We are staying at Secrets Tulúm beach club
This resort just opened and has a lot of issues. Wifi is poor. Tv keeps freezing
Rooms smell like sewage hot water and ac has issues.
The staff are amazing Mike and Josias at the preferred club are amazing. So friendly and attentive
Mario at Olio is the best.
The beach or beach area is a half hour drive from the resort
The music is techno and too loud and annoying. No umbrellas at the beach. The beach area is small.
Kinley at the beach club was a terrible waitress forgetting our drinks and then giving a drink I sent back to another customer. Not a relaxing beach time.
The internet is in and out. Tv keeps freezing
Some rooms smelled of sewer we had to be moved.
All of the staff are amazing except for Kinley.
This resort needs a lot of work to finish it. There are only 2 restaurants open for dinner.
Seaside grill which is usually a favourite spot is at the beach and not open after 6 pm
There is so much building going on in the daytime it’s noisy.
We will not return to this resort

It is a new hotel in which you can see that they have invested, but it is far from 100% despite being in operation for a year.
Of particular note:
- the rooms are well equipped, comfortable, spacious and focused to make the experience pleasant.
- leave available to guests a comfortable beach bag with towels, to take to the beach club.
- services: they have a spa, gym, organization service excursions and package sales. The hotel staff is super attentive, nice and above all resolute. The shuttle to the beach club is frequent and comfortable.
- restaurants with different culinary options: you have Mediterranean, Peruvian option, restaurant with outdoor cuts, in addition to one of pizzas and snaks. What we appreciated most was Coco café, as you can have an acceptable coffee with high quality pastries and very tasty sandwiches. Definitely for us the best place.
- beach activities: johnny’s contribution with the organization of activities is welcome and offers differential value.
To be improved:
However, from our point of view there are some things that make it not a 5-star and therefore not worth what it costs:
- in the swimming pools the staff attending is not aware of the guests and do not come to check if something is missing. If you want to order, you have to come and ask.
- if you need any room service or for any chance you require room cleaning outside the usual route, you better not count on it, because no one will show up.
Restaurants don't provide anything differential. The quality is not bad, but also not remarkable. They are 3.5/5 restaurants and if you want to be differential, you have to attend very well to this type of details.
- breakfast buffet with tremendously wide offer but acceptable quality, with poor service. Sometimes it is better to reduce supply and increase quality, rather than overly encompassing and falling short.
It is noticeable that it is new and there is room for improvement, but overall it is a good hotel.

We stayed at Secrets in Tulum for 12 days in a preferred Club swim-out. Room service was lacking; we had to call or chase down housekeeping daily for bath towels, wash cloth and bath mat towels. These things come standard with the room. We only received nightly snacks twice. This service should be daily in preferred club. Our swim-out pool wasn’t cleaned daily. There was a beer can left in the pool for 2 days. It was left my the couple next door .We got tired of looking at it and got it out. We waited almost 2 hours for breakfast in the Preferred Club restaurant due to there being only one chief available. You also get concierge service with Preferred Club privileges. The one time I reached out to them know one responded. The highlight of our trip was meeting Rogelio in the Blue water grill. He was amazing and accommodating. His customer service was excellent! We also enjoyed meeting John the activities guy at the beach club. I’m not happy with the stay/service knowing what we paid for the preferred experience.

When we booked months ago there was no mention that the resort wasn't open yet. When we got close to our stay there was no contact from the resort to tell us we wouldn't be getting what we were expecting and paying for.
We have had no hot water in the room for the entire stay. The air conditioning is unable to actually cool the room. The lowest temperature we managed was 24C. Bringing up the issues with reception multiple times achieves nothing.
On our first morning there was no water at all so we were unable to shower or flush the toilet. We went to make some coffee and realised we had no cups or glasses. There were also no bath robes in the room. All things you'd expect from a 5 star resort. We had days when bottles of water and coffee pods weren't replaced in the room and we'd have to request from reception.
The hotel is not finished and has a lot of building work going on. Even the "finished" rooms and areas are to a poor standard. We had paint on some of the fixings and one of the sinks has no cold water from the tap (although the "hot" is actually cold anyway).
There's a lot of upsell. The $200 of vouchers can only be used in very small amounts against crazy priced spa treatments and wines. Luckily we declined the trip to another resort where you get pitched their timeshare package. We heard some real horror stories about that experience from other guests.
The staff are very friendly but food and service quality is highly variable. We had some great experiences but also some very poor ones.
The beach club is good but the restaurants there are closed. There is a limited food menu though. It's also a 20 minute minibus ride.
The main pool is closed for several hours in the morning several times a week for cleaning.
My partner was given an email address to send our issues to but we've had no response. There's a real lack of customer service.
This was our first Secrets resort and will also be our last.

