We recently spent 3 nights at Colleton House. The house and grounds are really lovely and peaceful. Because it is on a hilltop, there is a gentle breeze and great views of the ocean.
Sarah and Chris purchased Colleton House a year ago and have great plans for it. Because work was being done on the main house, breakfast was served in one of the self catering units, which surround a small courtyard with lovely pond and fountain. Their right-hand man Vivien prepares the delicious breakfasts. All the staff members were welcoming and helpful.
Nearby, we had lunch at Joan's Snackette & Bar. The Bajan food was some of the best we have had on the island, especially the peas and rice. For dinner, we really enjoyed The Fish Pot.
If you are coming to Colleton House directly from the airport, we highly recommend that you ask Sarah to arrange a car for you. Vivien also arranges all guest transportation, including rides to and from restaurants.
The swimming pool was much appreciated and we enjoyed its idyllic setting.
All in all, a memorable visit to a lovely historic piece of Bajan history!

This place is amazing. If you've ever walked through a stately house/museum and wondered what it would be like to live in such a place, you have to stay in this hotel. It's a historic home which was once owned by the Colletons - who helped, among other things, found the Carolina colony - and it's unbelievably pretty. This is hands down the coolest place I've ever stayed, and in addition to that it's very peaceful, extremely comfortable, close to the beach, and the breakfast is delicious. If you're heading to Barbados, you have to experience this.

If I was able to give 6 stars I would!! We loved this hotel, from the owners, staff and the peace and tranquillity, it literally had everything. An absolutely beautiful historic building, converted sympathetically, that makes you feel welcome and its not just a place to stay, but felt like home! I cannot rate this place enough and if we return to Barbados and Speightstown I wont be staying anywhere else.

Colleton Great House is an old plantation house filled with great art treasures & artifacts. It is a great experience to stay here compared with the usual hotel atmosphere. Everything is superb from the seven acres of grounds to stroll around to the superb breakfasts served up by hosts Garry & Marti. This place is an oasis of calm & tranquility away from the hustle & bustle of normal Barbados. Lasting memories will be our great hosts & staff, the four poster bed & the views from the breakfast verandah, not to mention the after visit from the family of monkeys.

Colleton is a National Trust property and everything about it is historic and tranquil. Don’t expect modernity you won’t get it. It is a gracious house with gracious staff. We absolutely loved it. We stayed in the villa in the grounds for nearly a fortnight then moved into the house for a few days. Nothing is too much trouble and I cannot praise the staff enough. We stayed in the northern half of Barbados and escaped most tourists, all inclusive hotels and cruise ship day trippers. This house provided that escape. You will get a ‘bigger’ experience of the island if you hire a car although you can use the bus it can be time consuming. A big thank you to all the staff for making our holiday special!!

We stayed at Colleton House with our 3 teenage children in February half term. The cottage was more spacious than we expected, very comfortable and full of character. The kitchen and bathrooms are not modern but were as expected and the kitchen had everything we needed to cater for breakfast and light meals. A welcome pack with breakfast items for the following day was much appreciated. The swimming pool was popular with the children and we all loved watching the monkeys play in the gardens. We loved the location towards the North of the island and found quiet beaches, turtle swimming and good restaurants nearby although would recommend a car. The cottage was cleaned and our washing was done on the Monday after we had arrived on the Saturday evening and we would have preferred this to be more mid week but other than that we had an amazing time and would definitely recommend the cottage for a family holiday. Thanks Garry and Marti!

Garry and Marta are excellent hosts at the wonderful Colleton House, a few minutes from Speightstown in the peaceful northern end of Barbados.
Their wonderful old plantation house, full of character and antiques was a superb base for our two week in late Jan to early Feb.
Superb breakfasts are included, cooked by Vivian and served bu Julie Ann and her team, quite the start to the day, no need to eat till mid afternoon!
Pool was peaceful and relaxing and the gardens are wonderful to watch the ever changing skies and sunsets.
Would recommend this place to stay if you are seeking an antidote to the bustle of a busy life, but don't tell too many people!

Please google Colleton great house and learn a little about the place before you book to make sure it's for you. It certainly was for myself and my wife. We stayed in the main house and had breakfast every day on the verandah facing the sea. It's a fabiulous tranquil location at the quietest end of the island but there are good restaurants close by and Holetown is about 15 minutes away for the tourist experience in full . We didn't meet Garry or Marti as they were away but Vivian and the ladies looked after us very well indeed.

A beautiful and unique house with a very nice and tending owner couple and staff. Great view and garden, pool side tempting to just lay there forever. Room was spacious and the breakfast fantastic with fresh fruit, coffee, toast, poached eggs and pancakes (or crepes really) (and you can get cereal or sausages or scramble as well).
On Christmas morning the owners served us Prosecco! Staying here is also a great way to get to know people all over the world as you can interact with the other guess as you like ☺️
Sleeping here is probably like everywhere on Barbados - a bit like being inside a jungle with birds and frogs singing, but it’s mostly a comforting soundscape.
A walking distance to shore, also to Speightstown (at least for us, approx 3km).
Seriously recommended for a total relaxation in a stunning environment 🥰
Ps. Good wifi!
