Kathy has built what is the best hostel I've ever stayed at. The pool, open courtyard, and kitchen are all very enjoyable. I stayed in an 8 person mixed dorm. Hot water shower in room and 1 additional shower available outside. Laundry lines to dry clothes and towels. Free wifi. About a 10 minute walk from the ferry. This area is not the tourist area so you need pesos and to try and communicate in spanish to buy food/shop in area. Currency exchange and ATM nearby. If you have any questions, ask Kathy, she's a great host. As a solo women traveler who's older (42) I felt right at home here. It's not a party hostel, everyone's usually in bed by 11pm. I met some great people and had a wonderful time. Important note, stores stop selling beer at 5pm on Sundays!!
What a great stay! The owner Kathy took great care of us, she was helpful all the way with where and what to visit. The place had a great pool and other cozy outside areas fx the kitchen, were you can sit and chill, while people are making food. The rooms were great to. 10/10 stay! Thank you Kathy!
I love this place, I have been there twice and stayed 3 weeks the second time. It’s quiet, it’s very clean, there is a nice garden with hammocks, a swimming pool with sunbeds, a kitchen with everything you need to cook, a poolgame and cute cats and turtles walking around. The beds are very comfortable, you have curtains and your own power plug, rooms is big enough and have lockers and AC. Kathy the owner and her son are very nice, they will take time to explain everything you need to know for your stay on the island and help you if you need anything like renting a scooter or a bike, booking a snorkeling trip for cheaper than anywhere else. I also had opportunities to talk in spanish with the cleaning lady who is also very nice (sorry I forgot her name), she helped many times. This place is also good to socialize with other travelers, most of the people who come here come for snorkeling or diving and it’s always nice to share experiences with others. I will definitely come back to this place if I have opportunity to stay in Cozumel again.…
Had a great weekend in Cozumel at hostel Amigos. Really enjoyed the pool and the silence of the place. The rooms are extra clean, and the beds are great. The common areas are spacious, and all the green areas make you feel like in a country house. This hostel is a true hidden gem of the island.
It was great. All the facilities were super clean, so it is a COVID free place. It is a very good place to stay if you are getting your PADI certification. The host is amazing, she is really helpful. Also, the hostel has a very good location, everything is close.
Anyone that is going to cozumel and is looking for a good hostel nice and clean with an owner that know her island by heart have to go there we had an incredible service and no question left without answer. I think she own one of the best pool on the island. It is not a party hostels but you can have fun having couple of beer listening to your music with respect 👌 for the price it cost we were more than satisfy and we even had our private parking formour scooters at night!! Enjoy guys
We have been staying at Amigos for 16 years now, 5x in total and it’s always Great! Kathy is an amazing host with all the info and local intel you could hope for. We always book the avocado room, like to eat out, picnic and cook a little so it’s perfect. A lovely 6 block walk to downtown will help you from packing on those holiday pounds and everything you need is close on foot. The pool, gardens, hammocks and Elvis the iguana are like a little oasis behind gates.
Very nice place to stay if looking to visit Cozumel on the cheap side. Perfect for those interested in diving. It also has a really great kitchen so you can make meals, and hang with other travelers. Remember to only bring canned beer! Glass can't be recycled on the island.
Clean, well maintained hostel with a nice pool to cool off and relax after a long day of diving. Very secure. Owner Kathy is wonderful and makes sure to give all the info to get around and have a great experience. Room was clean, had more than we expected in terms of kitchen supplies. Nice bathroom with hot shower. Not a party place which is great. Good reliable WiFi so I was able to get work done which was an unfortunate necessity while there. Reasonable price, although we discovered that the hotel some divers were staying at was about $10 less/night and closer to the dive shop, but that’s on us for not doing more research. The only reason it didn’t get 5 stars is because of its location. It appears closer to the waterfront than it is when you pull up the map on this site and on hostelworld. It’s quite a long walk from the ferry and sidewalks/streets are not in good repair (to be expected). The neighborhood is safe, although you get to see first hand that the tourist dollars are not really helping raise the standard of living for the local people. Not a lot in the area around the hostel so we ended up eating closer to the waterfront each evening after diving and walking back after dark felt uncomfortable as we are two women and not familiar with the area (would feel that way anyplace so not a reflection on the people there). All in all very glad we stayed. It was a good experience and very low key and non-touristy which is what we wanted.…
I booked this hostel without checking too much before, all I wanted is to find a bed for a few days in Cozumel and I found a great place, clean, safe, with amazing people and it was too good that I didn't want to leave the pool.. I highly recommend to come with enough time to enjoying the hostel and the island
