What a hidden gem! HIGHLY recommend!! The owner Daniel is very hospitable, goes above & beyond for his guests! He is very knowledgeable about the island & travel in general. To start we were greeted by his fur buddies Chocolate, Whiskers, Freddie, & White Dog♥️ Totally warmed our hearts!!! Eduardo greeted us with a smile & had our rooms ready quickly! Owner Daniel & His little fur buddies walked us to Don Jose (excellent & affordable). Chef Daniel made us a tasty evening cocktail & a delicious breakfast, chef is absolutely adorable! Excellent way to spend our last day/night in Cozumel. Literally 1-2 minute walk to a residential park and 3-5 walk to the airport! Car rental right next to hotel if needed for excursions. Bar & sundeck above hotel nice to lounge! Strong WiFi, Roku tv in room, fridge, microwave, very cool A/C with fans, great open shower, shampoo/ soap, filtered bottled water, ultra soft toilet paper, towels for clean pool, tables and lounge chairs in courtyard. We had keys to front gait & our room like having our own villa. Thank you!!!

This is a hidden gem amongst a residential neighborhood within walking distance of the airport. Don't let others tell you differently, it is safe to journey around even the deepest regions of Cozumel. The views of the culture are wonderful to see.
Everyone, primarily Chef Daniel and Edwardo, are 2 of the greatest people you will meet at any destination. Chef Daniel is a top notch gourmet cook and will delight you non-stop. He also makes extraordinary drinks and his bloody Mary and margarita will not disappoint. He comes from many years at a large hotel. One thing to keep in mind is there is no kitchen at Casita. Chef Daniel must go to his home to prepare meals. Drinks are prepared on sight.
That bothered me to put him out of his way to cook. Running back and forth to his home with meals on a motorcycle. This was the only thing that I could say was other than perfect and keep in mind, it's only a feeling of mine. Again the food was beyond great.
The hustle and bustle are a few miles away at the waterfront, where the cruise ships anchor. I like being away from that and being able to visit it with a short 100 peso cab ride whenever you want. If you want crowds all the time of tourists, book your room there. But keep in mind, Casita is the number one or number 2 ranked hotel on the island. One tip, stores at the waterfront charge more while the ships are in port. Wait till after 5 when they pull out to negotiate better prices of bobbles and trinkets.
Daniel the manager (not Chef Daniel) can help with daily activities, getting a cab or rental car or anything else you may need. He has several connections. Today as I write this review, we are preparing to go on the 3 hour gourmet pirate dinner cruise on a pirate ship. All the alcohol you want for about $85 per person. I will try to check back in to inform how the cruise was.

Hotel is super cute with pool and wonderful patio. Walking distance from airport and they can help you set up transportation and activities. Owner Dan really looks out for your best interest and Eduardo and his wonderful family takes care of the grounds and basically your every need. Rooms were clean and we were well taken care of. We rented a moped for the week and we’re able to get anywhere on the island easily from this hotel so you will need transportation. They have parking available and really go above and beyond. Food is available to order by Chef Dan as well as many local restaurants not far and of course the main strip if that’s what you desire (5 minutes drive). This was a wonderful hotel experience where we were taken care of without the hassle of being in the middle of all the tourist area, loud music, and partying. We loved casita de maya.
Thank you Dan Thank you Eduardo and family (especially Ele the future boss)

My family and I stayed here December 26th through January 1st. This is a great place. The owner, Dan, was extremely helpful and provided great recommendations for restaurants and a wonderful beach club, Buccanos, which I highly recommend. Chef Daniel cooked delicious breakfasts for us and always greeted us warmly, and even helped get us taxis to/from the dive shop we used (Deep Blue.)
Overall, Casita de Maya is a great home base for Cozumel. It's affordable, charming, literally right across from the airport, and the staff treats you like family.
Thanks Dan and to the entire staff!

I ended up initially at this hotel in July 2020 because most of the places I usually stay at were closed. I loved it so much that I jus returned yesterday from my second stay. This small private hotel has 8 rooms. The rooms on the first floor are about 5 feet from a small swimming pool that I jumped in every day before getting going. Some of the things that will make me return are as follows:
1. friendly staff 2. safe enclosed property that can actually lock the front gate to keep people out 3. extremely clean rooms 4. across the street from the airport
The only issue is the distance from town. It is a 5 minute drive. If you are a big walker it is not an issue. Also there are taxis available or like me, you can rent a car.
I almost forgot something important. The price is right. Prices like Mexico used to and still should be.
Call Dan or Lalo directly or you can use a booking engine like Expedia.
I do have one complaint. It was that I had to come home and I was not able to jump in the pool at Casita de Maya this morning.

