Generous sized rooms, comfy beds
We had low expectations based on the reviews we read, but we had a really good experience.
The resort has lush tropical plants, the reception area is surrounded by glass.
Restaurant staff were lovely, so helpful, offering drinks while we were relaxing around the pool, attentive in refilling cups, glasses, removing used dinnerware etc.
Some days dinner was buffet style, other days A La Carte, we found the A La Carte meals to be of higher quality
It’s not a party place, more like a romantic, resort for couples
Resort is right on the Caribbean, but there is no beach, just rocks. Public beach is a 15 minute bike ride away
Great place for a quiet, relaxing holiday

I spent 6 days in this hotel. The food is good but always there are things missing from the menu. The rooms are spacious but a lot of leaky ceiling in the bathroom and I've seen at least 3 rooms like that. Room service closes early at 10am, you should leave it later. The person was very nice. Sergio and Freddy were too kind and welcoming to Jesus. The entertainment is OK and Tita is very nice but there would be more entertainment in the pool. Negative point no access to the beach in the hotel but your photos show the opposite, specify it. And finally, I worked for a long time in a 5 star hotel and I have never seen a hotel with NO LAUNDRY SERVICE, for a 4 star, it's really sad and you should put this service because several people in the hotel made me the remark about it. If I had a rating to give on everything, it would deserve 3 stars and not 4. Beautiful spring on the other hand!

A brilliant resort, small, and calm. The staff are friendly and attentive. The sun-beds are plentiful, no need to rush about placing towels on them, it’s a really relaxed atmosphere.
The sunbeds down at the man made beach is sheltered, a great place to lie and take some sun against the background sound of rolling waves. Soooo relaxing!
There is one restaurant offering breakfast, lunch and dinner, mostly table service with the odd evening buffet. The food is lovely, the Mexican food is particularly varied and good., lovely food. The team including Rafael, Francisco and Enrique were great.
The cocktails service from the pool bar was impecable. the cocktails in general were great whether the pool bar, the restaruant or from the coktail marvellous Mojitos. Bloody Mary, and frozen Margaritas.
The animator Victoria worked hard to keep people included in what was going on during the day and evening. She was engaged with everyone but never pushy, happy to have a quick chat with everyone.
Our Christmas dinner was excellent, well prepared, and well presented, the turkey dinner we chose was beautiful.
We took advantage of the free bikes (fixies) to go into the national park and go to the beach a mile along the road from teh resort. Simply beautiful white sand beaches, not at all busy or rather busy but with penty of space, in spite of it being a local holiday there too. Easy to enter the sea there, safe (though watch out when there are rollers coming in), and shallow. Great fun bathing in the sea there, and sunbathing on the beach,
One piece of advice, take US dollars with you rather than Mexican pesos, everything will be charged in USD, including the local tourist tax taken at the resort, the daily entrance fee to the national park etc… I’d recommend a card loaded with USD as well as cash in low denominations for tips.
A great time, with friendly and engaged people, we loved it...

We booked a 5 day stay here for a friend’s birthday. Kore is listed as a 5 star resort, but none of us understand how. Upon arrival, it is very clear that the property is dilapidated and absolutely not maintained (most of the paint is chipped, huge chunks of thatching are missing on several roofs, the pool is full of algae and the grout is disgusting, etc.). We decided to try to make the best of it and stick it out for a day. There was barely anyone else on the resort, even in the one pool on the premises.

The food was awful. There is one option, a buffet for most of the day, and everything is flavorless and old. The boxed cereal tasted just like the box. The “all inclusive” is not actually all inclusive — you are only afforded the bottom shelf liquor and anything else is extra. You have one soda option, Squirt. You have one beer option, Dos Equis.

Worse, it was abundantly clear that the staff didn't care about any guest or anything in general. They were not particularly friendly. At the swim up bar, the bartenders were mostly not even there. In one of our rooms, the shower didn't work, nor did the TV. The filtered water tasted like a foot. There was duct tape across our room windows and the outdoor jacuzzi was leaking a brown liquid.

Kore is falling apart and it is clear by how the staff doesn't care, the property looks, and how when we asked for a refund, they didn't ask questions or fight us, they just said yes. I almost never leave negative reviews, yet I felt compelled to leave one here. We were bamboozled and I would advise you to RUN if you are thinking of booking this place. We booked the rest of our stay at another resort in Playa Del Carmen. Tulum was advertised to us as an up and coming, developed place but after driving through the downtown area, this is very clearly an exaggeration and not reality. Run.

