Amazing experience, from arrival to departure everything felt like paradise. The view, staff and facilities are the best. Very friendly with kids and adults alike. Stayed one night, definitely would recommend to friends and family. Looking forward to staying again if traveling to lake Louise in the future.

Hotel's Favorite
My wife and I stay here every winter and summer, and even though we have spent well over 100 nights here, we still have reason to come back again. On this summer visit, we treated my mother and cousin to a nice 3-week vacation, split between the Chateau Lake Louise and the Banff Springs Hotel. Because there were four of us travelling, we booked a Two Bedroom Lakeview Suite. We were pleased to be assigned to 859 on the top floor. Arriving at the hotel, the valet staff promptly greeted us, unloaded our bags, and handed us the keys to our suite. We left the car with the valet and headed to the suite. It wasn't busy at the front desk, but it was nice to be able to skip and head directly to the suite. We were greeted in the suite by a nice bottle of wine and a welcome snack. Accor Diamond member benefits, such as the drink vouchers, were also provided on arrival. The suite was beautifully renovated, and provided good space for the four of us. With two bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths, large closets, a lovely living room and dining area, the suite had great space. And of course, great views from the six windows across the front of the turret! The only thing it could have used, was some additional dresser space for clothing in the second bedroom. The master bedroom had plenty of drawer space. We ate dinners in the Fairview, Alpine Social, Walliser Stube (always my favourite) and several times at the Lakeview Lounge. We had breakfast in Lago most mornings, but also ordered in-room dining a few times. It's nice to have breakfast included via both options. All meals were excellent. I don't know if we just got lucky, but we seemed to get the best window table for every meal (except Alpine Social, which doesn't really have any views), so that was appreciated. On our first day while having dinner in the Lakeview Lounge, the hotel's Manager of Dining Services came to our table, and said she noticed us having dinner, and offered any assistance with any meals for the remainder of our stay. We already had reservations for remaining nights, but it was very nice of her to reach out. If I had one complaint, it was about the time to get breakfast. There was nearly always a line to get a table, and with no way to reserve. Guests in suites are supposed to have priority dining access, but that clearly doesn't apply to breakfast! It also would be nice if you could have in-room dining earlier than 7:15, which is too late when planning some early morning hikes or trying to get to a Lake O'Hara bus reservation. I don't remember it like this on any of our prior stays, so this is an area that really needs to be addressed. I'm hoping once the delayed renovation of Louiza is completed and they finally open, perhaps they will offer breakfast in two restaurants? They certainly need more breakfast capacity to eliminate the waits. While not the responsibility of the hotel, over the course of the nearly two weeks we stayed here, it certainly helped that the weather was fabulous, with only one day with cloudy skies. We used the Moraine Lake shuttle bus a couple of times during the stay. We hiked about 50 miles and climbed a couple of peaks. It was a great trip! Now we just have to wait until March for our return visit.

Fantastic location but mid everything else We are a Marriott family and try our best to stay in a Ritz or a Luxury collection hotel whenever we can but the Fairmont Lake Louise is such unique and iconic property that we decided to give it a shot. It was our first times staying at a Fairmont and I am not sure I’d come back. First off, this would have been a much more negative experience if it were not for the staff. Chetan at the front, Imple, Payj, Emma all made us feel welcome and made our stay so much better. Really went out of their way to make things right. Which is part of the issue here, so much went wrong that we were constantly working on making things right. Let’s tackle the Property first. If you’re not in a room with a Lakeview the alternative is a truly hideous parking lot view. It says Mountain View but the mountains are far away. It’s a heritage property and so every room is different and so even though we got a Junior Suite, there are several versions of the Junior Suite and depends on what you get. The main building doesn’t have central A/C everywhere which means in some rooms you might have an indoor portable AC which vents out of the window. Sketch! The Junior Suite we were first given had this setup and was the size of a regular room with enough space at the end for a small sofa which qualifies it as a Suite I guess. It was an absolute stretch of the imagination to call it a Junior Suite. After we saw our first room, our family felt like weren’t in a $1500 a night room by far requested a better / different room. The front desk accommodated us by moving us to a room in the annex building which is newer and has more spacious rooms and a partial lake view. But you’re in the Annex building not in the main building. The online reservation system doesnt allow you to pick the Main building vs annex so no way to book in advance. Second, the pictures and details on the website are misleading. Good thing they have the disclaimer on there that says “Actual rooms may vary from what is shown.”, cos, boy it does vary! The picture of the Junior Suite on the website is a picture of the room we had in the Annex building and not of one in the Main Building. Now about the overall experience. The whole thing doesn’t have a luxury hotel feel to it. I can’t put my finger on it but here are somethings I noticed. There are large bays for buses in the parking lot which services the rocky mountaineer train stop and other travel parties which gives it a very tourist hotel vibe. There is no turn down service. The carpets are uniformly worn and old and seemingly unclean. The staff is almost entirely new. Everyone is extremely pleasant but are very much still I training and can’t answer simple qs like a restaurant’s closing time. With the property being right on Lake Louise, the baordwalk in front of the hotel is swamped with people all day who are not guests. There is a wait for the restaurants and it feels like a tourist hub you would see close to a major tourist attraction. Good news is that they are renovating this place; bad news; they are renovating this place while you’re paying Fairmont rates. We were offered a table at the main restaurant Luiza which had a caution tape next to it. (Emma worked hard to find a better spot and gave us free drinks. Again awesome people but you gotta work for it) If I had to do it again, I would pick a regular Lakeview room or stay elsewhere and just visit the Fairmont for the views and restaurants.

