The hotel is a short taxi drive from the pier. In general, the hotel is well-maintained with friendly staff. The bellboy taught us some interesting Mayan words. As IHG Platinum Elite member, our request for upgrade was not granted (they offered USD200 for upgrade instead) but they allowed us to check in at 11 am on a weekday stay. Fortunately there was no smelly seaweed during our stay (May 2022). Our elderly parents enjoyed the snorkel area very much without being afraid of the current. We had fresh whole fish for dinner at the restaurant, Caribeno. At check out, we noticed in the bill that the breakfast buffet cost more than what we spent at dinner. So make sure your room rate includes breakfast.
We stayed here in Feb 2021. Our room was impressive. Our view of the ocean was breathtaking. Our room had a big tub that easily holds two people. Our bed was comfy and everything was immaculate. They took care of our COVID testing, and it only took about 5 minutes to have the test done on site. The Scuba Du dive shop is on site and does an amazing job. The restaurants are delicious and convenient. We used the hotels bikes to explore the city on a couple of days. We did 7 dive excursions. Best diving in the world. Great romantic getaway. Well priced. Great servicve.
In booking our first post covid vacation in almost 3 years we put great choice into what our experience would look like. Staying in a beautiful location, w/new fresh rooms on the beach w/choices of what we would have on property. This property completely exceeded my expectations. Every individual at the front desks, valet, housekeeping, restaurants, concierge and whatever I must be forgetting were helpful, kind, competent and together they delivered a week where I could not have asked for more!
This place was spectacular!! The views and beach were remarkable. The food wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t very good. Make sure to find what you like at the beginning of your stay and stick to that for the remainder. The star friends and staff are so friendly and the whole atmosphere is so welcoming. Lenar and Alejandra are the best star friends ever!!! And Salvador is the best excursion planner. The last thing to point out is how outstanding the snorkeling and scuba diving is!! I would definitely go back.
This was our third time staying here, so that says a lot right there. It’s a beautiful hotel in a beautiful location which balances a high class feel with casual beachy vibes. We love how the water here is always crystal clear, and never seems to suffer the plague of sargassum seaweed like the mainland riviera maya does. There’s always plenty of chairs at the beach or pool areas. El Carribeno and LE Cap offer great views and great food. These places are somewhat pricey but not terrible all things considered. I like how Le Cap offers service to your chair by the beach or pool. No need to get up. Love it. We also ate at the Italian restaurant which requires reservations. It was quite good and wasn’t terribly expensive, all considered. Service was excellent. Rooms are nice and spacious. As platinum members of IHG, we received an excellent upgrade to a beachfront room with an outdoor shower. We loved it. They also sent us some complimentary chocolate covered strawberries as we were celebrating our anniversary. What a nice surprise! Service here is very friendly. Only thing I would say is if you have IhG status or Ambassador status or are celebrating a special occasion, avoid checking in with Karina at the front desk. She doesn’t recognize status or may just be new. I learned this because I actually had to extend my stay due to an airline cancellation. A kind gentleman who we checked in with upgraded us on arrival, but when I extended our stay Karina tried to stick us in the base level room for one night. Fortunately my wife was able to speak with one of her coworkers upon subsequently inquiring about whether our room was ready) and we received a nice upgraded ocean front room, which was greatly appreciated. All told, we find this to be a great place to relax for a few days. Snorkeling is quite good up and down the coastline near the hotel. I definitely see us coming back again. As some noted, it’s not a new hotel and some ragged edges are visible, but overall the hotel delivers a classy and relaxing experience. We particularly appreciated the hot tub which is actually hot!…
The El Presidente has been our Resort hotel of choice for the past 22 years. Not having been back for the last 2 years because of COVID, not much has changed, still maintaining the excellent service, the upkeep and cleanliness of the grounds and all public areas. Employees that have been there for a while all recognize us with warm greeting. Our favorite room (very centrally located) that we request year after year 5109 still in great condition. All employees of the hotel have mask requirements. All room amenities all individual wrapped. Housekeeping service is upon request with a specific time and you must me out of the room when they clean. We requested everyday at 12:00. The gym that I used on the days I was not diving was clean, plenty of wipes, spray cleaner, individually wrap workout towels, waters and masks if you wanted. The pool area seating was very spread out, social distancing. The hotel took away a lot of seating, but strangely we always got seating for our group of 3. To note: we normally come in August this is the first time in May and it is much nicer if you are not interested in haven a ton of little kids around (which was always my concern). In addition, if you stay a certain amount of days, the hotel will provide upon appointment only, 2 COVID test per room free of charge to get back to the States. Still the best hotel on the island!…
We had a first floor, luxury ocean front room (5107) and it was amazing. The ocean and beach access were great; there were plenty of high quality beach loungers and palapas (shade); there were 2 protected areas (by buoys) for snorkeling/diving at the resort; 4 restaurants that each offered outdoor dining and amazing views (especially at sunset); sophisticated evening entertainment (guitar player and singers); and super friendly staff. There were no bugs, plenty of hot water, plenty of bottled water to drink, and great service at the restaurants. The spa (Swedish massage) was great. No loud bars or bands playing into the night. A very relaxing vacation resort!
