This is a great home base for divers. The rooms are simple, but have all of the basics and the housekeeping keeps them super clean. The pool and grounds are clean and well maintained. All of the staff are so friendly and provide excellent service!!! Especially, Javier - he was so much fun and provided the best service with an awesome attitude!!! My only critique of the restaurant was that the food was just very average. The prices are good though so that’s good.
PROs: Across the street from the ocean and a great shore diving spot. Beautifully landscaped grounds, nice pool, beach club, and open-air restaurant with swim-up bar. Traditional Mexican hotel layout with open courtyards and lanais that have nice views of garden and/or ocean. Peaceful vibe. CONs: Most of the restaurants in the area are overpriced Senor Frog/Hooters-type establishments catering to the drink-and-dive crowd. Restaurants in the north of town and just off Centro are much better quality and value, but require a cab into town. Buffet breakfast was carb-heavy steam table fare which was overpriced at more than $15/person. Restaurants in the US would offer this for free. Front desk staff was not particularly friendly or helpful. When my husband lost his bag in the lobby and they did not find it in lost and found, they did not check for it behind the desk until we asked a second time and they magically "found" it. A little effort and thought here would have made a difference to us. The beach club is nice but the swimming was much too rough for me (located between two piers and the road, with mostly a view of the cruise ships in front). Net: great place to drink margaritas and dive …
Casa Del Mar is a quaint small hotel. Nice rooms, great peaceful atmosphere. We went with a diving group. This all inclusive resort has good food…… good drinks…. And the BEST STAFF. Definitely will be going back. Only drawback is not a short walk to town…. But taxis are CHEAP.
We love Casa Del Mar! It is a clean, inviting, friendly atmosphere that feels like home to us. We actually don't dive but love the beach. We rent a car from the front desk and go to the "wild side" of the island and sit on the beach or go to Nachi Cocom and sit on the beach there. We also really love the food at the Palapa restaurant. They have a great chef. We love it!
I love staying at Casa Del Mar when I’m in Cozumel! It’s a really quaint little dive hotel with a pool, swim up bar, a restaurant with the most amazing tortilla soup, and a hot tub. The rooms are fairly simple - all you could want for a dive getaway! Staff is super friendly and the place is clean. I’ve stayed in this hotel with my family on vacations since I was a kid, and I love that it’s exactly the same every time I go back :)
I had a disappointing stay at Casa del Mar on my last visit. I have been staying at this “resort” yearly for nearly twenty years. I am an avid scuba diver and in the past, all divers were given a warm welcome and treated like family. It didn’t matter if you were with a large group, solo or with a small group of friends. It also didn’t matter what dive op you were diving with. Now things are much different. We were not part of a larger group and were diving with an off-site operator and were treated like second class citizens. We were lied to about room availability, restaurant staff watched us like hawks; I’m guessing because they thought we were giving away food/beverages to friends that had joined us for dinner which was never the case. Although our hotel stay was paid for in advance, midway through our vacation, it was decided that the treatment was unbearable and we decided to move to another hotel. The evening we left, we were chased down by hotel staff demanding that we give them our keys and telling us that we would not be allowed to leave. We refused and told them we would return in the morning to check out which we did and were provided no refund or credit for the remaining three days. At this point it didn’t matter, the damage was done and I can say with certainty I will never stay at or recommend friends or family stay at this hotel as long as it is under the current management. This is such a shame as there are wonderful people who work at Casa del Mar and have for years.…
Amazing place to stay. Clean, comfortable, amazing staff. Great restaurant and pool side bar. Walk bridge to ocean which has great snorkeling and swimming Amazing!! Will stay there again!! Minutes from marina to go diving.
This resort was recommended by our local dive instructors as they stay here when they come to COZ. It was great for us. Not overly fancy but certainly clean and enjoyable. We did not have issues with AC, internet or hot water as I did see on some posts. I do like to hang my clothes so was glad that I took extra hangers. There were 3 pegs on the patio area to hang wet dive stuff outside. There were a few couples that set their items out on empty pool chairs to dry in the sun after returning from morning dives. We did the AI and it was a positive for us. I tend to drink large volumes of beverages (water, tea, diet soda, and adult ones at times). The dining menu was a bit limited but we found our favorites for sure --- don't miss the ceviche or the cheesecake w/coconut ice cream!!…
This was my first time there. My partner has been there before. He surprised me by renting a cabana for us. I was very surprised by how nice it was. downstairs bedroom, upstairs living space. I took a point off, because I was surprised that even though it had a 2 burner stove, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, it came with no pots or pans to use. No dishware, no silverware. Nothing. We had to go to Oxxo to get coffee, plastic silverware, plastic plates, bowls, etc. It was nice though not to have to go out to breakfast everyday and could just have toast and jam in the unit. The resort itself was amazing, nice clean pool with a swim up bar. A hot tub, although you had to ask someone to turn it on. They just didn't leave it on all the time. The resort was really pretty. Inside it had a ping pong table and a pool table and a little library. The restaurant had really good food. Although we only ate there once as there were so many other places around to eat. There are two beach clubs across the street. There is a bridge that you can walk over to get from the resort to the beach clubs. One beach club has a restaurant/bar. You can order a drink and sit down in the relaxing pool. But this pool isn't really a swimming pool, its more of a sit down pool. The other beach club doesn't have food service. The beach itself is quite small. The water has a pile of rocks in it. But I see now from the pictures of the water, if you walk along the wall, you can get around them without having to swim over them. The current in the water was pretty strong when we were there. But we saw a ton of fish. I would come back .…
I recently visited Casa del Mar with my dive club. It was my second visit to the resort and it was excellent both times. The rooms are not fancy but nice enough. My AC worked really well both times, which is about all I care about. The restaurant is really good. I love the pool bar where you can sit in the pool IN THE SHADE and have a drink or lunch or whatever. Just lovely. The dive operations is also top notch. That is why my dive club has been coming to this resort for over 20 years. We are always well treated at the resort and at the dive shop so we come back year after year.
