drinks) and a lot of restaurants in the area.
I’m not sure if I would stay here again as it can get quite noisy depending who is sleeping nearby your room.
The views from the hotel are really nice though and the location is great.

Ideal location on the waterfront of Vancouver and on this visit it was quiet and peaceful. Two highlights. The tower rooms are newly renovated with contemporary furniture and a fresh palette of colours , the heavenly bed with a fresh white duvet and a large flat screen tv. The floor to ceiling windows give way to a minuscule balcony affording a beautiful view of the skyline or the waterfront. Breakfast was outstanding with avocado toast and the oatmeal along with other healthy choices on the menu.

It is wonderful to come across such a glowing review and to hear about your experience in our newly refurbished guestroom. We are pleased to share with you that a complete refurbishment of all guestrooms can be expected by spring 2020. I also agree that breakfast at H2 Rotisserie & Bar is a must-have! We enjoyed a lovely "staycation" with a promo offered through Mariott Bonvoy which included overnight parking, and a $50 gift card for dining in the hotel. A complimentary upgrade to a room with a view was greatly appreciated. Happy hour in the H lounge was delicious as was our breakfast the next day in the dining room. Servers were pleasant and on the ball. Special mention to Renee at the front desk who saved the day opening our bottle of wine (housekeeping sent up a corkscrew that appeared to be from a dollar store.) Jeffrey from the front desk quickly got extra towels and soap sent up to our room when requested. We used the pool and fitness centre following procedures in place and in general found other guests were following procedures as well. We are VERY picky when it comes to Customer Service and we are giving a very rare A+ to the Westin Bayshore for this experience.

As we everyone travel has been a long awaited option and we we very excited about this trip and this location in particular. The property is very large and busy so not very personal but that is fine with as my main priority was cleanliness at this point.
My first issue was the AC as it seemed to work perfectly fine during the day and non existent at night. I did call maintenance twice who came and changed the filter and informed me the all rooms would be the same so there would be no point in changing. My husband and I are very cool sleepers and the overwhelming heat kept us up each night which caused exhausting days.
The room at a quick glance appeared clean and so did the rest of the hotel but on our last night we were packing up for an early flight the following day we found evidence of the previous guest under the bed and night stand. We found a used mask, tissues and lipstick which I found absolutely disgusting and lead me to wonder what else was overlooked. My family should not be at a higher risk of catching covid or any other illness based on our hotel choice and then bringing it back to our families. I told the front desk staff as I was departing because it was too late the night before and any damage would have been done. They were very empathetic and agreed it was not acceptable and told me it would be passed on to guest services to deal with further and provide compensation. Later that day I did receive an email from Leslie in guest services that pretty much said "sorry about that, I will let the team know". Her response to me was very standard and showed no real understanding and how upset I was so I did write her back and she has not responding in weeks now. I am not person that ever feels compensation is necessary of accidents however this was absolutely disgusting and I was quickly dismissed then ignored.
Aside from the cleanliness our other reason for choosing this property was what appeared to be a beautiful and relaxing outdoor pool. The pool does exists but the way it is managed does not make it enjoyable. Guests get up at 8am and go down and lay towels on seats and leave for hours before actually using the pool. There appears to be no time limit or monitoring of this practice so if you are trying to relax on vacation by sleeping in a bit and enjoy the pool you may have to choose one or the other here. Our room had a pool view so even on days we were not using the pool we watched chairs get taken immediately. Those who do not get a chair just take their belongings and sit around the edge of the pool waiting for a chair to become available. This cause little privacy for discussion and also very loud at times depending who sits in front of you and constantly being splashed. If you are looking for some relaxing pool side time you are out of luck here.
The only good things about this property is the location and some the restaurant staff was very freindly and helpful
All in all it was very disappointing and we would never return or recommend to anyone.