I loved. It opened in October 2023 and I only stayed in February 2024, everything is new and of high quality. A sculpture by Botero welcomes you. The rooms are super spacious and comfortable! They have many pools and restaurants. The relaxed and luxurious atmosphere of the hotel combines perfectly with the party atmosphere (DJ) of its beach club. And speaking of the beach, theirs is great, super crystal clear and quiet. I think it is a great option to rest and take advantage of the atmosphere of Tulum at its best. Be sure to visit their restaurants because the food is 10!

Alejandro was a great host, always attentive to our needs. Thank you!

If you are looking for a Secrets vacation as in past years, this resort will not meet your expectations other than the wonderful staff that work very hard to look after you.
Rooms:
Operational but very sparse for decor.
Shower temperature was lukewarm at best, even after requesting hotter temperatures.
Water was not available at times during our stay due to being shut off for Service.
No turndown service in our Preferred room
Room cleanup was never a set time so you could return from your day at the pool to a room that still needed service.
There is no closing door on the washroom/shower area so if someone ordered room service and the facilities were being used by your travelling partner, everyone walking in could see you in the shower. No privacy.
Food Service/Quality:
The resort no longer provides the wonderful restaurants that you would experience at the other resorts with the exception of: Coco Cafe, Barefoot Grill, Market Place. Even at these 3 food establishments, the selection of food items is poor and very cheaply provided.
Your 3 selections for dinner was: Olio, Jasmine and BlueWaters
Food was okay but quality was not as good as at the other Secrets resorts.
Bordeaux and Portofino at the other Secret hotels gave you an opportunity to want to get dressed up. At Secrets Tulum, they state "Smart Casual" but if you wore shorts,a muscle shirt and flip flops, you wouldn't be turned away.
Beach:
The beach area is not really walkable and the shuttle service to and from the beach is timely making a trip down there not worth it. You wait to get picked up at the hotel and you wait to get picked up for the return. The bus only holds 10-12 people so you do the math.
Staff:
The main factor that makes this resort enjoyable is the hard working staff. The unfortunate part of this is that the resort cannot break money at reception, there is no ATM on site so the staff unfortunately will go without tips. The only way to break money is to go off site and hope one of the few merchants outside will do that for you. The other option is a 400 pesos round trip into Tulum which is about a 10 minute ride total.
Overall:
Until the resort has worked out their day to day operations, I do not feel that it is worth the $$ or the time that it takes to get there. At the time of our visit, it is a 6 hour flight (not including airport waits) and a 2 hour drive in from Cancun.
Thank you Staff at Secrets Tulum for your kindness and your friendly service which made our vacation

Well! Not sure where to start as my review will follow the tone and insight from previous reviews.
I will start with the positives and that’s the staff and service. Moises, Miguel, Jesus were excellent for our pool service, whether at the main pool or Sky Pool.
Also the Beach Club is a big plus, however, please note that it’s a good 20 minute shuttle drive away with no traffic. Traffic tends to be bad along the Tulum Beach stretch and we got stranded one afternoon when it rained and had to get a taxi back.
This hotel is far from being finished and I personally feel they have had to open to drive some revenue but this in itself has its issues as the extra upsells, such as spa treatments and drinks upgrades are at extortionate prices.
There is a smell of plaster and glue all around the complex as rooms are still being built and the noise of drilling and hammering can be heard well into the evening.
Our room at first glance was nice but then you notice the bare plaster and builders scribble on the walls and this is further compounded with the lack of hot water! Weirdly the toilets flush piping hot water whilst the showers run cold!!
There are 3 restaurants currently open, Olio, Jasmine and Bluewater Grill. You are not given any information when you check in regarding restaurants and facilities but you are asked to download the hotel app. The only issue is the map on the app does not work! You need a compass and a qualification in orienteering to find the Bluewater Grill but when you do it is well worth the visit and the food and ambience is great. (Take bug spray though as the mozzies will leave lots of bites on you).
My personal view is that this vast complex must have taken at least 4 years to build and is behind schedule, so a soft opening had to happen to cover losses and generate some revenue.
I’m upset as we enquired back in October before we left with concerns of the reviews we had read, only to be responded with assurances that the hotel was ready. IT IS NOT!! I shall be speaking with my agent and requesting a refund or credit note as we spent £5K on this holiday.
Hotel aside, Tulum is beautiful with a truly bohemian vibe and we have met some wonderful people. Adios!

