Detailed Reviews
We loved the place is very nice marble floors, nice areas, the pool and gardens are very big for the amount of units, this is what i consider a high end condo hotel , the suites are big and tastefully decorated, we didnt used the beach at the reef club, the front desk staff at paseo gave us directions and a discount card for drinks to use at the corto maltes beach club another ocean front property administrated by encanto resorts, the beach there was amazing and right in the middle of the 5th avenue the center of playa del carmen, we are going back next month, we are looking into buying a condo at el faro a beach front property located beside Corto maltes its almost finish and is administrated by the same group, we are seriously looking into buying, it seems that area is full of renters and charm, Encanto Resorts was a great surpise, the concept i described as high end condo vacations in the heart of a booming playa del carmen.

A group of us we down in Playa del Carmen for a week over New Years. We stayed at the Paseo del Sol Condos. We had 3 units. 2 out of the 3 were great. They were 2 bedroom units in the Reef building, 106 and 306. They were very nice. It seemed the unit 106 was used quite a bit by the owners because it had the extras and was great. We had a roof top unit 305 and was not the best. Also the 3rd floor units offer a roof top patio and we really did not use it as much as we thought we would. There was a leak in our side of the buildings roof. The smell of mold and mildew was so bad we did not even use that room and kept the door shut. We just got back and I will be contacting the rental company and see what they do.
The pool was nice and the rest of the property was as well. The Coral building facing the pool looked like it had some nice units.
As for the VIP cards available to us for The Reef club resort across the street was a project. They only have so many cards to use and the Reef club only allows so many extra people in. We were denied entry 2 times. I will put a small review on the Reef club in as well. I would go back to Paseo del Sol again, but would be more careful of how I chose my unit.

The condos are absolutely beautiful and they are in a prime locations. They are really spacious and decorated beautifully. Five star for sure! They all have a washer and dryer, so don't worry about over packing. The beach is a 2 minute walk, just across the road. There is a Walmart 8 minutes away ($5 cab ride) and that is where we purchased all our food. The condo was very dead when we went there so we usually had the whole pool to ourselves which was nice so we could play our music and relax. The pool is absolutely gorgeous and the resort is cleaned to the tee. The location is about a 10 mintue walk to the town or a $5 cab ride. The town is FABULOUS with lots of stuff to do. I recommend checking out the bar "Senor Frogs" if you like to have a good time. Also Coco Bongo was AMAZING.
The condo also has a gym (non air conditioned...oh well) with good enough equipment.
I've been to lots of all inclusives and it was nice to be in a different environment. Yeah, you had to make your own drinks and your own food, but you also had SSOOO much more space and NO ONE at the pool.
Overall, it was a great time.

Let me get the good out of the way first to make way for the bad because there is a LOT of that: This condo complex is luxurious, roomy and has a great pool.
Now for the bad: Barely any towels and no toiletries in the bathrooms, no coffee, no concierge to speak of. Yes, we went to the desk several times to fix the above but it is like trying to move molasses. You just get the feeling at this place that there is no senior management and the desk clerk and security guard are just winging it. You step out of the room and the place is dead most of the time.
The kicker was this: the time changed in Mexico (daylight saving) on April 1 when we were supposed to check out and catch our airport shuttle. We did not know this and when our shuttle driver arrived at the hotel with our names and room number, the security guard (Mr.Reyes) told him 'nobody here with that name'. We scrambled to the airport and made our flight but I have called them to complain of this several times since then and somehow the front desk manager Mr.Cruz is always 'away from the desk---back in 20 minutes'. I know someone from Paseo del sol reads these posts, so if you want to make goodd on this (a check for $50 which I spent on the cab to the airport will do it), you have my e-mail.

