Detailed Reviews
We stayed here for 7 nights. The Deluxe King room was the perfect size for us and had more than enough storage space for our clothes and bags (bring hangers if you require we got 10). The beautiful balcony was private. We decided on the breakfast package which was so worth it (loved the french omelette and american style plate with waffles). The rooftop pool was incredible and empty at night if you want to stargaze. All of the staff were very helpful and spoke English, (special thanks to Daniel G at the front desk!!) If you need to call a taxi they will have them ready almost immediately everytime. We also rented the bikes for a couples days to go to the nearby restaurants and beach clubs, beware of the cobblestone roads. The Copal Tulum hotel was an incredible stay for our first time here. Enjoy!

Our reservations didnāt work out at a different bnb so we ended up book this on the same day. The hotel grounds are beautiful and well kept. Pools are clean, rooms are clean, elevators are located in each corner of the hotel. The view from the infinity pool are amazing and all the guests have access to it. They offer bike rentals: 11$/day or 4$ (I think) for 3 hours. The rooms are very bright and open and some (not the one we stayed in) have jacuzzis. The television in the rooms have Netflix, YouTube and web browser. They also have a gym, spa, and two restaurants. We would pregame at the restaurants before going out because the drinks were more affordable and stronger there than in the hotel strip. Now the negatives: thereās no iron in the room lol, so if you need one you have ask the front desk and they ask you to return it as soon as youāre done. At one point we also asked for the room to be cleaned, when we returned later that day, it was still dirty. We asked a second time and they came, fixed the same sheets on the bed and emptied the garbage. No clean towels or anything. So we basically had to use the same towels, sheets, and bath mat the whole stay. Other than that, it was a wonderful stay and I would return

This hotel is as gorgeous as the pictures! We got a king suite with private plunge pool and sofa bed. The unit is modern and tastefully decorated. The plunge pool is beautiful and we spent most of our time using it. My best friend and my daughter did the morning yoga and raved that the instructor was amazing, it was difficult and a great experience in a secluded spot on the hotel grounds surrounded by shrubbery.
The staff was great and the cost of food from the hotel restaurant was definitely fair....I was surprised, as most hotels overcharge for buying food onsite. $16 for a full breakfast was very reasonable to me. If you do visit, there's a local restaurant about 5 minutes away called El Camello Jr....it was so good! For $7 you get a massive plate of food that was deeeeliiiciious!
Copal definitely did not disappoint, the pools are beautiful, the scenery is calming and you feel like you are in the jungle. The staff all adhered to covid protocols and there is free wifi. You definitely want to visit this place!

+1
The hotel staff were very helpful and accommodating as our flight was delayed by 2 days and they managed to house us for an extra day which we appreciated greatly! The hotel itself was also beautiful, the communal areas are to die for, very clean and bright!
However, I do believe it is quite expensive for the actual hotel room standard. Our room was cleaned daily which was great, but I believe for the price we paid (Ā£1.3k for 9 nights for a king studio with a private pool), I wouldnāt say it was value for money.
On top of this, upon checking out, we were told we had to pay for a dirty towel that was in our room. This then changed into a dirty bed sheet after a few minutes of me and my partner asking questions. They asked for the sheet to be brought out and the stain they were complaining about (see photos) was tiny! And they charged us 60 USD for this, which was ridiculous!
This definitely left a sour taste in our mouths and ruined the holiday for us. As this was the last encounter with the hotel before we headed to the airport. So if you stay here, beware as you may be charged!

Thank you very much for your comment. We are very sorry that, in the end, you left with a bad taste in your mouth because of the issue of charging for the whites. Before charging any garment, we wash it first to check that the stain does not come out. In your case, the sheet was very badly used.

Absolutely beautiful, big rooms (take a Studio!), delicious fresh breakfast, best sushi in town. Search no more, this is your best, new and beautifully decorated boutique hotel in Tulum.
We entered the room (Studio, no pool) and were so happy with the beautiful design, big space, fresh bath room. Every thing is new plus you have a kitchen. The room has a homy feeling. We had a balcony that overlooked the tropical jungle garden, absolutely beautiful. The Pool is a nice place to relax, swim or read a book. We loved the fresh breakfast from chia pudding to fresh fruits (you will return to Mexico for this), a croissant or fresh banana bread is there too. And a fresh cappuccino or espresso and they're the real ones. Expect a vibrant atmosphere, young people, families and happy talks. As a couple you can rent bikes to go to the centre (shop, souvenirs, delicious traditional and real Mexican food) or to the beach. Mind you, it's quite hot so 20 mins biking is far in the heat.
After a few nights, the GM upgraded us to a Studio with a pool on the balcony (ground floor) and yes, we were even moire spoilt. Also, the staff is so kind to recommend you some nice beach clubs, restaurants and sightseeing too. The front desk helps you to arrange tours to Chitzen Itza or nearby places like Tulum temple or Snorkeling in Genotes. One thing your HAVE to go visit is Azulik museum and Mystika.
If you haven't visited Mystika, you don't know what soul of Tulum feels like.
With KIDS. GO HERE! Supernice staff, a big room (take a studio), everything is clean an d fresh, whatever food you would like they will make it for you. The GM gave our daughter (4) a chocolate egg and Andres gave her a balloon. She said after three days when we returned from the beach by taxi: my house. Wow, a hotel that feels even for kids like a home, my deepest respect for the whole team of Copal Tulum. She ate fresh fruit platter every morning, sometimes a croissant or banana bread.
She loved the fresh fruit juice too. They cooked her pasta with vegetables, or rice or sushi, whatever she loved they will help you out.
When the kids are tired, make sure you lay them to rest in bed or on the couch. The best idea is then that you can order In Room Dining and as you have your own dining
table, you have a nice dinner and can sit on the balcony or relax and read a book.