This one night stay at this sweet hotel was one of the highlights of our trip. So personal, the staff totally bent over backwards to make our stay the best it could be. We had a nice dinner made by the resident chef and the kids enjoyed swimming in the pool. It was very chill and relaxing to sit by the pool, drink in hand and listen to the music playing softly in the background. The rooms were clean and authentic. This place couldn’t have been more perfect for us. I was a little worried it wasn’t on the beach, but we didn’t miss it. We had to leave to catch the ferry at 6:15 and a taxi was called and coffee was hot for us on the way out the door. Thank you so much Dan and Daniel for your kindness and hospitality.

The service and hospitality is spectacular and we were made to feel at home in this quaint hotel that is walking distance from the airport and car rental. Absolutely loved my stay and the staff! I will definitely stay here again.

This boutique hotel was the perfect chill out spot. Convenient-we walked to the hotel from the airport . Yes it’s literally a 5 minute walk. When you exit the airport. Look for the Alamo car rental sign (across the street) the hotel is located next to the Alamo. Check in was seamless. If you have knee issues ask for one of the 1st floor rooms. The stairs to the 2nd level are a little steep. Rooms are comfortable. We stayed on the second level which had a lounge deck right off of our room . Great spot for morning coffee, breakfast or cigar smoke. The service was impeccable from Dan and his small staff (Daniel, Eduardo, Joli). If he's available, he'll run you to nearby places in his car. We caught up on our steps by walking to the beach, restaurants and grocery stores. We were also impressed with how friendly the locals are and how we felt safe, even after dark. We went to the waterfront where the ships dock, but didn't like how aggressive the shop owners were to get you into their places of business. We literally ran to escape the relentless requests and got back to the less touristy neighborhoods.
There are a few resident dogs that we found to be utterly delightful. Super friendly. There were also a couple of puppies next door at the rental car place that my wife would've smuggled home if she could've. (They, and their mom were adopted by the locals before we left).
A great home away from home with Dan, the best host on the island. If you love dogs and like a laid back place to stay, this is your spot.

The photos of Casita de Maya are beautiful, indeed, but they don’t begin to convey the warmth of the owner, Danny, his top-notch chef, Daniel, and his staff, the lovely Jolie and Eduardo, who all embrace you with their generous spirit and thoughtful touches. My husband and I returned yesterday after a far-too-short 5 day Getaway and we’re already making plans to return. Soon! Daniel made our two favorite dishes: ceviche and lobster. I challenge anyone to find a fresher, tastier version than his. It is incomparable. We rented a dune buggy (which Danny helped arrange) and explored the island alone one day, which was a blast, but we really enjoyed joining them for a family style dinner together with their children in some place whose name I can’t remember (they have beet tapas and I love beets). We felt like family, safe, cared for and actually heard. I am coming back for a week as soon as my Ladies Group can agree on a timeframe and if we can’t, I’m coming back alone, that’s how safe I felt as an “oldish” woman. The rooms are cute as cute can be, the beds are clean and comfortable and there’s even very efficient air conditioning. Walking distance from the airport? Yes! So what are you waiting for? Try it for yourself; you may never want to leave.

I recently stayed at Casita de Maya for an extended stay as I was in the process of taking some time off for a relaxing getaway. I noticed that they had a small single type apartment setting with a Terrace for me to have a little privacy while in Cozumel. The staff here are just wonderful. Jolie and Eduardo, who keep the hotel spotless and very well maintained, took care of all of my needs during my stay. Daniel, the excellent chef here, makes excellent breakfast, and dinners that I really enjoyed. It was nice to have a TV with a Roku and free Wi FI, along with a fridge and a microwave and free fresh drinking water. Coffee was served fresh every morning. Dan the proprietor was very kind and friendly who always pointed me in the right direction. A great place to stay and chill. I would definitely reccomend it for an off the beaten path experience in Mexico.

Many beaches around the island so cant be specific,
but for example San Francisco beach about 20-25 mins
in a cab...if you are wanting just down on the main drag
for shopping and dining (and a few small beaches) then 5 minute
cab ride. You could actually walk but it would be a hike
especially if hot and humid!''
You will not regret staying at Casita de Maya..its an awesome place!
Easy to get around by cab,,and no where closer to cozumel
airport (an easy 6 min walk)!

Hello,
Thank you for your inquiry with us. Our pool is not heated. It is still quite comfortable until around mis December. Yes we have bottom floor rooms that can accommodate mobility scooters, and have double doors that are plenty wide enough to pass through.

Good morning,
Thank you for your interest in our facility. We do offer a Family Suite option that includes 2 rooms that adjoin to each other. One room has a queen bedroom, and the other had 2 twin beds. A common door separates the two rooms for privacy. The pool is located steps from each room. It's not a deep pool, about 4 1/2 feet deep. The waterfront is about 12 blocks walking distance, and a beautiful beach area is. Short 10 min can ride away.
Regards,
Dan