Beautiful property. Be forewarned that if you are travelling on a weekend, you need reservations to go to the outside pool. Due to the current pandemic, I wanted to choose a hotel that had an outside pool, somewhere close where I could take my daughter and go swimming, sit out poolside. Many hotels had their pools closed. The website for Bayshore states the indoor pool is closed due to health reasons but the outdoor pool was open. No mention of restrictions or reservations. I arrived on Saturday and was given a letter stating all of the rules in place for Covid safety reasons. One such rule was only 2 hours max in outside pool and reservations needed. I read this letter once I had arrived in my room. I immediately phoned front desk and wad told they are booked for the day. For reservations the next day, I needed to go see Concierge. So I head there and wait in line to be told they are booked the following day as well. Later that afternoon, I received a generic email stating the booking link was down for pool reservations and to see front desk to make one. Again, they’re booked. I’m not sure where this magical link is located, wasn’t in my confirmation email and I can’t locate on their website. In room dining has also been cancelled, the website mentions some other dining cancellations but not this. I understand the reason for not entering the room but some hotels are delivering just to your door, which is no different than them serving you in the restaurant. This was another disappointment as we weren’t comfortable in a crowded dining room so we had to eat elsewhere. We did purchase a package with dining credit but was unable to use it. Lesson learned. I guess I should have phoned first. Seeing that their website appeared up to date with Covid restrictions and being that it is part of a major chain, I believed what I read. Unfortunately it was $350 wasted. We could have enjoyed a pool elsewhere; instead, we had a room overlooking the pool so my daughter could only just sit and watch everyone else. Big disappointment.

Response from Paul Cannings, General Manager at The Westin Bayshore, Vancouver
Responded Aug 6, 2020
Good day hotelloving, Thank you for choosing The Westin Bayshore, Vancouver and for reviewing your recent experience. I'm disappointment to hear that our outdoor pool reservations requirement made for a visit that fell short of your expectations; this is certainly not the impression we wished to leave you with, and does not reflect the rejuvenating stay that we pride ourselves on providing. Our pool reservations platform was newly launched that weekend in order to address unexpectedly high volumes at the outdoor pool, to ensure that the safety of our guests remains our top priority. While we recognize that this limits the number of guests who are able to experience the pool at one time, it is our hope that all have the opportunity to use this facility during their stay, hence the two-hour time restriction we have implemented. In addition to keeping it fair to all guests, the time restrictions are also in place to ensure frequent sanitization of the pool area. While we are aware that this creates a different experience than our guests are accustomed to, we have had to adjust some of our services to provide a safe, welcoming environment for our guests and associates. Our pool reservation requirement is only in place for weekend stays, and not on weekdays, and during the BC Day holiday weekend, we did our best to give as many guests as possible the opportunity to visit the outdoor pool. Thank you for the helpful feedback regarding in-room dining services; at this time, H Tasting Lounge, T & Co Café, and our H2Oasis Pool Bar are open, however we hope to expand these services to offer a contactless in-room dining experience shortly. We apologize again for the disappointing experience and hope that we are able to exceed your expectations in future visits at our harbourfront property. Stay Well, Paul Cannings General Manager, The Westin Bayshore, Vancouver

We visited the Bayshore at the beginning of August. It was not our first time at this property. We love the location and views of the harbor. We were travelling with our 17 year old son so I decided to book a junior suite for some extra room/privacy. The price of the suite was subtantially higher than a regular harbour view room so I called to make sure that there were junior suites available with harbour views and was told there were. We arrived later in the evening and the hotel was like a ghost town. There is no bellman to direct you and only one single check in desk at the front doors. The welcome was far from warm and when I asked about our view I was told that all junior suites were in the interior corridor looking over the pool. I asked if there was any opportunity for an upgrade since our reason for booking this hotel was the view and she said no. We lugged all of our items (we brought our bikes as well) to our reserved room to find that it was at the innermost corner of the building overlooking a rooftop. This certainly was not what I was expecting for $350.00 in the midst of covid in a hotel that was clearly empty. I immediately went back to the front check in kiosk and explained that I was not happy with this room and would like to have another. The less than friendly agent left the kiosk to speak with her manager only to return and inform me that this was the room I paid for. I explained that I had called and specifically asked if this category of room had harbour views and was told they did. After much debate the night manager appeared and finally offerred us a harbour view room in the tower. The catch however, was that our 17 year old 6ft tall son would have to sleep on a cot with his feet hanging over the end. At that point we just wanted to get to bed so we accepted. We once again lugged all of our items to the new room which had a lovely view but had been stripped of all the amenities that you would expect in a 4 star hotel. No coffee maker, no bath robes, no iron, no bar items and oddly enough NO handsoap!! I understand removing some touchpoints but when you are informed that housekeeping would not be entering your room for the duration of your stay you expect to have a supply of amenities that will last said duration.
When we returned home I received a survey of our stay. I explained what had happened and said that my husband and I were returning to Vancouver at the end of the month for our anniversary but were reluctant to book into the bayshore again. I received no reply. So....we booked the Fairmont Waterfront for less than what we had paid at the Bayshore. We had fantastic service and full room amenities. Cleary, the Fairmont appreciates the fact that people are hesitant to travel to begin with so they wow them with their service. The tired Bayshore could take a lesson or two from them.