We were there for the opening and everything happened to us, it's a shame that it is advertised as a great hotel with good amenities, 24/7 services, premium food and drinks, great facilities, etc. The hotel is not yet ready to receive guests with what it offers, the climate in the rooms fails and you cannot even set a comfortable temperature, it is always hot, the water for showering does not come out hot, the bathtub could never be used because the water came out yellow, in one of the rooms the bed was full of ants, the TV did not work the first day and then it did not even turn on, they offer you a minibar service which they do not leave it full and it is not restocked, the drinks They say they are unlimited and premium and they run out and you can't continue drinking the same thing because there are bottles of which they only give you 1, they run out and there is no more, there is no variety in food, we were never able to see a menu, the Room service It only half worked one day and then what was requested never arrived, the wifi failed all the time and our data did not work well in the area where the hotel is located, the coverage suffered, regarding the shows everything ended very early and it was Too quiet, there were a lot of flies, we all came back with bites and hives, for an adults-only hotel it is quite quiet, there is no music to ambiance the pool areas, only in the Sport Bar but it smells a lot of paint, the pool table is in a bad place You can't use it and play comfortably because of the walls there are and the blocks are only 2 and the same size, in general they still have a long way to go to give us as guests what they sell.

I also want to comment on the good; the super friendly and attentive staff always trying to offer a good service but it is obvious that they do not have all the tools and materials to solve so many problems, many things seem to get out of their hands and they cannot do anything other than be kind so that You leave with a good impression of the hotel. Martin, the guy from the sports bar and who works at the pool bar, is very friendly, as is Mr Diego, the girl from the dance classes who I don't remember her name but we couldn't find her throughout the hotel and in the club beach inviting you to play volleyball, in the pool, etc. Gladys, who works at the Beach Club, is super attentive, friendly, the teacher of the dream catcher class is very attentive and a nice activity, it was the only one we had to do because they told us about others and in the end they weren't done, other people who weren't I remember the names but it is something very redeemable that the hotel has and I hope it continues like this to try to compensate for the flaws with good treatment, in the end the flaws are there and there is a lot to improve. It is not a cheap hotel because for the price We paid, we have had better service and better experiences for less money, we returned disappointed and to a certain extent we even felt cheated.

The resort is absolutely beautiful, the rooms are great, the food was as expected- multiple options, the energy and vibe of the hotel was relaxed and sleepy. If you’re looking for an adult only hotel with more upbeat atmosphere this is NOT it. The pools play relaxing music and it got kind of boring, thankfully we took a small speaker and I swear multiple people came and joined our side of the pool to enjoy the music and thanked us for “waking up the retirement home”.

The staff was overall nice but requesting anything special like an egg white omelette at the omelette station got us a dirty look. We had friends staying in a different room and they never got their robes, advised the desk and they never sent them, which was unfortunate. There is a shuttle to the beach area, I won’t even call it a beach club lol, our driver was wonderful it’s nice that it runs every 30 mins. Overall a nice stay, just hoped for more. We had a dinner reservation off the resort but the cab was charging 190USD to go 5 MILES!!! So we felt pretty restricted to only the resort as it was not within real walking distance to a lot.

We were very excited for the trip based on family members praising their experiences with other Secrets resort. Unfortunatly, our expectations were not met.
Travel from the aeroport is about 2 hours. Shuttle to the beach is about 20 minutes for 14 people at the time. So when it's raining, we have to wait a long time to come back to the resort.
Construction is not finished. When it's raining top floor is slippery.
We don't have a map and nothing is advertise so it took many days to find everyway to where we wanted to go.
Cleanliness in the bedroom could have been more : toilet seat was dirty when we first arrived, wood stains on floor and furniture that looks like blood stains, etc.
For something new, it looks like it was used : toilet and doors where broken in commun area.
Great concept but bad execution.

Although, we could had a better experience:
Food was pretty great!
The concept was beautiful.
Almost every staff were really great, tried to be helpfull, were smiling, etc.
