Kanan Tulum is a central fixture in the Tulum area, much appreciated by guests for its prime location near the beach and local commerce. The hotel's vibrant atmosphere, featuring live music and DJ sets, has received acclaim, though it may be too lively for some. Cleanliness is a standout feature, with travelers noting immaculate rooms and pristine beach areas. While the rooms earn praise for their aesthetic and comfort, concerns about noise and privacy have been raised.
The service is generally celebrated for its attentiveness, despite occasional lapses. Views on value are divided, with some guests finding it reasonable and others pointing out pricey aspects. The amenities, including the beach club and unique dining, are consistently lauded for enhancing guest experiences.

This was our first visit to Tulum. This hotel was a great experience. The rooms are very spacious and deliver a sense of privacy. The location is pretty good, you’re in walking distance of fine dining, nightlife, scenic artwork, bars and shops. The beach is vibrant especially on the weekends. Tulum isn’t cheap, dining and drinks are pricey but delicious. We didn’t have one bad meal anywhere. There were only a couple of downsides about this hotel. No TVs are in the rooms for the serenity effect, however noise from nearby bars defeat that at night. The pool area is lackluster, it’s more of an area that you’ll see in a garden versus getting in the water to enjoy. But being that the beach is just steps behind the pool it made up for that. There is also wildlife surrounding the hotel. A raccoon was on our roof one night, which was a little scary. But security took care of it. There’s very little staff overnight and things don’t get started in Tulum until after 9AM. Otherwise we had a great time at this resort.

Dear Guest, Thank you so much for taking the time to post your review of your recent stay at Kanan and your recommendations for future guests. Also, I want to mention the lovely benefits to don't have a TV, which is to connect with your loved ones during your vacations and the beauty of natural surroundings. Been in the jungle is a big compromise to preserve de wild fauna where we are the intruders, a specialized company to catch the raccoons and then release them again in the jungle is part of our ecological compromise with the nature of Tulum. Our swimming pool is a plus for our guests during seaweed season after enjoying the magical blue waters of the Caribbean, but I appreciate your comment and point of view about it. Kudos to our exceptional staff in-service & the attention to detail. Of course, we hope to see you in the near future on your next visit to Tulum! Happy B´Day! Kind regards, Gabriel Maya G.M

Me and my partner are staying at Kanan Tulum for 5 nights after 5 nights at Moon Palace Cancun. I am writing this review whilst on my beach front sun lounger, watching the beautiful surf lapping in to the white sand. We have a treehouse and what an amazing experience that has been. There is a rainfall shower and giant natural bath in the room. Each treehouse room is made from a different tree. The
room is big! It is a little dark for makeup application but it has to be that way as it completely suits the ambience of the room and setting. It was my birthday and so when we checked in, there was a giant balloon installation above the bamboo bed. So kind and thoughtful of the team! It is like that 24/7 at Kanan, they are so attentive and genuine. You can what’s app the team at anytime for help, requests, room service, advice etc and they check in to make sure you are ok periodically. They honestly cannot do enough. Damian is the manager and is a lovely guy. So kind, big heart and a joy to talk with. He works So hard, long shifts and always is happy and goes out of his way to make you feel at home. The beach club is amazing and the staff there are all so brilliant and you are treated like royalty. The walk along the beach is breathtaking and you can gain access to jungle gym for free by requesting a pass from Kanan reception. We have a rental car, parking is inside Kanan, don’t miss the slip entrance as you approach as turnaround on the beach strip road is interesting! They valet park your car for you inside. Little foot bowls to wash the sand of your feet are strategically placed. We tried the on-site yoga which was brilliant! We had dinner in
a rooftop nest one night which was also out of this world. Tulum is expensive but I recommend this 100% and it is reasonably priced compared to many restaurants in the beach area. The guest services guys and the reception team are brilliant. They helped us with various tricky bookings and answered
all my endless questions, Joel, amy, Isabel, Tania, Javi. You are in the perfect location for a fun filled holiday, - it is vibrant and loud so do not stay here if you are an early to bed person, although they cut the music at midnight at the various venues nearby. It has been an amazing experience and so here is my genuine review to hopefully help you make your tulum hotel decision. One of the best hotels I have ever stayed at - thank you 🙏🏻

Hello! You don't know how happy your words make us, it's true we work very hard to make the magic, but every second and every effort is worth it, we love what we do, from the moment that we have the first contact with our guests until they tell us back home and they tell us that they arrived safely, people like you make everything that is not seen worthwhile, so you have nothing to be thankful for, thank you for allowing us to be Kanan, and for experiencing the magic of being here.❤

