First off, I would just want to say that the staff at this hotel are top notch. From the front desk to the bellboy to the pool bar waiters to the housekeepers, 100% the best and really the reason we love coming to Mexico. That being said, this is a hotel on the decline. Nothing really against them - just is what it is. The hotel was very clean, the pool and beach area were nice, and the snorkeling area was great. But it's just old. The average patron has probably been going there year after year for a decade. Our kitchen was sparsely stocked - 2 pots and not even 1 pan to cook with. The restaurant closes at 4 PM so no food available for dinner and the pool bar closes at 6 PM so no booze after that. Pretty much an over 50 vibe of smokers and drinkers. Bet this place was awesome back in the day, but won't be a repeat stay for us. …
Very disappointing. Ocean view room old outdated no fridge. Old dingy pillows. Poor excuses and No to everything. Place used to be good. Hotel will nickel and dime you to death. I would avoid and stay elsewhere. They even charged for coffee in the room . Smesh
Emilio is the absolute best waiter at Coral Princess!! He is so kind and attentive. Every time we needed anything he made it happen. Emilio made an extra effort to provide our group special attention. We loved having him wait on us. He’s just the best!
Good value, nice location, dated improvements. I'll itemize things down below, based on prior comments I've read, and what we experienced. We stayed in a 1-bedroom King Suite ocean view. 1. As almost everyone else reports, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Remember that you're on vacation, most of us from a different country. Things are not exactly like where you've come from. If you're polite in your requests, you'll get polite responses. 2. Damaged pool tiles have been repaired, pool is in great shape and re-opened Jan 30. The building is dated and in need of exterior paint, but again, it's still a great value. 3. Restaurant is open until 4pm, outdoor bar until 5:30-6pm depending on how many people are outside. We actually liked not having a loud outdoor bar open til late, It's much nicer chillin on your balcony with the ocean sounds. There are so many good places to eat around town, grab a taxi or a scooter and check them out. 4. We watched some good Youtube videos before we went that reviewed restaurants around town. That helped out big time. I highly recommend Casa Mission, and Diego's Tacos. Others that were very good are Casa Cuzimil (sports bar with great food), La Mission, and a little place called Acapulco City that is located within the Gastropark on 15A Avenida Sur. Ones we missed were Mr Taco and El Billy BBQ on Ave 65. 5. If you have more than one A/C unit in your room/suite and there's only one remote, it works for both. Hold it near the unit, it will control it. Saw a previous review where they had air blowing on them all night in bed. That happened to us the first night, but tried the remote from the kitchen on a whim, it worked. 6. I had no billing issues. You're in Mexico, they report Pesos, there are a ton of conversion apps. All your receipts are in Pesos and the signed originals are given to you at check-out. They billed me for what I signed for. 7. Resort fee of $13/day is collected at check-in. It covers the cost of fresh pool towels, and daily maintenance around the pool, deck, and resort. Everything is kept up nicely. 8. Half of the guests are timeshare owners who have been coming there for 20-30 years. Many know each other and have been friends for years. Make friends with one or two and you'll have 15 or 20 new friends. 9. Very few children, it's more of an older crowd 40 and up. 10. Bottled water in room is not free. We left a small tip for housekeeping everyday and had a bottle in kitchen, one in bathroom, and coffee and filters everyday. You should tip housekeeping anyway, this way you'll get water also. 11. If you have a room without a kitchen, it is most likely on the jungle side, non ocean view. You'll want coffee from the restaurant, the coffee maker is small, and there's little sugar and dry creamer. If you have a kitchen, go shopping at Mega or one of the other super markets and stock your food. Mega has everything, literally. 12. Hot water on the higher floors takes forever to reach you. Be patient, it will come. lol. Turn it on and do something else for a few minutes until it's hot. 13. We asked the check-in person if she could find us a scooter. She called someone up and got a scooter for about $28 for 24 hours. Cheaper than most around town and they brought it to us and picked it up. We drove the perimeter road around the island. Stopped at Rasta Bar and Coconuts. Totally worth the trip. 14. Pack ponchos, they take up little room and you may need them. We did. 15. Gym looked clean, saw someone working out one day. Old equipment. I'm on vacation, did not workout. 16. Pepe Scuba onsite is very convenient. They also sell hats and shirts. 17. Additional gift shop on lower level, prices are so so. 18. We stayed away from the port area, it's by far the most expensive, but you have to get the Marquesitas and churros there. Bottom line, it's not the nicest building, but the location and staff are great. Very good value. Remember that you're on vacation, take it slow, be nice, have a good time. …
