Absolutely fabulous Hotel in a fantastic location we had a wonderful stay here. The Staff could not do enough for you nothing was to much trouble, waking up in a morning to the gorgeous sea view, we would definitely go back. The food was excellent plenty of choice, you definitely would not go hungry and it was always fresh and hot. The Asian specialty restaurant was fabulous the food was excellent, The steak restaurant was nice as you could look out over the sea as you were dining, The Mexican Restaurant was okay I am sure if you like that kind of food it was good my personal choice. The Bedrooms were clean and very fresh looking and was cleaned everyday there was everything you needed in there Towels, soap shampoo hairdryer, the bed was massive and very comfy we had a minbar with excellent choice and optics and a ice machine 2 doors away. The entertainment was good and entertaining, the lobby bar was lovely with the saxophone player in the evening, this Hotel has something for everyone. The surroundings and the Staff made this a fantastic holiday for us.

Hotel's Favorite
Riu Caribe exceeded my expectations. I was worried because of the negative reviews but after my visit I disagree with those. To start, the staff is incredible everywhere in the hotel. The property is beautifully kept, and Covid rules are frequently reinforced throughout the hotel. Entertainment was fantastic. Great location (pharmacy/liquor store/gift shop) right next door. Bonus* there’s ramps everywhere in the hotel for those that have wheelchairs! The room: yes indeed they’re outdated, the beds are a bit uncomfortable but very clean. AC works perfectly fine the fan is amazing, housekeeping is back to cleaning everyday, mini bar is stocked daily and the liquor dispenser is back (Yay!!) The pool: very clean, swim up bar is opened again with some restrictions but there is service. The pool side service is a bit slow but nothing too crazy. I do think though that the music by the pool can be a bit more upbeat. The beach: FANTASTIC!! We visited from 8/31-9/4 and there was 0 seaweed. No waves, clear warm water, excellent service when ordering drinks. The food and drinks: DELICIOUS! there’s a big variety from breakfast to dinner and snacks. Warm, tasty and great service. Of course don’t go to a Riu expecting Hyatt or Four Seasons food (sports bar sandwiches were the best). Drinks were all delicious, cold beers, cold champagne and they’re main tequila is Don Julio blanco, reposado and Herradura (yay!!) COVID: we were given a link at check in that we filled out and requested an appt. 24hrs later we received our appt confirmation and time. Upon our arrival for our test our passports were taken, test were done we waited in the sitting area and got our results within 15 minutes via email. another 10 minutes and we received our passports and printed results. Super easy and quick!! (Yay again!!) Thank you: Amelia and Carlo front desk, Joshua, Jose Buffett restaurant. Vicente sports bar, William and Oscar entertainment, Jorge housekeeping (9th floor)

Went for 7 days over New Years. I’m fortunate enough to vacation to various all-inclusive hotels and this property is the worst I have been too. I’ve seen resorts handle the Covid downtime by either utilizing the staff to do repairs and updates or take a minimal approach. This resort has done the latter. My opinion is the hotel is currently suffering from a lack of staff. This caused our entire stay to suffer. Only 50% of the restaurants would be open (if you weren’t in line by 6:30 you weren’t getting in), no room service, pool amenities and the daily activities that RUI is known for were sparse. The trickle down was felt at every point. In addition, the quality of the food was FAR below other RUI resorts that I have stayed at. My guess is that the microwave was their main cooking option. I could go on, but it’s easy to see how your vacation would suffer when the resort is understaffed. The one pro; beautiful location and view. For the time being, I would look at another resort until RUI Caribe recovers from its Covid hangover.

Our party of 7 were there Dec 30-Jan 5. The rooms were clean and spacious. The view was amazing. The beach was beautiful and always found seating. Pool was great as well and usually found chairs for all of us. Food was ok. The buffet seemed to serve the same things every day for breakfast and dinner. It was ok, not great. The Asian restaurant was ok. Mexican restaurant was good. The staff was great and always willing to help and answer questions when needed. Always very prompt with service and extremely polite. Our room was cleaned and stocked as we requested. The day before leaving we tested for COVID and 3 out of the 7 of us were positive. We were moved to a room on the first floor in the covid section. It was bumpy at first and difficult to get food, direction as to what happens next etc. My husband speaks fluent Spanish and that was a life saver. Once we figured out the system and how to do things, our 6 day quarentine was seemless. We received breakfast lunch and dinner, and always got what we requested or a similar substitute. Alexis that brought us our dinner was great. We always looked forward to his delivery. The Dr at the resort was SO helpful and was able to write us a clearance letter once we met CDC guidelines for quarentine and flying regulations. Overall the COVID positive process was handled well and we were comfortable with how is happened. We decided we like our food in quarentine better than the buffet!! Overall we chose this resort for the beach and it did not disappoint. It was fine for the price, but I think we would choose a different RIU in Cancun when we return.

We were upgraded to the Presidential Suite for our wedding anniversary. It was an amazing room up above the 9th floor. The beach and the pool were the main reason that we chose this resort and they did not disappoint. The food and drinks were fine. I would come back here for sure.

Room Tip: Tip the guys at the restaurants to avoid waiting for a table. $5 goes a long way.
