I have had groups there many times. It is a solid value, good bang-for-the-buck. The rooms are ok, and the food and beverage offerings satisfy everyone. The staff is great. Cornelio and Sylvia are very good wait staff in the dining areas. And Keira Valdez is the best poolside waitress ever! She is so much fun and was very playful with everyone in my group. She kept us laughing all week long. Good job!
First visit to this resort, 6th to Cozumel, I'd do it here again. I had it narrowed down to three resorts and read many reviews. Location & snorkeling were my biggest wants. I knew this area and saw good snorkeling spot. It didn't disappoint. From other reviews I knew it was a dated resort. Man made elevated beach area. Some rooms had shower updates. They had two bottles of water for you. No washcloths, drawers that could fall out if pulled too far. And firm beds. So I planned and prepared for all that. Brought insulated water bottle, good on plane too fill after security point! There were several places to fill it from chilled water coolers. Also insulated cup great to keep other beverages cold longer, know cup is clean and holds more. I enjoyed the variety and quaintly of the meals. Hot enough mostly, no pizza or nuggets. No wait usually on omelets. I didn't pull far on drawers so never fell out. Took wash clothes. Didn't mind firm bed, would prefer thinner pillow. A/C on remote was perfect. No trouble getting room cool at night and back to 76'/day. Loved the beach area. Never crowded, lots to watch on ocean, many chairs and lounges (some with foam pad). Like 6 hammocks. Several palm trees. Beds to rent. Beach bar, Mario was great! Tip well. And wonderful easy entry into ocean for swim, snorkeling or scuba. Maybe not ideal for all, kids or beach walkers. Spent many hours every day down there snorkeling. Don't feel limited to small area, go beyond the ropes left towards yellow/black cargo pier. Or right a few properties down. BUT watch for incoming boats if you get away from the coral banks. Others were right about the staff being great! Kiera around the snack bar pool area was full of energy. Hard worker, loves her job (heard her say it). I told her I read good things about her. Louis in main restaurant was very good, as were others. Didn't enjoy eating in Grand Sol, auditorium, lacks charm and views. Hope place by ocean is done for future trips. Front desk was wonderful and helpful. When checking in asked if I had updated room, said no, but moved me up and over to 1120. Aka 2nd floor. Oh my young cleaning girl was great, kind, friendly and understanding. Kudos to her, name lost. I knew the hotel as orange/gold, that had more curb appeal to me. Needs some color out front on sign...blue waves by dolphins maybe? Also darker curtains would be nice. FYI deck lights go off at 10:17. Watch your head in shower area, towel rack feel like accident waiting to happen. I missed. Also beware of little curb near sink area! Blankets in closet top shelf, or inquirie. And lastly...if you are still reading lol. Walking to Mega or Chedau(?) about 10 min to right as you walk out front. Think Walmart! Good deals. Must wear mask yet there. Also at buffets! Sidewalks are fine, always watch for gaps, garbage etc. Taxi to ferry...$6US. To Chankanaab $9. Ferry to Playa $500 MX roundtrip. Tip well...and relax! Pool area wasn't too busy during spring break. To manager/etc: the feast by pool was nice but poorly organized. Nobody knew where to stand and wait. Beach feast was perfect! Needing to sit 1st wait to place snack order defeated snack bar! I get if due to food waste. Also saw man there use bare hands for buns and grabbing fries. Never saw or got map or info re grounds. Yes, it's way smaller than many in Rivera but nice to get info. Eating hours, bar hours. Water locations, ice from bars only.…
Just returned from another great vacation at Hotel Cozumel and Resort. This hotel is excellent for a scuba diving vacation. Rooms are a good size with a balcony setup for hanging dive gear. Always clean, safe, and quiet at bedtime. They have the largest pool in Cozumel for when you have some relaxation time. The staff remembers repeat customers so it feels like family. Food is fairly good with a number of specialty nights at the restaurant. The wait staff is phenomenal with a shout-out to Oscar, Cornelius, Christian, and Silvia. Prompt service, gracious, and friendly. Dive Paradise across the street and is always top notch as well.
We were taken care of like family at the pool by Keira! She worked hard every day and you should never lose her. Can't wait to see her next year! Louisa was also wonderful as was Captain Alberto. Thank you Hotel Cozumel!
