This was my first trip to the Philippines and I really didn't know what to expect. I know what I don't like - big corporate hotels and overpriced Spa Resorts for the 'beautiful people' to spend all day on sun loungers by the pool. I love small country hotels and beautifully furnished B&Bs set in wonderful gardens, so to go and stay with 'The Kellys' in their newly opened small and intimate sea front resort was my Philippine dream resort come true.

We are 3 middle aged ladies who wanted to have a holiday together while visiting relatives in Cebu. We stayed in the superior air conditioned accommodation. This is a villa at the highest point of the garden with fabulous views over the garden and sea. We had a shared toilet and shower room adjoining both rooms.
A little further down the garden are 2 more lodges. One has 2 single rooms and the other is a double bedroom. These as used mostly by people who want to come and enjoy the wonderful diving and snorkelling in the sea below.

Bill and Sally Kelly live in another private villa on the resort. Sally was born in the Philippines but has travelled and lived all over the world with Bill's work in Geology & Geophysics. Having come back to Cebu they have created this beautiful home and are happy to share it with travellers. Sally was keen to give us the whole Filipino experience so every day she had a new adventure prepared for us. Motorbike 'taxi' rides, or visits to other parts of the island by outrigger canoe. Trips to the cities of Bogo and Cebu. Even just gentle rambles into the surrounding countryside were such a pleasure because it gave us an opportunity to meet and talk to the lovely welcoming Filipino people.

Sally will organise visits from the local hairdressers, manicurists and masseurs for very inexpensive treatments in the comfort of your own room. The resort is looked after by a large staff of local people who cook, clean, drive and garden from dawn to beyond dusk. At least one person always accompanied us on every swimming or snorkelling trip to ensure our total safety.

We choose to have all our meals provided by the resort and all the food was excellent. Lots of fresh fish, with fruit and vegetables picked from the garden.

I gained so much from this holiday, new friends, insights into a totally different culture and wonderful memories. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Traveling the whole 44 towns and 9 Cities of the whole Cebu Province here in the Philippines as well as the 47 Towns and 1 City of Bohol, and having been quite familiar of both the Cities' and Municipalities' landscapes- from Metropolitan Cebu (with its 4 cities: Cebu City,Talisay City, Mandaue City, and Lapu-lapu City)- and the different innumerable resorts and destinations of the province and for 4 decades of my lifetime now, never had I set foot in the town of Tabogon as I have always known it to be the remotest and less-developed town in the whole of Cebu Province, albeit it is just adjacent the City of Bogo.

Most Natural Travelers do travel alone, and so I did most times in so many places, and happened to be in Sea Turtle Lagoon in Tabogon. The experience was amazing finding out the Paradox that such a place actually exists in one of the remotest and less developed of all places in Cebu yet blessed with her Natural Flora and Fauna, its like a "Paradise on Earth"- where the sea and heaven meets. For "nothing is left forever but the seas and skies", Moreover, it is a blend of both Nature and, Human Heart and Spirit developing it. From the Limestone Rock Formations, to the vast oceans- where sea turtles many times signify their very own existence, to the plants, flowers, and trees that surround the place, each drawn and perfectly landscaped and carved as if each life has its own and names that only nature can create and give its one its own life. Best place for Families, Reunions, even honeymoons or just Nature- tripping- its a Garden, where one can be closer to God, Nature, and the Earth. Spectacular and just one of its kind where the sun meets the skies too at Dawn. It is a healing place when all else are tired and barren. One of the best in the whole of Cebu and probably in all else and any other places.
Peter Alunan, Cebu City.

I arrived in Cebu and travelled up to the North of the island. Such a lovely trip and when I arrived at Sea Turtle Lagoon Resort I have to say the hospitality and warmth food and resort were first class. It is a wonderful oasis of fauna and flora with a sea view from everywhere. Air conditioned clean rooms also. Everything you could possibly want is here. Just ask the owner Sally and she will arrange it for you. Diving, Diving Course, Travel excursions by boat to nearby islands with a picnic or barbeque, a trip to one of the villages, the mountains or a plane to an island, snorkelling or beauty treatments, a massage in your own room. Perhaps just relaxing watching passing sea turtles with a cool drink. It really is a wonderful place for special occasions perhaps a wedding, Facilities adorn here yet it is tranquility and peaceful too and such a friendly place. Nothing is too much trouble here for Sally and her staff. I would recommend for couples and friends, business also family and solo. It really is a superb place not to be missed if you are looking for a family run pleasant quiet resort off the beaten track with plenty to do if you want to then Sea Turtle Lagoon Resort should be on your map. It really is the best experience, to see and feel the warm, the culture of Philippines people is not possible in a large resort but here anything is possible, truly a wonderful place.

We had the chance to visit Sea Turtle Lagoon Resort for a day. The resort is a bit secluded and I would prefer to bring your own private car/motorbike for convenience. We stayed for a whole day at a tiny cottage on the cliff, it was simple and clean. The view was breathtaking, we can see sea turtles emerging on the water. The only downside was the weather that day, the sea conditions were a bit hard to swim in. We free dive for a few minutes but had to go back because the waves were too strong and it was tough to get out of the water because of the rocks/cliff. We spent the day walking around the resort and lounging in our cottage. It was still a nice experience. We would definitely come back again this year.

Note: This place is within the jurisdiction of Tabogon, not of Bogo City.

This resort is not for you if you are looking for that usual beach with sands. This resort is located along with the cliffs. And that what makes this place special.

The rooms are located in considerable distance. You won't get disturbed if the next room to you are group of friends enjoying laughters. Because thats what we did! We rented an adjoined rooms. We were more than 10. And promise, we enjoyed the night playing games never minding the noise because we knew nobody's gonna hear us.

The staff of the resort? They are the best!

Though we didn't have the chance to swim, we enjoyed just roaming around with the breeze of the sea. I also believe the place is very good for retreats.

I will be back in there for sure.