We stayed at the Paseo Del Sol in 2014. We have done several condos in Playa Del Carman, and chose this location as it was across the street from the Reef Resort, which we had free access to when staying at the condo...or so we were told.
We used Azul Paraiso as our property manager when we booked our condo through VRBO. We stayed at # 476022. We had Rosi and Alexander as our property managers, and NEVER again would we use them or recommend them. We should have known when we were constantly being bumped from one condo to the other when we were booking our condo. We were booking two as we were going with another family. We were first asked if we would be willing to switch, would would cause us to be further away from the family we were travelling with. I declined for this reason. Well they moved us anyways. Then they moved us again because it wasn't going to be ready due to renovations. It appeared to be one story after another, and I get the gut feeling that neither reason was legit. Upon arrival we had to wait for our condo to get cleaned. We had a long day of travelling with little ones, and we didn't get to check in until evening, when it was supposed to be ready for 3pm.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Upon checking in, we were told very clearly that the children were not allowed to be on the couch if they had sunscreen on, so this left us very paranoid. Then we were told to make sure our hands were clean from sunscreen before using the towels as the sunscreen discolours them. It didn't matter how much soap we used, there still was residue left on hands and got onto the towel and stained them. We were then lectured over this after the maid was cleaning the bathroom and reported this to the property manager.
The facility itself was nice given it's location and pool. The condos are all individually owned and ran by property managers. Our condo was nice, but after we settled in, we realized it wasn't so great after all. We needed two rooms with a queen bed and one room with single beds. Well the one room was slightly bigger than a closet with a double bed, which was where we were having to sleep. It has a window that was next to the hallway with no curtains. At night the hallway lit up, so it was bright in the bedroom. The bed was too small for two adults, it had no closet. Then we found out are A/C wasn't working. We emailed several times for that to get looked after, and it never did get fixed. The fan/light in the living room was controlled by a remote control and at some point the batteries went dead and we couldn't turn off the light, so the light had to stay on all night. Honestly, it felt like one thing after another.
We were also told that we would have free access at the Reef Club across the street. Well it turns out they limit the number of people per card that is given to us from the property manager. Also, they limit the number of people that can have access to the resort. There were a few days we did not have access to it because of this, and this was the primary reason we rented at this location.
CHECKOUT: We were very clear to Alexandar as to the time we had to check out. We explained it the night before and he said that he would meet us in the morning. The time came and he hadn't arrived. We waited, and waited and finally called and he said he had someone on his way. We waited and waited and called again and he said he was almost there. We waited and waited and our shuttle arrived and he had to wait for us to get our deposit back. We were worried that we would have to leave without our deposit to get onto our flight on time. We waited a couple hours and he finally showed up and did a quick walk through and give us our money. This was completely unacceptable. When we asked at the front desk, another property manager, we were told that there have been complaints by others when using this property manager. I recommend that if you want to have a good holiday, please don't use Azul Paraiso or Mexico Playa.

We booked this three bed condo because of the photos listed online and being told there was beach access through the hotel across the road.
Our condo was outdated and the bathrooms especially needed to be updated, towels and bedding was old and washed out, had we known these were privately owned condos before we would not have booked, our was nothing like the photos shown online.
This place is NOT 4 star, more like a good 2 star.
The beach access is limited to 20 rooms and a number of condo complex on the road have card to access The Reef, if you are not there by 8.45 waiting in a long line you have no chance of getting in and its a maximum of 4 per condo so if you have a larger family only 4 of you will have access, we did not know this when we booked. There are a large number of home owners here and its them that must be leaving the good reviews online.
Old and noisy AC units.
Expedia said 'daily maid service' we were told the maid would come only once in our 5 day stay and no more.
Playa Car is a great area we were just disappointed with our choice to stay here.

