Amazing service! The food was incredible and such a pleasant environment. The waiter gave respectful, attending and kind service. The resort is overall beautiful & great. Would definitely recommend 100/10!
Spent the weekend at this beautiful property! Stunningly beautiful, impeccably clean, amazing service, the best pools in the entire riviera Maya! The breakfast and lunch buffets were excellent; wide variety of quality food for every taste, with attention to dietary restrictions. Fresh, quality ingredients, lots of variety at buffets. Dinner at la comedie (French) was outstanding. Graçias to our amazing waiter Antonio for superb recommendations, excellent service. Kudos to Roman (Bahia lobby bartender) for the best margaritas! The entire Barcelo staff is dedicated to providing excellent service and amazing guest experience from checkin to checkout. The resort stands on its own merits as a luxury hotel, but the staff makes the Barcelo Maya riviera an outstanding place to vacation. Looking forward to returning soon.…
Check-in, read my husband review Rooms - Put the don't disturb sign or they will call and knock on the door. We would get a cal, pick up the phone and no answer. 2 minutes later a knock on the door. First we thought it was our kids but found out it was the room service. Now u know. High tech. Weird system. Food - Limited. For vegetarian limited options. Get dinner reservations or you are looking at the buffet.Read restaurant reservation for details below. Service at buffet feels like the servers are being timed. Closure - Staff is limited and u r at a disadvantage if you don’t speak Spanish with staff. Ventura water park is closed. Yep. Mall is closed. Open places are extra. Bowling alley is open $50 per person per hour to bowl. Mini golf $10 per person. U get the message Restaurant reservation have to be done in person between 9-5. Cannot call in. Well you can but no one will understand you unless u speak Spanish. We got reservation but for a family of 5 some days we had to get two separate reservation cause they had nothing. Nothing available for same day and next day. Beach- we know sea weed season is from June but it was painful to see them staff 2 person against the beach. Not until the place was so full of sea weed (look at pic posted) did they bring in machinery. We were at Moon palace in Jan when Covid was at its peak and they were better organized and staffed. Recommendation = 6 trip and the worst one. Try another place…
The hotel itself is really nice, well located, beautiful beach and you can easily swim in the sea and play with the waves. The hotel has many facilities, but many of them were temporarily closed due to corona. Every single time you will enter a restaurant / closed area temperature will be measure on each gest (which I find great) and every time you are in the restaurant and want to enter the buffet area you will get the antibacterial gel. The entire hotel is super clean, marked for distance, has a lot of facilities, counts with several elevators on each building and every room has a balcony. The are many pools and perfect for swimming, playing, walking and even for dive exercises. The kid's pool is a dream! has many sliders in different sizes for the different ages of the kids, waterfalls, the water level is super low (so it's safe for the kids even without adult supervision) and counts with a lifeguard all the time. The beach is super nice, white sand and clean! There are beach chairs everywhere but ZERO sun loungers/shadow places. Also, there are many water activities that you can do for free but must be a yellow flag at the beach or you won't be able to do anything. The rooms are ok, they are not new but clean and everything working fine. Each room has a bathtub with a shower combination, If you go with family/friends and want to share the rooms you can open the doors that connect both rooms and voalá. If you happen to stay at the Colonial building expect A LOT OF NOISE since most of the rooms are in front of the "station" where the night shows are offered! Is massively loud up till 11:30pm. There are several stores (some from the hotel and some from outside people renting a space at the hotel), you can find really many different and interesting things such as souvenirs, articles for the pool/beach, a pharmacy and stores/stands with traditional articles for really good prices! I think the absolute BIG MINUS from this hotel is the service! Some waiters are nice and welcoming but the majority do things in a bad way, they ignore you, forget your orders or even answer in a bad way because they have absolutely no interest in you. Also in the lobby, they have a mess and there is big miss management on the reservations. Sometimes they forgot also to refill the minibar and when we call the reception to tell them, the person who was coming to the room with the missing articles was really angry/mad and did the things complaining. Also, we reserved and paid for staying at the "Maya Beach" area and we got a room at the "Colonial"... This issue was also very disappointing! Overall, the hotel is nice but a BIG LACK of service in many areas!…
We took our family of six two years ago and are returning this month with our family of seven. The beach and pools are wonderful. We can't wait! We have stayed at more expensive places, but with so many of us traveling, this is the one!
