We have visited the Blue Angel 16 times over the last 8 years. We come back because of the relationships we have made here. Everyone from the Divemasters, Restaurant personnel, and Gardner always remember us and our names. The location is perfect and we would not even think of staying elsewhere. Thank you Eva and The Blue Angel Staff. See you again soon!
First things first: this is my first stay at a dive resort; so no real experience here. But as small resorts go, this one was charming, effortless, warm, friendly, and relaxing. Pros: - Very experienced/knowledgeable dive team - Effortless dive excursion scheduling - Conscientious valet crew to keep track of your Eanx mix, BCD, and gear - Super friendly staff all around; from the front-office, to the dive crew, to the restaurant team.I can't stress enough how much they got to know everyone and tried to create a familial atmosphere. This is the kind of staff that get to know your preferences quickly, and stick to them - All the rooms are large, the beds are on the firm side, but every one of them have a great view of the water - Housekeeping visited daily, and left things untouched - The food. The breakfast options were many, and honestly most of them were delicious (even after 7 days!); portions were huge; everything was made fresh; and the quality was high. Very satisfied there. - Free wifi internet speed was at least 50mbps in most areas of the property Considerations - This is solidly 3 stars; simple amenities but all focused on what divers (and their +1s) are likely looking for - Bathrooms could use a refresh, but very clean -…
Very nice resort that is functional and nice environment for divers. Only minus comes from the rooms being extremely noisy. The doors are directly facing a noisy street and are super thin and you can hear all the noise exactly as loudly as if you had no door at all. The room is very basic but it is clean and it is functional for divers. There’s room on the private balcony for drying stuff, and it’s a nice place to sit and have a drink in the evening. You can get drinking water from a dispenser outside the room. We requested a double room when booking, but were give a twinroom and we couldn’t switch it because they said the hotel is full, which was a bit disappointing at first, but the beds were wide enough for us to sleep in the same bed anyway so it was fine. I would recommend this for divers, as the diving operation is very good, and it’s convenient to stay in the same location, and the resort pool and yard and other premises are nice enough!…
Pros: beautiful grounds! The pool was nice but rather cold. They have lots of sitting areas. The waves crashing made great ambience while sitting around the pool area enjoyable. Every room has a view of the Caribbean sunset. Staff is helpful and helped us arrange a Jeep rental and massages. They will also help you hail a taxi. Resturant is perfect! Wait staff are friendly and will even serve you downstairs on the grounds. Food is amazing and reasonably priced. If you stay at the hotel, you have a complimentary breakfast each morning. Happy Hour deals everyday from 4:00-6:30 PM! 1 commentary drink upon arrival per person. Rooms are clean. You get a card to get a pool towel. Books and games are provided in the reception area for guests. Community restrooms are clean and there are 3 available. Husband dove with the Blue Angel Dive Shop and he enjoyed his dives. Water coolers on every floor. Memory foam pillows were awesome! Cons: The bed was very hard. We had to stack the extra mattress from the other bed to be able to sleep. Water pressure was low which made it impossible to rinse shampoo out of hair. For a diver it wouldn’t matter much but being a non diver the clinking of dive tanks goes on for hours in the morning. All room entry doors from floor 2-4 face the street and you can hear all the road noise and conversations. Specific rooms/floors cannot be reserved. We were told we could request when we arrive. We ended up on the fourth floor, which the only way to get there was stairs. It was difficult for me with a bum knee, and they had no one to help haul our luggage up four flights. If we return they will have to guarantee a room on one of the lower floors. My husband did not return from dives until after 1:00.…
Second time was even better than the first! Love this place. We have been to Cozumel over 10 times the last 8 years, and we have finally found our place. Boutique hotel with delicious restaurant, cool vibe, live music, oceanfront rooms, dive shop that goes over and above and lots of wonderful people that aim to please. Close enough to walk to town. Sergio in the restaurant is so personable. What a pleasure. The dive masters, Andy, Marcos, Mateo and Ramon, were just what we were looking for. They are concerned about safety, but allow you the freedom to make the dive your own. What a treat. The only problem was that Lalo wasn't there. My husband was very disappointed. Cheers Eva! You have a great thing going! See you again soon.
We spent five days with these wonderful people and I cannot say one bad thing about any of the service we received while there. The room was very clean and comfortable and the views were phenomenal. The restaurant food was great and we did not feel the need to go anywhere else to eat. The restaurant staff made us feel like family and it was a bittersweet time when we had to leave them. I know we will go back to see these wonderful folks and spend more time with them I highly recommend this facility to any traveling to Cozumel.
My wife and I just visited Cozumel together for the first time not on a cruise. I'm a long time scuba diver and she has no desire to dive. Because our day stops off a ship are about the 2 of us, I choose to spend that time with her rather than under the water. This trip was 5 days though, so she insisted I find somewhere that I could easily get a few dives in that would also be easy access to downtown, restaurants, etc. I'd always heard great things about Blue Angel, so we booked and then anxiously awaited our trip. Upon arrival, we found the hotel to be very clean, with friendly staff everywhere we turned. They offer a welcome lunch (also free breakfast every day), so we started our afternoon with that. EVERY meal we had there was amazing. Our wait staff across the days we were there were Enrique, Saul, and William...you will get top notch service from all of them. Between remembering our names, little things we liked with our meals (that we usually can't get a waitperson in the US to remember when we tell them 10 minutes before), to genuinely going out of their way to make each meal memorable. Our room was large with a gorgeous view of the water. We happened to be on the 4th floor, so while it adds to what you can see, it does mean climbing a few stairs. We didn't mind, but just something to know. Also...while there's not a hair dryer in the room, just ask at the front desk, and they'll be happy to accommodate you. It's been mentioned in several other reviews about the entertainment and how incredible it is. We typically go looking for music in town when we travel, but we found ourselves saving the cab ride and loving the experience at the hotel. Finally, this is definitely a diver's hotel. Yes, the tanks are clanking pretty early, but we barely noticed. I'll review the dive aspect in a different post, but know that there is decent diving and snorkeling right from the grotto like area at the hotel. It also happens to be right next to the stingray petting excursion, so while they're behind a net, there's quite a bit to see. Our next multi-day trip there will definitely be back to Blue Angel.…
If you are a diver and are looking for a convenient hotel on Cozumel, I would recommend. If you would prefer to sleep past 5 a.m., however, hard pass. Dive tanks were delivered and staged starting at 5, with no hope of sleep for the next 2.5 hours. Add traffic noise (which we did expect) along with dumpsters emptied at 11 p.m. The restaurant was lovely, though dishes served lacked ingredients listed on the menu.
It was the phenomenal voice of Silvia Rivera that drew us to this hotel in September 2022. However, this hotel's owner, Eva, and staff were like family after just a few days. Amazing scuba services were available onsite from the instructor Julio. Live music happens there every night. Great food in the restaurant. San Miguel is just a short walk or ride away. We will book our next trip there for March. Cannot wait to go back and dance to Silvia's songs.
Just returned from a week long dive trip with a friend, and I can't wait to go back. I've dived with Blue Angel many times, but it was my friend's first trip to Cozumel. The entire staff at Blue Angel (Hotel, Dive, and Restaurant) are very personable, and treat you like you're a part of their little family from the minute you arrive. Eva and her staff will definitely take care of you, so go check them out. See you all when I return in January!
