City Express Rosarito is located in the newest area of the vibrant city in the state of Baja California. The Reforma neighborhood, in the north side of Rosarito, is surrounded by sites that could be of interest to both the business and pleasure travelers. Baja California Center, the main convention center in town, is only five minutes away through the Tijuana-Ensenada scenic highway. Same distance but in the other direction is Eduardo Crosthwhite Industrial Park, which gathers the factories of the region. Through the scenic highway you can get very quickly to El Coronel Hill, a natural attraction only 12 miles from downtown Rosarito. If you prefer the beach, City Express Rosarito is less than a mile away from the coast. Also, the hotel is right beside Pabellón Rosarito, the largest mall in the city.

This past weekend my daughter and I stayed at the new City Express hotel in Rosarito Beach. It is the brand new hotel that just opened in the entrance of town. We stayed in a double bed suite for one night. Here are my notes on the hotel:
Pros:
- Hotel is very clean and modern. It reminded me of a Holiday Inn Express or Days Inn type of layout. The rooms are not too big but everything is clean, new and modern. I would rate it a 3.5 Stars (no half ratings available).
- Bathroom was clean, very eco-friendly and A/C worked great.
- The staff was very friendly and accommodating
- They have a nice lounge area for guests with complimentary brunch in the morning (standard continental).
- Like many U.S. hotels now you need the guest key for the elevator to work which was nice to see.
- It is located next to a Walmart, Applebee’s, and an outdoor plaza that had restaurants, movie theatre and some shops
- They offer late check-out to 1:00pm

Cons:
- There is no refrigerator in the rooms (at least none in ours)
- The hotel is located in the entrance of town so if you want to be by the bars and restaurants you do need a cab or to drive (only a 5 min drive)
- Pool is small so not much for lounging.
- Although very nice the staff is still getting used to check-in and operations. They took over 30 minutes to check in some guests that had been waiting for a while, and this was past the 3:00pm check in time.

You can’t beat the great price under $80 a night and if the prices stay competitive like this and the hotel remains clean and up to standards I will be staying again. With the other options of choosing between overpriced hotels like Rosarito Beach Hotel and other poorly maintained hotels, this is a great new option for Rosarito Beach.

My husband & 2 kids stayed here for 2 nights. It is clean but only 2 towels per room. We had to go downstairs 4 more. Food is just a little better than continental and they kept running out of it. Staff is polite but not friendly. Super thin walls, you can hear everything that happens in the restroom!

Location is nice; its a a new shopping center with stores and restaurants near by; very safe location. But, customer service is very bad. Upon arrival at 3pm on a Saturday, we saw the the lobby was full of people. Walked up to counter and was told to write my name down on a list they had going; it was 3 pages long; this was the list for checking in. There two checking stations available but only one person checking in people. We asked for the manager and was told yes she is here but she is in her office next door. I went to the office and knocked on door; no one would answer. I could hear she was in there. We did not get checked in until 5:45pm! 2 hrs and 4 5 minutes to check in. Fairly new hotel. Room was nice; AC worked fine, CATV and WiFi worked fine. Shower water just room temperature or warm in some instances. Continental breakfast included but we opted not to eat here. Plenty of parking with security on site.

Stayed at City Express on 22710 Baja California son Rosarito. Arrived in our room and 1) There were no large or small hand towels 2) No TV remote control 3) No blankets, just bed sheets for covering up. 4) Shampoo is cheap, you have to use it twice on your hair to get it to go soapy. 5) Water almost ran out, only a few drips was available to wash your hands or showered. 6) Breakfast was mediocre: scrambled eggs, chips with refuted beans and sour cream; corn flakes, a cookie, orange juice, milk, and coffee; no pancakes, no bacon, who eats chips/nachos for breakfast? We had to call reception to bring us towels. When we went in person to complain about why there weren’t any blankets, all they did was apologize and said they would bring them, but never brought them, until we went back a second time to complain about no blankets. The water issue, the receptionist at the counter didn’t know what was going on. Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere!

The hotel appearance in public areas are nice, but it turns into the house of HORRORS after you reach the room. No towels, dirty sheets (see below) and dirty walls. Go elsewhere. A matter of fact skip Rosarita all together

We had Just stayed in December and we had a great experience. We re-booked to stay on January 12th and let me tell you what a disaster! I will never book again! We arrived at 3:10pm and there where 3 bus's full of people. We left to eat and wait for the line to go down. We returned at 6pm. We stood in line for 15 minuets to be told I DID NOT have a reservation! I gave the front desk agent my confirmation number and showed her my confirmation Email from the City Express Website. She said there was absolutely nothing they could do. I was not in the system. She refreshed me to the manager that was hiding in the back the entire time! WE waited for 20 Minuets and the Manager Never came out of the back room. We ended up just leaving because we could tell they had no clue of what to do and they have ZERO training! I Will Not be returning and I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT to anyone. We ended up being forced to stay in hole in the wall motel down the street.

So it's 4th of July weekend and we are doing our yearly family trip over the border. There are about 20 of us together and we book in advance to make sure we have our bases covered! We arrived at the hotel and begin the check in process and that's where everything goes downhill! We are told that there is no reservation under our names and the receptionists are trying to figure out what's going on... we are patient and are trying to see what's going on.. as soon as the receptionist gets in touch with the help desk she mentions they don't have any rooms available and then walks to the back! When she comes back out we are told our reservation was never received and we can't stay there... we ask to speak to the manager and then we call trip advisor! It was such a mess being on the phone for 1.5 hours and no one really helping us or accommodating us! There are five families here waiting to get the rooms we booked and didn't get them because someone didn't do their job and overbooked the hotel! In the end it was such a bad experience. The hotel was not willing to work with us so obviously we will never stay here! Finally, it took some time to get our refund back! We ended up staying at the Rosario Beach hotel in the junior penthouse! Best thing ever!

The front desk service was horrible! The lady who “helped” with my check in was Melissa. She was so rude I was shocked. Her bad service was not only towards me but also the people who were in front of me! Never coming back.

My husband and I did a quick over night to Rosaritos and needed a one night stay. The pictures on their website looked good so I decided to book it. Got in pretty late, around 10:30 p.m., and the receptionist came over and was not overly thrilled to be doing her job. We checked in and got up to our room, which was the last one at the end of a hallway. The room looked functional and clean so we were pleasantly surprised. Then it went downhill from there. As other people checked in or came in for the night, the noise level became intolerable. You hear the roll of people's carry on as they come down the hallway and their conversations. The walls were paper thin. You hear the shower and toilet of the other room. After a few flushes in our own bathroom, the toilet made this screeching noise for quite awhile. Even though the hotel claim to have double pane windows to cut down the noise level, you hear the traffic and alarms of cars throughout the night. Early next morning the scream of kids and arguments woke us up way before our alarm did. If you want sleep this is not the place for you!

I reserved this room about a week in advance. We arrived after traveling at about 4:30 pm and ready to settle in to our room. We go to check in and the attendant tells us he can't honor our reservation because they are sold out for the night. I said I have a reservation. He didn’t care or have any sympathy. We are now stuck in Rosarito Mexico with no room and it's now dark. They probably got a better rate and bumped us. So now after traveling all day we had to drive back to San Diego on Saturday night and it took us 5 hours to cross the border. We had to get an expensive last minute room in San Diego and cancel the rest of our trip. Please do not book a room here. You might get stranded like we did.