We traveled with friends and we were there for 2 1/2 weeks. I'll start with the positives. The staff is amazing. Special shout out to Keira, one of the pool servers. She is such a great server, but also so funny! Always smiling and laughing. Another shout out to Daniel at the indoor bar. He is so nice, always smiling, and remembers what your preferred drinks are. Our check in was the quickest I've ever experienced. Our room was average, no frills. The air conditioning was easy to adjust. At breakfast, there was always a Bloody Mary, mimosa, and vodka oj bar. You can order not just omelets to order, but eggs as well. Every Wednesday, there is lunch on the beach that included fried whole Red Snapper. My husband LOVED them! Also had grilled chicken and pork. The best lunches by far. There was lasagna available on a couple of evening buffets that was really good. The rest of the food was just average. Drinks were average. If you wanted "the good stuff", you had to pay extra. Our shower had a drainage issue and we were in standing water. Even after reporting it, it wasn't fixed. This is the only resort I've stayed in that wasn't on the water. You had to cross the street or go through the tunnel to get to the water. There is a "fake" beach, meaning, the only way to get in the water was to climb down a ladder or off a short pier. The divers we talked to, love this resort as there's a dive shop attached. The resort is located pretty close to to the main downtown and easily walkable or inexpensive cab ride. What I disliked the most about this resort, or most disappointing are these two simple things: There aren't mini fridges in the rooms and there aren't ice machines anywhere on the resort. …
I love this place. This not a snooty 5 star hotel. The rooms are clean the pool is grand. What really sets this place apart from the others is the staff. From greeting by Russell, to check in with Raul, everything was seemless. The new breakfast cook Virgilio was accommodating, the pool service with Keira & Louisa was fantastic. Both are very quick energetic and bubbling with personality. Cannot forget to mention Daniel in the bar. Definitely great service all around. It sums up why we have been coming back here almost every year since 1998
Stayed in the handicap accessible room, which has not been updated as promised. Shower chair was old and ended up collapsing before the week was out. In October we had a toilet extender that locked into place and was fairly safe to use. This time they went back to the round one that doesn't fit the oval toilet that they have and so they taped a towel to the back hoping it would hold it in place and it really didn't work. They ran out of towels, pillows, and pool towels. Had one day where there was no hot water. When coming back from a drive trip, they had the band set up for restaurant viewing and blocking the access to the dock. When my husband tried to bring my wheelchair back to the dock, they were refusing to make a pathway so he could get there. Food was Buffet only unless you can get signed up for the specialty nights which they run, I believe, three a week. But you were supposed to sign up that day between 10 and noon so if you were a Diver you couldn't get signed up. Food was repetitive and not very good. Often came out lukewarm or cold. Hotel seems to be understaffed, and although the staff is very friendly, they are so overworked that you frequently get delays in orders, and or forgotten. …
This place is a solid 3-star hotel. I would give it higher if they would update the rooms and the property. If you know this a head of time, you wont be disappointed. It is a great hotel if you are into diving. We have stayed there many times over the past 2.5 years and keep going back for their staff! Louise, Kierra, Gustavo and Alexjandra keep the pool bar running smoothly and always manage to keep our drinks full. The restaurant staff are just as attentive...Miguel, Sylvia, Valentine, Evan and Cornelia always take amazing care us! We look forward to seeing the same faces every trip. The housekeeping really seemed to be understaffed this past time. Sometimes our rooms were not cleaned until almost 5 pm and somedays after 5! Not what you want to see when you come back to your room, after being gone all day! One day they maids said they had no more clean towels after our room was cleaned , so we had to go to the front desk to get clean towels! Also, if you use wash clothes, they do not supply them so make sure and bring your own. They have also cut down on the toiletries provided. On all previous stays, we would get shampoo, conditioner, lotion and soap. Now, only shampoo and soap are provided. There seem to be many activities to do but they never post what is happening and when. We never knew when the "specialty" dinners were happening, which also require a reservation. This hotel is also close to downtown, so you can walk into town from this property.…
My husband and I stayed at Cozumel Hotel and resort Feb 1-14, 2023. It was our 5th time at this resort and we enjoyed it more than ever. We continue to go back for their all-inclusive stays because it is a good value for the price, we like the location (walkable to downtown) and the staff is fantastic! Abril kept our room very clean and delighted us with her fancy towel creations. Daniel and Laura, the morning security team, greeted us each morning and helped us learn some Spanish words and phrases that made us feel at home. We had a blast getting to know the entertainment staff, Alonso, Iyali, Juana, Gabriel, Josue and Emily - they are super friendly and talented dancers! A positive change since our last visit there are sit-down dinners you can several nights a week as part of the all-inclusive. I have read some of the negative reviews. If you are polite and friendly with the staff, they will bend over backward to help in any way. There are staff shortages even in Mexico, and everyone there is working very hard. The hotel is not new, and slowly being refurbished. We have always had clean rooms. Our room had new beds this time. In general, the food is good enough, not fantastic, although the breakfast omelettes are excellent! The shoreline here, like much of Cozumel, is not sand, but a limestone "ledge." They have a good entryway built, and the snorkeling along shore there is great - part of the reason we go back. A highlight this time was the Wednesday beach party -- great food and live music right on the shore. We are planning to go back next year! …
We stayed here for 7 days, as a couple. I have been to Cozumel several times, this was my husband's first trip. For this reason, we opted for the all inclusive package, but I did not want a resort too far from town, as I enjoy being able to walk into town daily. We chose this resort specifically for it's location, it is vary safe 10 minute walk into town. The resort itself also offered all the amenities we required for a week's stay. The pool was large, clean and well maintained. Plenty of seating available at all times. The rooms were plain and lack lustre, but we knew that coming in. All we needed was a clean room/bathroom and a bed to call it a night after our long days in the sun. This is exactly what we got. The buffets were accessible and we both were able to find something to eat. It will sustain you for your trip, but it will not be anything to write home about. The private beach are across the road was clean, quiet and offered a bar on site. It is a beautiful area, and you wouldn't even realize you're not a true waterfront resort. It's very accessible and private. If you are looking to book an all inclusive trip and plan on spending 7 days at the resort to eat, drink and lounge. This may not be the resort for you. I would suggest a true all inclusive resort what is beachfront and not located in town. If you are like us, and wanted to come to Cozumel to enjoy the town and local restaurants and amenities, this is the spot to call home. We took advantage of breakfast here, then we would walk into town for iced coffee's and shopping or touring. We would head into town once a day whether it for lunch or dinner. We utilized the hotel as a place to keep our things and eat a few meals and cool off in the pool or ocean. It's a shame to see this resort get poor reviews, they have done a great job in my opinion. You just have to understand what Cozumel is. If you want to drink, eat and party all day I really do suggest looking elsewhere so you are not disappointed. …