The hotel has a huge history and is in a great location but, with a captive audience, it relies heavily on its legacy. Our cases went astray which was not an ideal start. There is quite a lot of building work going on - a pool being built at some point I think? The short historical presentation on the hotel was really poor. The presenter lacked any real knowledge and seemed to have no clue as to what each slide was about. She seemed quite surprised as each slide came up. Our room was not made up and cups etc were not cleared away. The wifi was reasonably good. The coffee machine poor. Meal was OK in the German restaurant, with friendly attentive staff. But I would say The Deer Lodge close by was better. The hotel was an expensive option which did not really live up to our expectations. Charge a little more in order to provide a few luxury touches rather than skimp on things or overprice goods. It relies too heavily on its location and reputation. It could be so much more.

Mr. Gonnotio. I have just returned to the USA from Canada where I stayed at the Fairmont Hotel Lake Louise property for two nights. I reserved the Junior Suite Lakeview king breakfast package. The room number was 683. I had high expectations for my guest experience; however, the guest experience turned out to be well below par. Photos speak louder than words so I have included them. The Fairmont Hotel Lake Louise AB Canada failures are as follows: 1. Paid a higher rate for the Fairmont Hotel lake view room specifically for the view. Upon entering room 683, it was disheartening to observe that the windows were so dirty that the view was distorted. (See pictures) 2. No mini bar. The mini bar fridge was unplugged. There were instructions on the mini bar indicating who to call at the Fairmont Hotel to have the mini bar stocked. Disappointingly, this was false information. Apparently, the mini bar option was not available - period! 3. No Fairmont Hotel room service - period! 4. The Fairmont Hotel room “air conditioner” (see picture and video) was affixed to the plexiglass window without caulking. Therefore, whenever the wind picked up, the wind would create noise. We used towels as best as we could to block out the noise. At $1,500.00/night I expect better. 5. The booking indicated that the Fairmont Hotel breakfast could be enjoyed at any of the hotel restaurants - false. 6. At dinner and breakfast, I was informed by the servers that there were no coffee beans in the entire Fairmont Hotel for expresso. Amazingly, the servers managed to “scrounge up a few beans” when we displayed incredulous looks. 7. We gave our server a cash CA$20 tip and crossed out the tip area on our bill. We were still charged CA$20 for a tip bringing the tip to a total of CA$40 to the server. The Fairmont Lake Louise management were made aware of this but have ignored the information and request for a photocopy of the bill that we signed. First time in Canada so the opportunity to create hotel brand loyalty for Fairmont Hotel Canada is obviously lost. There is an extensive array of hotel choices world wide. Needless to say, I have no plans to give my business to another Fairmont Hotel anywhere in the world in the future.

Great hotel with an absolutely spectacular view! Was upgraded to a 1 bedroom lakeview suite - well worth it. 2 bathrooms and huge 700 sq ft - felt like a king. Walking trails were amazing. Food in Walliser Stubbe was elegant and very tasty. Popping restaurant buffet was best ever for breakfast. Very highly Recommended!!!

The hotel is an outstanding and interesting mix of old and new luxury, fine dining and high-end retail shops, all nestled in one of the most beautiful places you can hope to stay. We went here for a short trip and used the hotel as a homebase as we explored the area (Banff, Columbia Icefield, the many beautiful lakes, etc..) and I think it's ideally located for just that. I also have to call special attention to Ben and Noor at the Fairmont Gold reception - just absolute spectacular service. Thank you both for all your help! Also, highly recommend the Fairview Restaurant - we ate at many of the restaurants on site and this was our favorite by far.

Expensive but May was a good time to visit. The lake has just thawed and not too many people about. The landscape is indescribable. Took a guided tour to the Lakeview Point - you can do it on your own but we used Mike the guide ( free for residents off peak) and he was fun and informative. Short steep climb. The most friendly hotel staff. Rooms are huge. Massive fridge so good for families. Plenty of restaurant choices. Neat boutique and souvenir type shops. Fantastic hikes/ walks for all abilities( short ones for wheel chair users). Free water hydration stations- refill your bottle. Take binoculars. The lake is protected from anything with an engine- brilliant- you can swim if you’re brave- it’s cold. Canoeing on site. Some building going on- improvements to an outdoor pool- respectful timing of the construction crew and this did not detract from the beauty of this place. Sounds like I may need to revisit to experience that!

We had reserved 2 nights at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. A real SPLURGE for our 30th wedding anniversary. We were overwhelmingly disappointed by the terribly small, dark, hot, entirely ordinary room, the enormous mounds of dirt throughout the outside area of the property where lovely landscaping should have been, the lack of ANY outdoor space on the property for dining, having a drink or simply relaxing. We stayed one night (we wish we hadn't) and checked out early the next morning. All staff members we talked to were helpful and courteous (and did not seem at all surprised by our displeasure!) and we were not charged for the night we cancelled. Sadly, there is nothing else positive to say about this overpriced, overrated, hotel. That's actually not true...the very expensive breakfast buffet was marvelous! I recommend you stay at the Juniper Hotel in Banff and just take a drive to Lake Louise for the view.