Stayed here with my girlfriend. We are a couple in our early 30ās. Took 1.5 hours to check in (very slow)The room we originally paid for was not available so they downgraded us for the first night. No water in the gym and the hotel only gives a little free water until 6 pm (gives water in shot glasses) then if your thirsty you need to pay 5 dollar per bottle.
Hotel is wayyyy over priced. Service is slow and bad...food was gross and expensive. Coffee was super expensive.
ANDDDD to top it off they charged me double for my food bill on the way out. Luckily I notice the mistake and after ācheckingā for 30 minutes they said they would refund me the difference.
If your looking for a nice relaxing time...I suggest going elsewhere. Gross food, no service, and wayyyyy over priced.

Receive a cordial greeting from Copal Tulum Hotel. We regret that your experience has been this way. Our check in process is very quick for guests that arrive to our property with a confirmed booking. In your particular case, since you did not have a reservation, we took on the task of showing you the different room options available at that time. Therefore the check-in process was a bit longer than normal. Since we are not an all-inclusive hotel, we do not have a 24-hour food and beverage service, however we place in every room courtesy bottles of water upon arrival of our guests and we have daily courtesy juice water in the lobby. We regret that the food in the restaurant was not to your liking. We do our best every day to improve in all aspects. Sincerely Zina, Copal Tulum Hotel Guest Experience Manager

This place exceeded my expectations. Absolutely stunning property the pics on line just really briefly captures the whole aesthetic. The reviews I read before booking were all so good. The location is perfect right in the middle between the beach and the city centre. The area is a growing a developing hip part of town with a lot beautiful real estate. You can rent scooters or ATVs for your stay, they also have bike rentals for $11 a day. Whatever you need transportation wise they can accommodate at the front desk just let them know. The staff was AMAZING they were so helpful with literally everything from dinner reservations at restaurants, getting taxis, extending our hotel room (we were only supposed to stay 4 days 5 nights ended up stay 2 additional days and got to keep our room). They can be reached during your stay via text thru WhatsApp for any concerns or needs which was super convenient. They have yoga on site every morning and massage therapy offered as well. I had a 60 min deep tissues that was so good and needed!!! A pool in the midst of the jungle with a kinda lazy river and a rooftop pool to watch the sun. There is a reataurant on site with really good food that is reasonably priced. I will definitely be coming back to Tulum and staying at Copal it was the best part of my trip. #Booking 10625 Thank you for everything and making my birthday special.

Copal Tulum was an amazing stay. Had a jungle getaway feel with pathways weaving through tropical flora, a beautiful downstairs pool and open air restaurant which had pretty decent food actually compared to the usual hotel food I had, and a rooftop infinity pool with a decent number of lounging chairs and cute bean bags.
The staff was amazing and helpful, wheni approached with questions, but they typically left us alone to enjoy ourselves. Fruit infused water daily in the lobby was one of our favorite things. Small gym but it has the essentials but very hot as I couldnāt get the AC to work. The hotel is about a 5 min taxi or 15 bike ride from downtown and they had plenty of bikes to rent out which we used. It isnāt the most peaceful bikeride but there are bike paths to the city so that helps.
Room was cleaned daily and the grounds were kept very clean. My one question: What is the cleaner or perfume used in the rooms?? The smell is AMAZING and no one I asked could tell me what it was. The Copal charcoal on the property was nice, but I really want to find out what the room scent was.
Thanks!

The hotel looks ok and the decor is nice, but there were a number of issues with it:
1) Itās about a 10 min walk to the nearest supermarket/cafe. The hotel has no restaurant/ bar and charges for water, so if you are on your own and itās dark outside, youāre kind of stuck with absolutely nothing. If you want to get supplies, e.g a lot of water bottles, youād have to go even further to the big supermarket and taxis are super expensive, see point two
2) taxis to the beach or to the main strip cost ā¬50 USD each way. If you go once to the beach and once in the evening to the restaurants, you already spent ā¬200
3) they wouldnāt give us two keys for the room, even though we paid for two people to stay there. Which meant that when one of us wanted to stay out later than the other, that person had to do so without a key at all
I actually forfeited my last night there to go to another hotel that was better located near some amenities, because I felt like the copal became a bit of a prison. It doesnāt feel particularly safe to walk around the hotel, itās very close to a kind of shanty village and there are a lot of building works around it and stray dogs. I wouldnāt walk around that area alone even in the day.

My wife and I also have a problem with the hotel refund process. When we arrived at the hotel we were asked to give our passport or pay MXN 4000. Of course we paid the amount by card and they told us that a refund would be made within 10 days of our stay. We have now been trying to contact the hotel for 1 and a half months without success. Could you please tell us if your problem has been solved?

Washington DC, District of Columbia119 contributions8 helpful votesWe are planning our summer vacation and need to know how far is it to a public beach. I read that there is a nearby cenote for swimming. Some hotels are next to the beach. Is this an advantage or disadvantage? Thanks!
Hi Richard, a public beach would be around 10 minutes bij taxi. A cenote is 15 to 20 minutes by taxi. Hotels on the beach would charge for renting a beach chair USD 30-50 for a full day stay (minus consumptions you use). Selinas is nice, Villa Estrella, Panamera Hotel. If you walk in and have lunch in a normal chair, also available on the beach or around the pool, you dont have to pay for renting a day bed of course. Go. Copal Tulum Hotel is a lovely place. You'll love the mix of spending a day at the hotel pool, at a cenote or in a relaxed beach club. Don't forget to visit Mystika Museum, a must see!!
