We spent here 3 nights for Christmas 2019 and we had a great stay! This is more like a resort than a hostel, we had a private room with amazing Seaview and the food is very very good. The place is very clean and the staff takes care about guests
This is really more like a resort with bunk beds. The place is super chill and have beach bar. The people working there takes care of the guests and the place is clean. very different from the usual hostel vibes.
this looks like a resort and yet one pays only hostel prices. it was lacking in atmosphere but that was fine by me as i just wanted to chill. i had a whole 8 bed dorm to myself with a stunning view of the sea. there's a lovely little dipping pool, in fact it's even smaller than that! essentially it's a place to relax in with a drink in one hand. there was a gym and spa and lots of beds on the beach front. my big issue is that it is stated on hostelworld that it was for 18-36 y o guests only. and on their own site it states 18-40. so that needs clarity. i booked without realising this - on both sites it cannot be said to be obvious that there is an age limit, buried as the info is in the fine print. so i was anxious after booking that i might not be admitted being over both limits! hostelworld washed their hands of me when i approached them and said 'tough' basically - you've lost your money. but when i contacted the property they said it was a rule more observed in the breach! so i'd advise if you are going and are unlucky enough to be over 40 (or 36!) to check first. i think given the number of guests at the place when i stayed they can hardly be in a position to be turning folks away based on their age. so i think you should revisit your age policy as it's not very nice and could be putting people off. nonetheless a hassle free and pleasant stay. very good value for what you get. oh yes - the wifi is capped at 1GB a day as they are using an expensive adsl line as their quickest option. apparently standard broadband coverage has not arrived in this part of the island. although there was a problem getting me fixed up it was not a big deal for me.…
Located right on the beach this hostel is a paradise. They are multiple types of rooms however so make sure you book the one you want. For example they have two types of dorms rooms: one with zircon and one without. For some reason when I booked through Hostelworld the zircon room didn't come up. Regardless the no zircon room is bearable and still clean. Food is delicious and the private beach is amazing.
We like : We fall in love with the shop next door where we've made incredible Filipino friends and sing karaoke together. Also, the Boljoon street food market you can reach by walking around 25 minutes... taste the delicious chicken there for around 200 pesos. That's the only things positive in our stay, and it was all outside the place. We don't like : I am an Asia expat and I travel all around the world since 2011, five or six times a year and never ever, a hotel get into my bags, searching searching in my own (private) luggages to look for... food and drinks ! I came right from the airport with chocolates (birthday gift) bought in Duty Free for 40$ and they ask me to trash it or eat it outside on the street to be able to check-in. I trashed it! Strange feeling after a 9 hours journey between flight and slow taxi. In addition, you cannot go outside without hearing "where you go?". "I go eat outside as the owner recommend to do because he don't want listen the feedbacks of the customers : decreasing prices and offer local food". First day, getting into the reception, need to pay the full amount before seeing the room. Welcome gift: a sheet of paper with so many very rude rules : "you agree here with slow Internet 500Mb/a day", "do not make troubles, we have no mercy", "no food and drinks allowed from outside, if you break our rules, we cancel your booking without refund" (...many things like that). They say that if you've accepted to take that sheet of paper, you already accept their rules. A joke! Be advice that after 10pm - 10.30pm, it's no more possible to buy a cold bottle of water or another drink. The lady in the lobby said "midnight" but the bar is always closed before 10.30pm. And the security guard do not allow you to go outside buying something in the small shop, right next to the place. The called "hostel" say "we are better than a resort, we are a hostel". My feeling, I just want to say, it's not a hostel at all, and not a resort... I don't know what they are, but I never seen that before. Maybe a nursery or a jail !? No body have to listen "don't make trouble", it's common sense, everybody know that. It's like saying "do not hurt people", everybody know it. I am not a child and I am not a backpacker. No body (even my parents) talk to me like that. I do not recommend this place if you like to get respect as a customer spending money for accommodations. I took the most expensive room there. No swimming pool ! This is just a bathtub. It's techniically impossible to swim inside. Maximum allowance of the bathtub : 2 people. No hot water in the shower for 6 days (all our stay). We book a taxi to the airport 4.500 pesos with them (normal price for local is 3000 or 3500 pesos) and they push us in the morning to bring a smelling backpacker with us for free in our private transportation, without sharing the price, all charge for my wallet. My wife was very shy to explain that we do not agree with this indecent proposal. Good luck to the place anyway, change things to make better and do a better advertising for this amazing country and amazing people. The worst behavior I ever seen with my travels. You will not see me again. Respect your customers, they feed you.…
Good hostel Staff were grumpy and terrible would not help at all when asked what we could do around area trips etc Food was good But overall decent spot but staff was a problem felt very unwelcome would only stay for one night max as there isn’t much to do in cebu and have to catch smelly busses everywhere
The Noordzee is situated in a beautiful location in Boljoon. Everything is clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the environment is so relaxing. The cabanas are awesome and there's a small raft tied down in the ocean that you can swim out to and enjoy paradise. The only issue is no hot water, but it's the Philippines, go outside if you want to be hot. If you are looking to explore the rest of the island, make sure to rent a motorbike or scooter from Eddy-Rent-A-Motorbike just a few minutes walk down the road.
We booked into Nordzee for 2 nights. We had a 6 hour delay on our flight between Manila and Cebu. We called ahead to let the hostel know we had been delayed and would likely not be there for our first night, we were told this was okay and they looked forward to our arrival. They subsequently cancelled our booking for both nights, charging us the full amount, charged us a cancellation fee on top of the full room charge and then recharged us for another full amount for the booking if we wanted to stay there upon our arrival, triple charging us for the stay!! I will say the hostel itself is quite nice, clean rooms, friendly bar staff and a nice bar on the beach. However they clearly saw dollar signs when we didn’t make it on our first night and took a us for all they could knowing we had no alternate accomodation.…
Stayed here for a couple of days n here's my review. Great - nice beach to chill with beach chairs and comfy hammocks - great view of the sea - 10min walk to the main strip of town - food is good - helpful security - scooter rental (eddy) is nearby - free water refill Not so great - food price quite expensive for hostel rate - very disappointed no hot shower for the price we paid - the massage price was way overpriced. It's doubled the price compare to other hotel we checked out. Overall was OK.
Noordzee is a GREAT hostel. Easy to get to and good value. It’s beautiful — you can easily stay here and chill at the beach/pool, snorkel off the beach, hang out at the beach bar or in a hammock... or leave for the day and it’s great see the whale sharks in Oslob or other places around Cebu. The staff are very friendly and helpful, pointing you in the right direction to see some touristy, or not-so-touristy destinations. The restaurant is decent, and you can put everything on your tab and pay by card when you check out. We would absolutely come back here!