Kore Tulum

We have stayed at Kore Tulum for 10 out of the past 13 years. This year the overall mismanagement, lack of staff training, serious reduction in the quality and availability of food and services makes Kore Tulum no longer a desirable resort. We are not the only critics. We have talked to other guests (new and returners) who are equally appalled (and saddened) by what appears to be management’s decision to virtually abandon the hotel.

We stayed in a wonderful suite each year. This year, unlike all earlier years, we had to wait 3 hours they said were needed to clean it. It usually takes 40 minutes for their most thorough cleaning.
Some specifics: at many lunches there is no menu – just an offering of 3-4 things. The quality of the food available is poor. There are few services -- yoga, etc. that were originally provided) Overall, the staff are nice but many lack the training to provide the level of service expected for what we are paying. If there is a manager, we have never seen him or her; there is no indication of competent oversight -- no one to talk to about our concerns – with the exception of the very bright woman at the main desk.

Some suggest the current manager is taking money off the top and I can believe this.
We have loved Kore Tulum’s setting and are very sad to lose it as our annual December vacation. We very much hope that the owners and management decide to invest, hire excellent new management, train staff and maintain the facility so that all your guests return and enjoy Kore Tulum again. If not, close it down instead of offering guests something that is never delivered.

Bye to what was a very good establishment in previous years. It will take a lot to fix up this place and win back all the customers lost this year. It is sad.

beautiful setting
we arrived at 1 a.m. there was nothing to eat we waited 1h30 to finally be in our room, I booked a room for 3 people we got one for 2 so I asked for it assigned us another room when the staff opened the door the room was occupied we changed buildings in the rain and finally our room for 3 but bathrobes, slippers and towels only for 2 empty fridge and after 3 we had to ask for it days they filled it except it didn't work
we had a power cut for 6 hours, no water, no light or wifi, no network and the magnetic cards were disabled, they don't even have a generator
very unsmiling and unresponsive staff
only one facilitator and 4 activities offered during the day, nothing in the evening, an unheated swimming pool
no beach in the hotel, you have to pay to go to the nearest beach or walk 20 minutes to go to a small cove public beach
the hotel is quite isolated and what little there is within a 20 minute walk closes at 8 p.m.
there is only breakfast in the form of a buffet and not very plentiful the other meals are à la carte the presentation of the plates is beautiful but the dishes are not great
Apart from the hotel everything is expensive, taxi, visits to cenotes excursions
at check out they wanted to make us repay the tax, saying that they could not collect it because not in dollars even though I was debited fortunately I had checked
spacious room with jacuzzi which we did not use because the water was not hot, poorly insulated, avoided the rooms of villas 2 and 3

Do NOT stay here!!!! My friend and I came and stayed here on a Groupon, super low price and we found out very quickly as to why. This may have been a really awesome place at some point but it is falling apart quite literally. The rooms have black mold, stained sheets, and for a day & a half, no running water. The staff was not the friendliest and they were understaffed for some of the time to the point where people were making their own drinks behind the only one pool bar. The liquor options are bottom shelf. There is only one restaurant and the food all tastes the same, like burnt freezer. Nasty! The breakfast was the only thing potable in my opinion as well as others around. Speaking of people, the place was DEAD. There’s no beach to lay out on or swim in. The sun beds were made up only one of the 5 days we were there. The rest, falling apart and unusable. The pool is nice and refreshing. The hot tubs aren’t hot at all. The pool and hot tub also closed at 7 according to one person and then they were open later the next day. Zero consistency with the staff responses. Everything on the website it states they have, they don’t. The spa packages come with use of the amenities inside the spa however the steam room wouldn’t turn on, the hot tub was ice cold and the sauna wasn’t up to temp. It rained for a day we were there and the roof in our balcony leaked, I mean POURED out into the already unusable jacuzzi that’s out there. I could literally go on forever about how awful the place was. Please spend a little more money, and go somewhere else after reading reviews.

