More than one hundred steps lead down to Kookoo’s nest Eco-lodge, which comprises of six simple, comfortable, native-style bamboo beach cottages and rooms, with a central restaurant. They are set in a pocket of woodland that slopes steeply down to the edge of a small secluded sandy cove, facing the sunset. The buildings have been beautifully constructed by artisans from the village using traditional techniques, from locally sourced bamboo and the leaves of the Nipa-palm. The ladies from the village prepare excellent fresh food for the restaurant and see to guest’s everyday needs, while their husbands tend the herb gardens, carry provisions, and drive the boats. A small dive-shop offers tuition and diving on the beautiful coral reefs that surround the peninsula. Snorkeling gear is available for those who do not dive, and Kayaks can be rented for exploring Tambobo bay, fishing village and remote beaches.
I was immediately disappointed with this resort, starting with the guard at the front gate . Extremely unfriendly . I was a drive up customer and I wanted to stay at the resort but i couldn't even have a look at the place without paying a large sum of cash first. This is the first time i've ever seen a resort that makes you pay to look . And i travel a lot . They think quite highly of themselves ! They need to get real . I wouldn't not stay a place like this. VERY unwelcoming.

Stunning relaxed hideaway. Beautiful beach and house reef. Excellent home cooked food. Stayed in the new ‘Heron’ cottage: set at the far end of the beach up some steps it is delightfully peaceful, well appointed and has incredible full sea views. Highly recommend coming to stay at Kookoo’s.

We stayed midweek in March and had such a wonderful time and I am seriously craving another stay! The hosts Nikki and James were lovely and the staff cooked up some amazing food! The cabin was clean and the beds super comfortable, was glad for the fan and we slept really well. The boats can return from night fishing around 4.30am so ear plugs are good. We rented some snorkels and wetsuits and had a great explore of the reefs. My favourite was seeing the clown fish guarding their sea anemones - so cute! I noticed most mornings between 9 - 11am that there were some small jellyfish passing through at the end of the jetty, I've been stung before so I didn't go out deep at that time but in the afternoons we couldn't see any. Was grateful for the wetsuit to ease that anxiety. The dogs were super cute and loved giving them belly rubs throughout the stay! The food was all really tasty, I feel that we basically tried most things on the menu and were never disappointed. The salads were great for lunch. The sunsets every evening were so different and it was just so lovely to sit on the beach and chill with a cocktail or beer and watch the sun go down. We'll definitely be back!…

In February of this crazy year 2020, I was fortunate to spend two nights at this amazing resort during my brief trip to Philippines. Special thanks to Nikki and Jamie for being such good hosts. I think the collage I made with pics I took will say it all. Really hope to make it back for another visit one of these days.

This magic, laid back resort does not lack in anything, provided you like secludedness, excellent food and tranquility. Its hidden on a private beach that is daily cleaned. The owners, Jamie and Nikki, and their charming staff are a fantastic team fulfilling all wishes possible. Food is a major point of attraction here, as it is carefully and freshly prepared. (If full up, plan in some time for the preparation. It is defenitly worth waiting than!) Did I mention the outstanding house reef and the well equipped dive center? The material is excellent and the instructors very professional. Don't miss out a dive here! During the lockdown due to Corona Virus we were the last guests in the resort. The friendly service was delivered till our departure. Everyone was very, very supportive. As you can see on the pictures the Napa huts are simple but have an amazing layout. Far more important: they are sparkling clean and the mattresses (plus topper) are veeeeery comfortable. During out stay Jamie and Nikki started to install new mosquito nets in all rooms. They constructed rectangled frames over the bed so the net doe snot disturb at night. Thanks to the size of the resort things are very individual and creative. It is a very special place, a gem in hospitality that should not be missed out!!!…

Just to begin ... Yorkshire tea for breakfast. This is enough to give the Nest 5 stars alone. Charming hosts, a really excellent kitchen (I highly recommend the Friday dinner), superb snorkelling, secluded and a gorgeous, rustic cottage. Falling asleep to the sound of waves lapping a few metres from your bed is a truly memorable experience!. Note: there are 100 steps down to the accommodation though there are sherpas to carry your luggage

Positive This accommodation is exactly, how you imagine in your dreams. If south Negros is the crown of Philippnes, Kookoo's Nest is the diamond on the crown. Located in a private bay, just six bungalows with an amazing view and conditions. Owners and the staff are extreme kind and helpful, food is amazing, chill out is on maximum level. What else do you need? Oh yes, they have a diveshop as well. So if you'd like too see the underwater world in the bay, or go to the beautiful Apo Island, owners can give a perfect guiding for you. This is your place if you travel to this area!

We enjoyed 5 days of eating, reading, swimming and snorkeling with the Kookoo’s nest. Same quality and service as we experienced 9 years ago! We actually slept in the same bamboo hut too! Staff were very friendly. So many fish and coral to see.

It was a great choice picking Kookoo's Nest out of the many options in Negros Oriental. It was exactly as how it was described - an escape from the city in simple yet tastefully designed eco-friendly cottages. The food was healthy and delicious, and Jamie and Nikki were hospitable and welcoming hosts. We also did a dive at Apo Island and Jamie was a patient and attentive dive master. Facilities are great (no aircon though so you'll have to be comfortable with that - along with the wildlife :D), the staff were very efficient and friendly, their house reef was teeming with marine life, and overall was great value for money! Bonus was a small cliff you could easily climb up to (~10mins) get a spectacular view of the area. Thank you, Jamie and Nikki!