My husband and I have been time share members for over ten years at the Coral Princess and we love it. They treat us like family. The hotel is close to town so you can walk or take a cab for 80 pesos. The snorkelling is the best part of the stay for us. The food is great and so is the service. The sunsets are amazing. The restaurant closes at 4pm but you can go to Hotel B restaurant next door or order a pizza delivered from town. The wifi was very reliable, never had any problems. The pool bar was open during the day and the Karaoke bar open at night. There is a small store that sells water, snacks and sundries for reasonable prices. There is a dive operator, Pepe scuba onsite. If you like low key and friendly this is the place to stay.
Traveling with a friend for a dive trip. Booked two separate king bedroom suites. The rooms are large and well appointed. The tv has CNN. The rooms faced the ocean and had a decent size balcony. The hotel service was spotty. We did not use the on site dive op. The bar and restaurant were closed a couple times during our stay when one would expect them open. I would stay here again.
I chose this place because I've driven by it for years when I've stayed in Cozumel and they offered a lower rate. BEWARE you get what you pay for!! Not only did I have to negotiate with the type of room I reserved in advance at the front desk because they told me I wasn't getting what I reserved, but they did nothing to make our bed more comfortable other than offer more pillows knowing we were going to be there 10 days. Make sure you wear your water shoes in their pool, I stepped on missing tile and SLICED the tip of my pinky toe off and they didn't even ask if I was ok or if I needed help! Naturally this stopped me from getting into the Ocean for a few days We stayed there while the Ironman race was going on and they communicated nothing to us about parking somewhere else so we could actually leave the hotel, we even asked the day before! Won't stay here again, lesson learned!…
Actually we have stayed at the Coral Princess a number of times over the years including with all of our children and grandchildren in 2008. I am writing this review because our plan to spend the month of February, 2023, had to be cancelled because of illness. We will probably never return so I wanted to let people know how much we have enjoyed this hotel. The staff has always been kind and helpful. The welcome we have always felt is one reason we have often returned. The Coral Princess is not for everyone. It is not a big all inclusive resort. But it has everything you could ask for. There are many delightful restaurants and shopping a short cab ride or moderate walk away. The reef right off the front of the hotel provides great snorkeling. If you are more adventurous the hotel provides snorkeling and diving tours for all the great reefs around Cozumel. We jhope you will enjoy the Coral Princess as much as we have over the years.…
As a member I've become more and more disappointed with Coral Princess corporate and management. The staff has always treated us like family and has continued to do so. When we were sold our members package amenities were offered as Happy hour buy one get one twice a day with a stocked pool bar too. A BBQ was offered every week, Restaurant open every day/night. The restaurant was a great feature when arriving after traveling all day we could have an amazing meal by a prepared chef. All these amenities are gone now. We've spent this past week at Coral Princess, it's been a bit cooler by the wind, which has made the pool unbearable to be in. To be told Coral Princess refuses to fix the heater is a HUGE disappointment. This has left several disgruntled patrons disgruntled by Coral Princess lack of care and concern of their guests. We are all guests whether we are members or hotel guests. …
A beautiful, older resort with amazing and attentive staff and the best snorkeling you’ll find in Cozumel. Views from the ocean side rooms are unparalleled. She’s showing her age some, but the staff and location more than make up for cosmetic flaws.
