I wanted to share our latest experience at Sunscape Sabor Cozumel, I believe this was our 5th time staying at the resort. It was an enjoyable stay overall, with some minor hiccups along the way. One of the highlights of our experience was the staff, who were great. It's always wonderful to have friendly and helpful staff members to make your stay more comfortable. However, the resort seemed understaffed, especially in the restaurants. This caused some delays and longer wait times for things, especially drinks, so we would advise others to bring their own drinks and water bottles if they don't want to wait. The maintenance staff was quick to fix the air conditioner in our room when it was leaking. It's always reassuring to know that issues are resolved promptly. The availability of hobie cats, kayaks, and snorkeling gear is a nice touch, and the beach was well-maintained and great for snorkeling. Unfortunately, the inlay in a ring I purchased from a vendor on market night fell apart after just a week and it does not seem to be made of the material that the vendor promised us it was. It's a good reminder for future guests to be cautious when purchasing items from vendors and to thoroughly inspect them before buying. I would say that you should assume that what you are looking at is not legitimate and ask them to prove that it is. Overall, Sunscape Sabor Cozumel has a lot to offer and is a great value, but there are certainly some areas for improvement. ****One exceptional staff member that went above and beyond for us was Amilcar with the bellhop staff. The bellhop staff seem to be the most helpful members of the staff, in an extremely sharp contrast to the staff at the front desk. Amilcar even saved the day for me one day as I was returning in a taxi from a day trip. I had lost my cash and the atm onsite was not working. Amilcar paid the taxi for me and I returned later to settle up with him.…
This is a destination budget hotel at best. The rooms were not great, the adjoining doors were screwed shut and you could hear EVERYTHING. Common areas were not kept clean. Cigarette butts everywhere. Very kid friendly though. The kids pool was well kept and inviting. Our ac stopped working twice. We finally asked to be moved. The front desk guy Sam was a jerk about it. Finally had to get kind of rude. They lost our bags in the room transfer for an entire day. The second room they put us in had not been cleaned. Black hairs EVERYWHERE. Had to contact our travel agent to get us completely out of the resort.
My husband and two adult children just spent 7 days at the Sunscape. We had rooms on the ocean and our stay was fantastic. The staff is amazing and works super hard to make sure you have whatever you need. Samuel at the front desk is amazing, Rosina our breakfast hostess greeted us everyday with a big welcoming smile , Gilberto, Nicolas, Garni and Christopher were just fabulous and did everything to make sure service was great and you are having a great time. Alfredo who was the bartender by the pool bar was absolutely outstanding!! The food is good, the drinks are plentiful, the ocean is perfect to swim and snorkel in and the views are the best!!!!
First the good: massages, beach, food, and hard working waiters and cooks. The bad: the beach chairs are awful and there are not enough. Sunscape sits between sister hotels Dreams and Secrets. The owners want you to feel bad about choosing the cheaper hotel by depriving you of comfortable chairs and they also rent out daily passes to the cruise ships the chairs which are there not enough of for those paying to stay at the hotel. They also try to sell time shares when you arrive, so beware! There is only one pool which also does not have enough chairs and the same uncomfortable crappy ones. The beach is better than the sister hotels beach. It's unfortunate this resort does not realize the positives it has going for it by choosing not to make easy fixes for people to return. We had to stay for a week in a room next to the staff's garage/shed where they are constantly hammering, etc. which is not ideal if you would like to relax in your room. The resort is nice for families to enjoy and a reasonable rate with lots of water activities and friendly staff for kids. …
Diving is amazing, Food is good, rooms are small an outdated, staff is great except Naomi. She can't seem to tell the truth. Beaches are amazing and the alcohol is plentiful. Don't think I'd return back , Dreams is next door. Jose from the dive house is an amazing dive master and I recommend him to everyone who's thinking of diving in Cozumel.
We generally enjoyed our time at the Sunscape. The room we had initially was quite worn and had no view. After one night, I asked Samuel at the front desk if something nicer was available. They were completely booked that night but we got to move to a much nicer room with a view the next night (our stay was 8 nights). Samuel did a good job of looking after us. The number of restaurants was somewhat limited (three) but the food was good. The service at the restaurants was generally good but we ran into a couple of times when service was subpar (similar to the US). The beach was beautiful. There was some seaweed but they do a good job of keeping the beach clean. Water shoes are recommended if you are going swimming for there are a number of rocks as you enter the water. The snorkeling was not as good as two years ago. We took a $10 cab ride (each way) to Sky Reef and enjoyed an afternoon of great snorkeling. The activity director, Sara, is personable and kept us as involved as we wanted. The service at the bars was generally very good. Jesus was an exceptional bartender. I have been fortunate to travel to a number of all-inclusive resorts in Mexico. I have been to some very fancy ones but I certainly would not hesitate to return to the Sunscape. It is simple, relaxing and has a beautiful beach.…
This resort offers the bare minimum. The beach is nice and the employees are also. They only have 2 restaurants where others have 4-5. It’s bare bones as far as most Mexico resorts offer. I will not return
Orlando the dj was the best!! He was so nice and played such good music. He made the whole night so much fun and definitely would recommend him as a dj again. He was very friendly and knew how to get the party started! Orlando gets a 10/10!!!
Came to Sunscape for large family destination wedding of nephew and his bride. Selected Sunscape since only one of the three linked resorts allowing children. Nice secluded beach location away from town. Spent 4 nights. Overall posititve stay because we came to support the choice for the wedding and not so much about the location. Do have pros and cons to share. Be sure to plan ahead and bring small bills you'll need to tip the hardworking staff that shine in what they do. We booked shuttle to/from airport through resort with Amstar; made getting to resort easy and spared walk-up negotiating on arrival. Pro: Resort is small area and everything is close. Attractive tropical landscaping. Reception lobby inviting and open with comfortable sofas while you are checking in. Roberto welcomed us right away and was quick to offer us drinks. Remember the small seldom busy bar just off the lobby for cocktails and coffee. Was surprised the live music at night from the beach bar did not seem to carry into our room. Beds comfortable and loved the overhead showers. Ceiling fans in room. Good number of American cable stations but didn't spend that much time watching TV. Had attentive & friendly housekeeper. Pool was "family friendly" with easy entry for small children and plenty of shallow water space. Loved the water slides. Don't miss the exciting evening Fire Show. Market Cafe, buffet style, located between Sunscape and Secrets, a good choice for breakfast; get there early for outside tables on the deck. Con: Check in was slow. Was told 15-20 minutes and didn't get room keys for over an hour despite asking many times. Room air conditioning didn't work and wasn't fixed until following morning. Suprised most dining places had dress codes too restrictive for a beach resort but they were seldom enforced. Food quality overall was unremarkable. Popular walk-up pool snack bar served good burgers, fries, and nachos but was very understaffed and usually had long line. A member of our party used a wheelchair and walking surfaces sometimes difficult to navigate. Limited handicap provisions. Difficult to get commitment for handicap room. No elevators so stairs only way to upper stories. Sunscape served the purpose of nice economical location for family destination wedding with different ages to consider. We'd book again.…
Amazing resort and staff. The night club is a must, great DJ(Orlando) great guy always a fun time with him around. Lots off other great staff members but Orlando is one I’m going to remember. Spent Christmas and New Years there and had an amazing time.