My husband and I had a one-night staycation. Beautiful well located property. Staff and service was excellent. We checked in late. Valet parking was taken care of and we were promptly taken to front desk. Given room on 8th floor overlooking the pool. Comfortable soft bed and a dream sleep! Noted improvements: room was not immaculately clean. How do we know this? 1. Oher people's hair in the shower, 2. Bedside lampshade stained with a dark liquid, 3. Duvets not fresh. We requested a new duvet from room service, which was kindly delivered in a sealed plastic bag. We covered ourselves with the new duvet and did not use the original bed duvet. In the morning light we saw that the new duvet was bright white and clean compared to the original duvet which was yellow and stained--perhaps from multiple washings? Nevertheless, we all know the stories about the uncleanliness of original bedspreads.

We take pride in offering intuitive service and we are happy that your experience, with valet parking, and at the front desk, reflected our passion for hospitality. Furthermore, it is wonderful to know you appreciated the restful slumber you deserve in the comfort of our Westin Heavenly Bed. However, we are disappointed to hear that the cleanliness of the guestroom did not meet our usual standards. Arrived at the hotel after a long trip and had to pay an extra amount of money to check in a little early, seems like a bait and switch tactic to get you to pay more for a room you already have booked. I really did not like that as from the balconies it did not appear the hotel was fully booked.
The room was pretty but it would have been nice if they provided more than one tiny piece of soap in the bathroom.
The waitress in the restaurant was so hostile she almost knocked myself and another guest down trying to shove her way through while we were at the buffet. She had a very nasty expression on her face, luckily she was not serving us but was serving a table 2 tables down from us. Our waitress was friendly and helpful.
We had a long day out of the hotel and when we arrived back at 10:00 pm our room was not made up, no fresh towels and the bed was not made. For the price we paid for this room we expected better service than that!!!!

We stayed at the Westin mainly so the kids can go swimming. The Westin has 2 pools, indoor and outdoor, and both are heated. The indoor pool does get booked up fairly quickly but we were able to book a 1-hour timeslot each day of our stay. The indoor pool is pretty warm and there is a hot tub. We tried the outdoor pool as well. Water was really warm but it was cold when you got out, so better for warmer days.
A nice surprise for us was the complimentary bike rentals. We didn't think they would have any kids bikes but they were able to find bikes for all 4 of us including helmets for the kids as well. They were really nice comfy bikes and we enjoyed riding them around Stanley park and Coal Harbour. So much so we took the bikes out again the following day.
We had an upper floor tower room with a nice view of Coal Harbour and Stanley Park. The beds were comfortable and bathroom was nicely sized with a great shower that I really enjoyed.
Due to indoor dining restrictions the hotel had set up a pop up dining area in the front of the hotel and we had breakfast there twice. The staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable since it was still quite chilly even with the heat lamps. We didn't try the other restaurants in the hotel this time but the globes in the H tasting lounge looked amazing. Cardero and Lift are both steps away from the hotel but we didn't manage to get a spot with only patio open for dining. For our lunches and dinners we walked to Denman/Robson area where there were many fun and interesting restaurants to try. Chungchun rice hotdogs always had long line ups but the hot dogs were nothing special according to my kids. Kintaro ramen is as good as I remembered.
Not sure if it was a special Easter-only thing but they had fancy goodie bags for the kids in the lobby everyday, cupcakes and Easter eggs, cotton candy, and hot cross bun and mini donut. There was even a special goodie bag left on our door with cookies and chocolates for Easter Sunday. The kids got really spoiled and thought it was the best weekend ever!
Overall you can't beat the Westin for location and amenities in the Coal Harbour area. Everyone was so nice and friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had a great stay. We highly recommend the Westin and look forward to staying there again!!

Stayed at the Westin Bayshore for two nights as a Bonvoy Plat in Dec 2021 while visiting the city. The location of the Westin is convenient to Stanley Park and the Robson/Denman food corridor but less so to the SkyTrain and the downtown core. The views from my room on the 8th floor of the main building (not the tower) offered a partial sea view. The breakfast was outstanding and was the best I’ve had in any Vancouver Marriott property. I would return, especially if breakfast is included in the rate. If traveling by public transit, the Westin is also a good option for the Lynn Valley and Horseshoe Bay areas, given that the 25x buses pass by.