There is a huge lack of communication between travel agencies and this resort things that were offered in my travel package were not things that the resort were aware of. So a spa package was part of it and I was told by the manager who on a regular basis, was nowhere to be found that for a courtesy he would give me 20% off when my package gave me a $200 credit to the spa. I said to him that wasn’t acceptable when I actually did find him two days later. As a manager of the resort one, he should’ve at least called my room. Something to at least acknowledge that I did ask for some thing, but I had to go seek him out. the other employees at the desk had no clue their English was very broken and could not communicate properly with me tried as much in Spanish as possible however, it still didn’t translate completely, so I was told to wait for him to come back. Which is not acceptable. When they close you inside of the resort, safety reasons yes however I felt like a prisoner. Also, how are you or beach resort that you cannot go onto the beach there’s just a pool. In order to get to the beach you have to ride a bike, walk, or rent a scooter and pay to get to the beach when you already paid to come to the resort that is on the beach. The website advertises activities that happen on the resort the days that I was there not one activity happened and I do know that there’s a disclaimer there that says due to weather and participation, events may not occur. However, there was no weather problem and if you don’t try to start some thing you won’t find out whether or not people are going to do it because there’s no sign-up for any of the activities. There was no posting of anything I just had to keep looking on the website nothing is posted not even where are your meals are etc. I also had a Jacuzzi in my room that didn’t even stop up so I couldn’t even use it. So what was the point of that and of course there is no one anywhere to be found to tell them this. I also had to ask for someone to adjust the fan in my room for it to work. I left the resort for an hour or two came back and asked if anyone checked on it and they act like they didn’t know what I had asked for when I specifically called for someone and gave them my room number. Overall, if you’re someone who just once to go fly across the country to sit at a pool this is the place for you. If you actually would like for proper communication to actually go on the beach and be able to have the food and be at the resort with the all inclusive likes so many other resorts that are on the beach that you can actually get to. they have such a beautiful view however, you cannot touch the sand. Not to mention even directions that they give you to go to the beach or go straight and keep going straight until you can’t go anymore and turn that’s not directions for someone who doesn’t know where they’re going to get to a beach. I am a first time solo international traveler however, this was not at all what I expected, and I am completely completely disappointed because it was for my birthday, and I would never go back there again, nor would I recommend anyone else to either.

I can't understand all the negative reviews and they also made us very unsettled, but we didn't let them put us off.
Positive: The complex is embedded in the nature reserve and you feel like you're in the jungle. We booked a room with a whirlpool and a view of the garden, which left nothing to be desired. The room and the bathroom are very large, the floor was mopped every day. Sometimes fresh towels only arrived during the day.
The food was excellent, although the menu repeats every week - but that's normal and OK.
The drinks and cocktails left nothing to be desired, there was enough for every taste.
The staff were all very courteous and friendly, and the service at the pool was also excellent. We would particularly like to highlight Faustino, Benjamin and Andres, they looked after us very well.

Not entirely positive:
The air conditioning in our room was on the opposite wall from the bed. This meant that you could feel the draft on your body right up to your head, so we turned it off before going to sleep and just left the fan running. It bothered us.
The pool water was sometimes very cloudy, which was probably due to the party-loving Americans and English.

If you want to go on your own trips to the ruins, beaches or cenotes, the bikes you can rent are ideal.

I don't want to bad mouth Kore because what I didn't realize when booking this resort is that it explicitly says that it is a "RETREAT" resort. This means that it is extremely EXTREMELY quiet when compared to the other resorts down the road.

I stayed here with my wife Halloween/Day of the dead weekend. So i was expecting a much more lively environment than what I got. Relaxing? Sure, because its so darn quiet. It felt like there were less than 20 people to mingle with at all times. Pool area was never really exciting and they are a little confused about what to play as far as music. You can retire to your room which is nice and spacious with a nice garden view to look at, but when you have to pay $18 a day for wifi even the nice rooms become somewhat claustrophobic.

I do have to say that the food was pretty darn good. The only issue is that during dinner the portions we're much smaller than breakfast and lunch. But its all inclusive so treat yourself to at least two main dishes. Yes there is crappy pizza by the side of the pool but what do you expect. Sit down at the restaurant and enjoy a few options.

As far as service, the maitre d "Gert" is a wonderful human being and he made the stay feel very comfortable. Always open to chit chat, ask how the stay is going, offer insight about Tulum, and make you feel welcomed. The wait staff was decent.