I could give a rating of anything from 1 to 5 for the Paseo del sol and would advise anyone booking to take care. I booked at the last minute through Expedia and tried to contact Paseo del Sol by 'phone and e-mail prior to arrival to make sure of our room requests. By 'phone I kept getting a Spanish voicemail and had no response to e-mails. I was somewhat anxious about this but not unduly concerned. Unfortunately, for various reasons, we missed a connecting flight - I tried again to contact Paseo del Sol to tell them we would be arriving 12 hours later than planned (on Saturday rather than Friday evening) but again only obtained the Spanish voicemail. I contacted Expedia who called me back to say they had managed to contact Paseo del Sol and they would expect us a day late. When we eventually arrived after 36 hours travelling we waited at Paseo del Sol reception for over an hour and a half as they could not find our booking and eventually told us they had no 3 bedroom apartments available. I learnt that about 3/4 of the complex is managed by one company who deal with the likes of Expedia whilst the other 1/4 is managed by another company letting mostly to Russians. The letting agent of the latter company who was in the lobby said he could help us out and showed us one of his three bedroom apartments. It looked as if it had not been renovated since the complex had been built and was rather depressing - we were also told we would have to pay for electricity, drinking water and cleaning. As we were all exhausted from the travel and this seemed the only option we reluctantly accepted. By Monday and having made a long list of maintenance problems with the apartment I had had enough and told the front reception we would have to be moved - I showed them another receipt from Expedia indicating we had paid in full in advance. Suddenly they had a number of 3 bedroom apartments available and we spent the morning looking at very nice, new and clean ones. We then moved into one on the top floor being told it would include cleaning everyday, no extra charge for drinking water or electricity. I do not know if this is generally the case or whether they simply felt bad about messing us about. I have since been told by Expedia that after I e-mailed them the day after our arrival to tell them of our problems they re-contacted Paseo del Sol to re-confirm our booking and indeed sent a fax. That may be why we were found another apartment on the Monday. However, reception were adamant they had no three bedroom apartments available when we arrived and the ones they showed us on Monday had only become available after the weekend. Indeed, two they showed us were still being cleaned. I am still not sure what went wrong. The apartment we ended up in for the last two and a half weeks of our break was very nice (not luxury and 4 rather than 5 star) - it was sufficiently spacious for our family of five adults and had everything we needed. However, the third bedroom was small and the air conditioning was not very efficient. The beach is NOT ACROSS THE ROAD as other reviewers suggest. If you do not want to walk through the Reef Hotel which is opposite Paseo del Sol (we preferred not to), the beach is actually down a short road opposite Paseo, through a wooded area, along two other short roads - about 10 minutes - not really a big problem but definitely not across the road. Self-catering is not that easy (and we are used to it on our various travels) as there are no shops of any substance for food within walking distance. The Megga (avoid Wallmart which is awful) supermarket is a ten minute taxi ride away so don't forget to buy the essentials when you get there. Had we had not problems at the outset my overall rating would still be a 4. Very nice and comfortable with a very nice pool but not luxurious. I would though make as certain as you can that every aspect of your booking has been confirmed - I thought I had done so and am not sure what else I could have done. The reception staff were all very nice and helpful although it sometimes took a while for things to be done.

We stayed at Paseo Del Sol in a 3 bedroom Condo with a beautiful private rooftop patio. We were there for 2 weeks and have not one complaint! It was exactly as we expected. It was literally only a 5 minute walk across the street to the beach. The condo was safe, clean and well appointed. We will be back with our family!!

This is a wonderful place to stay. We had a family of 7 and stayed in Reef 102. We were close enough to the lobby to receive the free Wi-Fi, which was fantastic for the whole family. We had a 3 bedroom condo with beautiful furniture, modern kitchen, leather couches and television in each room. The unit also had a fantastic variety of recently released movies and mechanical blinds that moved up and down to make each room dark.
The pool is clean and was steps from our patio. You could receive towels from the front desk for either the pool or beach. Since the units are not on the beach side, you have to cross the street to the Reef Hotel. Our unit came with a pass to the Reef Hotel, but as others have said you cannot buy anything. It is an all-inclusive and for $40.00(US) you can enjoy all you can eat and drink from 9am to 6pm.
It is a true 15 minute walk to playa del Carmen, and a taxi will cost you $7.00(US) for them to drive you that 1 mile. It is another $7.00(US) if you want a taxi to drive you back. We rented a bicycle and if anyone wanted to go town, it would take 5 minutes. The bike shop also provided a chain and lock.
If you have never been to Cancun or Playa Del Carmen, I would suggest you bring sunscreen/bug repellant spray or cream. The mosquitos are small and they love tourists!
Our family went to the local supermarket and purchased food for the week and only went to town for dinner. I found the staff friendly and they have 24 hour security.
I would highly recommend this place to any traveler.