We loved the resort. Loved the outdoor shower and used it a lot during our stay. The staff are so courteous. I liked the surroundings and the eco-friendly toiletries and shampoos in the room. I also liked their suite with a view that is 'to-die-for' lovely! Recommendations for improvement: (1) For risk management - the floor of the indoor shower is very slippery. An anti-skid mat or handle bar may be helpful in preventing accidents. A friend of mine actually slipped in the indoor bathroom during this stay and sustained a bruise. Thankfully, nothing broken. (2) Better scheduling communications - Not sure where the problem lies but, there were 3 instances where our reservations were either mixed up or non-existent. Here are the 3 incidents of missed or mixed communications. In none of these 3 incidents did we have any problem getting seated or had to be re-scheduled. Therefore, minor issue but still needs to be improved. - We made our appointment for CoVid test for 3 pm the day prior to departure. Somehow, we were scheduled for 11 am when we arrived for our testing. No problem though, we were accommodated at 3 pm anyway. - We made reservations at the Faro Blanco and at the Trattoria restaurants for dinner on 2 separate occasions. The concierge told us that our reservations' confirmed. Our names were not on the guest list when we showed up at the appointed time. Again, no problem. We were seated and served dinner. - Restaurant menu: both the restaurants above are on QR code menu, so one needs to bring a cellphone or iPad to dinner. We don't do that as a habit. Again, no problem, they accommodated us by bringing up their menu on an iPad and brought it to our table. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay. I also want to commend Victor, who rinsed my dive gears after each trip. He did a very good job. He took good care of my dive equipments and got them really dry in time for departure packing. Muchas gracias!…
Overall our stay at Presidente Cozumel was a positive one. However it started out on a not so great note. When we checked in, the room we had booked months in advance wasn’t available. We were told to go relax and come back a little later to check in. When we came back they sent us to our room and when I walked in, I discovered our ocean front King was actually 2 beds. Returning to the front desk they told us our room we booked wasn’t guaranteed because I booked through Costco. I showed them our Costco documentation as well as the fact that I paid the exact same rate as the listed room rate. Then they backtracked and said my room would be available in two days. When I told them that was unacceptable and there were other rooms in a higher category they could place us in, we were told that we’d have to pay a difference in rate which I of course declined. After much back and forth the manager said in one day they could move us to a slightly higher room category for no charge (even though there were still other rooms available two categories higher). We were also offered a bottle of tequila (which we never received) for the inconvenience. I was sick of arguing so I accepted. The upgraded room was an oceanfront with outdoor shower and was overall in much better condition as well. Our first room was showing signs of wear and dirt that the upgraded room didn’t have. Both rooms smelled a bit like mildew probably from flood water over the course of time but it didn’t bother me (our friends on the 2nd floor didn’t have that problem). The resort itself is great although once again, signs of wear. They were constantly working on it so I believe they are trying to keep everything well-maintained but it isn’t quite up to par. Hopefully they can fix that. The huge pluses for me were the people. The staff was incredibly accommodating, always eager to help. The spa was wonderful for the exact same reason. The food was good although for the price, I’d say you could do better throughout the island. Breakfast was excellent. In the end I don’t know if I’ll have reason to return to Cozumel but if I did, I would definitely stay at Presidente again, we just got off to a rough start.…
We have stayed here 4 times and wouldn’t stay anywhere else. Beautiful rooms and grounds and wonderful staff. They are always helpful and easy to work with. Very secure and beautiful clean ( read seaweed free) private beach.
