I love this hotel, but they are closed and taking bookings and redirecting to Casa Mexicana. Deceptive and they acknowledge. It is a bait and switch which screws divers looking for the benefits of Bahia. Just off the phone with them and the bait and switch is just part of what they do.
I booked an Ocean View room with Suites Bahia. We have seen these rooms before and they are big with a full size fridge and microwave, dining table, and a big patio with a great view of the waterfront. However Suites Bahia has been closed since the pandemic began! We were told it was closed for remodeling but when we got there we found out the truth. It hasnt been open for more then a year!. I was informed a week before we got there that we would be upgraded to CASA MEXICANA. Shame on you! While Casa Mexicana might be newer this was no upgrade at all. The patio for the ocean view rooms are tiny with very little view at all. Definitely not worth paying extra for, and whats worse a bar somewhere, somehow seems to pipe music right onto the patio. Sometimes the music is good but keep in mind it is always playing with no chance to even talk on your phone to anyone while out on that tiny patio. What is worse is that they somehow managed to change the usual excellent full breakfast buffet to just a continental breakfast for those that are switched to Casa Mexicana. I do not understand why the breakfast buffet is not back since the Covid Traffic light is Green in Quinanta Roo, but giving the guests that booked at Suites Bahia a smaller breakfast wasn't what we were expecting nor what we were used to when staying there. We were planning on cycling the island that morning and needed the calories! We complained and got the regular menu breakfast the first day "Complimentary" which was really quite good, but not the 2nd day when we were refused it, even when it was apparent that I was upset at not getting the full breakfast. In Summary. If Suites Bahia is closed, take it off of Booking until it is reopened. I did not wish to stay at Casa Mexicana and if I had known of the new breakfast rules we would have stayed at Plaza Cozumel for less money or El Cozumeleño for $30 more but with all inclusive and beautiful ocean view rooms. In hindsight if I had known all this beforehand we would have cancelled our stay at Suites Bahia and just stayed at El Cozumeleño. I doubt we will be staying at any of this hotels properties in the future since there are lots of options on Cozumel.…
I was looking for an inexpensive centrally located hotel for a quick dive trip. I booked via booking.com and the reservations were accepted, confirmed and paid for. I arrived and took a taxi to the hotel only to find it was closed, no signs or other information. I asked the bartender next door and she said she thought they were owned by the same people as Casa Mexicana and that people were being rerouted there. I walked a few blocks down the street to Casa Mexicana and she was correct. Casa Mexicana is being used for all guests due to the much slower traffic os covid. Casa Mexicana was nice and I will stay there again, I cannot comment on Suites Bahia.
Great hotel - very clean, great service and located in the heart of Cozumel. Will stay there again!!! (That was 101 characters, but Trip Advisor wants a min of 200 characters for a review. I hope this is it.)
I wanted to give Suites B another chance after their renovations. On the renovations, they have done a great job. The room is much nicer now and the renovations give the room a more modern, updated look- it looks like everything in the room is new, shower, table, tile- even the refrigerator is new. Nicely done. As usual the showers are hot, the beds comfortable, the place is clean and the location is convenient. What more could you want? Perhaps some quiet at night? Sadly the bar across the street plays loud, loud music until 2:00 AM- and if you have a room with a balcony then you get to experience it all! After 3 nights of almost no sleep, it became intolerable. I have been coming here for over a decade and I have really liked it, but being so close to the loud bar it's now time to choose somewhere else- there are MANY alternatives worthy of your money…