Kanan was the most unique hotel we have ever stayed. The pictures don't due the property justice. There are stairs and walkways to explore that take you to lookout nooks everywhere.
Pros: The staff is great! Everyone is very friendly and accommodating. Free safe, onsite parking. The food at the hotel restaurants is very good. We really enjoyed the views from the nooks and the vibe around the beach lounge chairs. The grotto style pool is beautiful! The room is very unique and comfortable with lots of wood throughout also. The jug of water in the room was very much appreciated.
Cons: The beverage service on the beach is a bit slow, but worth it. Our complimentary coffee that was delivered to the room every morning was lukewarm and never came with cream or milk. The yoga class was a joke, don’t waste your time. The club music and live band from the neighboring establishment is super loud and goes until midnight. I read this warning in previous reviews and disregarded it. We are in our 40s and go to sleep before midnight (even on vacation) and this was brutal.
Tips: Don't drink the tap water, or even use it to brush your teeth. You will get sick. Take bug spray with you everywhere. The main road through the hotel district is dirty, dusty and narrow but worth the walk to explore. You don't need dinner reservations in town if you arrive at the restaurants around 6pm.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your feedback on all the details described, Pros and cons. Just to go deep into our water system I need to clarify that you can use it safely without any problem for cleaning purposes and as you mentioned: For drinking, we provide our Water container with purified water and is located inside the closet which is refreshed every day in each room. We are monitoring the decibels daily at night to assure our guests can rest properly while staying at Kanan, sometimes due to our neighbors, this is out of our control. On behalf of our entire staff, we wish you to come back soon! Sincerely, Gabriel Maya General Manager

Stayed here for 3 nights last weekend and the place itself is beautiful. I think it’s one of the best looking resorts on the strip. However the food is good but overpriced. I know food in Tulum is overpriced but it wasn’t even close to being worth it. The biggest issue we had was the tip hungry staff all the way around. The waiters will bring your bill to you and point out to you that the total due doesn’t include a tip. And they will either stand there and wait till you write in the tip or come back and look at the bill and see how much you tipped. Tips are meant for the customer to show their appreciation for the service but at this place you’re pressured to give tips whenever possible and you can tell the waiters just see you as an opportunity for a tip. They don’t really do anything just because they want to see you have a great time or enhance your experience. On your last night, the housekeeping staff will make a nice little design with your pillow and towels and put a envelope on it. That envelope will say they loved having you and here’s an envelope for you to put your tips in for them. Housekeeping requires tips too?? Everyone pays more than enough to the resort for all the services they’re getting so either the resort doesn’t pay its employees enough or the employees are always showing their greed. It definitely affects your experience.

We were not expecting such a unique and unforgettable experience when we arrived at Kanan Tulum. From the street the hotel is definitely hiding what reveals to be one of the most stunningly designed and executed hotels Ive ever had the pleasure of staying at. The hotel's lush and tropical design makes you feel like you are staying in a jungle treehouse. lush greenery, branches and plants decorate every walk way and stairway. The beach facing exterior is breathtaking, with nests, beds, swings, verandas and walkways to explore. Relaxing on a bed in a branch woven nest, looking out to the beautiful blue see was an unforgettable experience. Brunch and breakfast menu served to us by the friendly and attentive staff was delicious and fresh. Dinner taken in one of the roof top nests, over looking the jungle was incredible. We even had a Mezcal tasting session before we dined. The rooms are bright, clean and spacious, with a stunning wooden bathtub made from one piece of wood being the showpiece. The balcony over looking the beach divine. This hotel has the perfect mix of having the choice to let loose and have fun with friends, or take it easy and be secluded and romantic with a partner. Making it the perfect hotel to go with friends or a loved one. Of all the hotels we've been to at Tulum, this was my favourite and I cant wait to return.

My girlfriend and I traveled to Tulum in late February and I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful our stay was. Even before we arrived, the staff was incredibly helpful in arranging a transfer from the Cancun airport to the hotel. Despite travel delays resulting in our arrival at midnight, we had no issues getting the private van, complete with wifi and much needed cerveza, and arriving to the hotel.
Our room had a balcony directly overlooking the ocean and we were able to wake up with the sunrise and enjoy our complementary coffee and biscuits taking in the stunning view each morning. The hotel itself felt like we were staying in a luxurious tree house. The hotel has really done a fantastic job building in a style that resembles the environment and ecosystem of the surroundings. There is direct beach access with full service dining and drinks, and the rooftop bar was perfect for early evening cocktails and photoshoots. We didn't get a chance to go to the spa but it looked very relaxing and the daily yoga sessions were great.
While the entire staff was incredibly friendly and nice, we wanted to give a specific shout out to Isaias and Catlina at the front desk and Jonny at the rooftop bar. They made the experience better than what we had ever hoped for. Isaias had fantastic recommendations for dining and nightlife.
I've been ranting and raving to anyone at work who will listen about how great of an experience this was and I can't wait to come back again.

From the attention to details to the full relaxing experience the Kanan staff made our trip one of the best birthday experience so far. Joel from client services txt me days before my arrival to arrange airport transfer. We were welcome with a delicious drink made from local fruit (passion fruit I believe it was) as we were in shocked to see the amazing interior decor of the hotel lobby. The attention to details elevating nature and modern days amenities it’s a must experience while in Tulum.
As a recurrent tulum traveler, this place was my absolute best stayed. Words can’t describe the service provided by Ricardo and Julian at the restaurant/bar. From preparing my favorite green juice early in the morning after my morning walk, to recommending their favorite local drinks was a plus. The uninterrupted beach views to the refreshing jungle pool Kanan proved to be a great place for adults looking to disconnect and relax. I was surprise by a bday gift from Roger, Joel, Pablo, and Ricardo. Started by a very relaxing and cleansing spa treatment by Pablo, highly recommended it; to the delicious sunset dinner in one of the nest table watching over the Mayan sunset.
The rooms are cleaned daily and your morning drinks (coffee or tea) gets delivered every morning to the side door. The wooden tub in the room it’s mesmerizing. I’m sure I’m missing some names but everyone from the front desk experience, security to the housekeeping are there to make the experience unforgettable. Thank you Ricardo, Julian, Joel, Ruby and the other guys.
I am forever grateful to the Kanan staff for making my birthday week unforgettable. Will see you guys soon.

This was our first visit to Tulum after a lot of recommendations from friends. There are many beach clubs on the strip to choose from having checked a few out, we stumbled upon Kanan. The moment we walked in the entrance we were kindly greeted by the Security. From the outside it looked like any other beach club. Kanan is different it’s so funky in design it just blends into the surroundings, the craftsmanship is different gravy you have to check it out!
Onto the staff at some places we visited the service was ok and staff could be quite pushy on settling the bill and already expecting 15% to 20% tip when the service wasn’t great. On day 1 at Kanan the vibe felt different the staff all were friendly and were great at making recommendations on food and drinks.
A special mention has to go one member of staff Frederic this guy knows customer service of the highest order, after a few days it felt like we had known him years, he still would find time to help you even when really busy and always with a smile. Not just Frederic all the team at Kanan are happy to help in anyway.
The Food and drinks at Kanan are top quality and I’m quite fussy about food and never had a bad meal or snack, the chef here knows his stuff.
If you want beach club action trust me Kanan is a must on your stay in Tulum!!!!

Kanan is without a doubt my first choice hotel to stay at whenever I come back to Tulum. The hotel is literally on the beach and it was gorgeous. The staff did a very good job at removing the seaweed where other hotels had beaches with a lot of it. The architecture is absolutely fascinating, you feel like you are eating and staying in a luxury birds nest with the most incredible local woodwork. It was one of the most visually appealing hotels I have ever stayed in and I travel frequently. The food was also delightful, the beef in particular was one of the best cooked meats I have ever tasted. The staff were friendly and attentive and I have too many good things to possibly write down about this place. 5 stars!

Hello, thanks for your interest, we are in the busiest and most important area, there are many bars and restaurants, so there is music, but only at authorized times.
I did not sleep there so I am not sure what to say. I think this is better question directly for them.
I am not sure about that and I did not see anyone there doing it. I can tell you that while I was at Casa Teka cenote which is on Tulum beach road and very close, that a couple that "forgot" their swimsuits were told that they could swim without. This cenote is beautiful and you have access for the food/drink cost of $30 or $35 USD. You can check it out online at Casa Teka. Hope this helps. I had a fine time with my clothes on though if that is any consolation. Have fun and sunscreen up if you go nude fo sho. No suncreen in cenotes though!
No, they don't provide on-site, but there is a testing location that is a 2-minute walk right down the street. It was $50 USD when I was there back in April.
