Located at the southern part of Cebu specifically at the municipality of Dalaguete in Barangay Coro, guests of Dakong Bato Beach and Leisure Resort are assured of no problem finding it as this has been used as a marker to signify entry into the said municipality. "Dakong Bato" translates to Big Rock in the English language. Once you will see the landmark just before you enter the resort's gate, you will instantly understand why such the name... For it literally is what it means. Dakong Bato and Leisure Resort offers fully-air conditioned rooms each with its own private bathroom, equipped with TV and DVD. Rooms can accommodate 2-10 people depending upon its size, whether for couples, families or barkadas. There are specially-designed rooms for workshops and teambuildings as well. Always out to give the best, quality service, this beach and leisure resort comes with free WiFi access to its guests and visitors. Cottages are available for guests who want to spend the day cooling themselves at the beach or taking a dip at its child-friendly spring water pool. The latter, by the way, comes with a slide and a jacuzzi that's perfect for instant relaxation via massage with warm waters. Manicured lawns adorn the whole resort resulting into a lot of nature green color meant to soothe and calm one's soul. For guests on their teambuilding, an array of activities await in line: For the sports buff, the basketball court and water volleyball at the pool are sure to give you good sweating and exercise. For the more adventurous spirit, there are rubber kayaks and dingy boats for rent and a cave adventure adds a cool twist to the otherwise laid-back atmosphere. Apart from this though, what also makes Dakong Bato Beach and Leisure Resort famous is its association to the Visayan folkore which tells the story of "Maria Cacao", the half immortal who made the huge stone the docking place of her golden ship which carried the cacao she sold to Manila and outside countries. Such is the reason why it is said that even if it has been many centuries already, the marker is said to be "immovable" and still literally growing.

We went there to take a short break . The place were nice and it was affordable. The rooms were air conditioned and the place was quite and relaxing. Recommended for economical team building. Will surely comeback.

Upon arriving in the place, the security guard as well as the staff welcomed us warmly and escorted us to our room.I love the view and the Beach is clean, however, I think the swimming pool is not that clean. It seems to have mixed with saltwater or the water in it is saltwater, but that's okay. The room is really clean and nice. What disappointed me most is the service at the restaurant. When we went there for our dinner, there was this board where they write their menu of the day. It all consists of seafoods. We love to eat our meal with meat so we asked for the menu. The staff replied, ."mao ra man na" with a frown. Since we are already hungry from the exhausting trip from the city, we settled for the "kamayan". Another guests came in as we waited for our food to be served. I was surprised when the menu was handed to them. We were not dressed luxurously at that moment so I think it has something to do with the dress code. I feel humiliated because the food was served first on the guest which came after us. Also, when our food was served, the food stated on the menu were not followed. The calamari was replaced by a fried meat, which is hard as rock. I asked the cook what happened to the calamari, he just shrugged and said we ran out of stock so he replaced it with meat. I am totally disappointed because the other guest is eating some calamari. My advise, if you want to enjoy the place with a very good mood, don't go to the restaurant, or wear super flashy clothes so that you will not be humiliated. I think the service will also be better with room service or bring some food with you. Better pay extra than feel small.

The rooms are okay, quite expensive. There is nothing much to do here because the beach isn't that nice (do not expect white sand with long shorelines), and the pool is murky. This property sits on a cliff, so be prepared to walk up and down the concrete stairs. The food is great though, but a little expensive which is "normal" for resorts like this.

Warning

Went there February 23rd 2023 to check while staying in Dumaguete.
The neighbour confirmed me this hotel is closed for more than 2 years due to COVID pandemic.
Be careful because Dakong Bato still accept bookings from hotel booking web sites even being closed .

Stayed here and paid through the roof for a room to discover it's not as beautiful inside the room however the balcony had great sea-view. Terrible shower- the power not strong enough, dirty bathroom edge and tiles YUK!!

We checked in late at night and restaurant was close whilst I'm not fully aware about it. The next day we went to the Cafe Bar asked for English breakfast tea, the waiter completely ignore me and hardly said anything apart they don't have it.. Poor customer service and arrogant!! I avoid the cafe for my entire stay. However, a lady in the restaurant was very helpful and polite.

I have family and friends come for a quick visit however after 15mins they will charged me for having a guest in the resort even though they are not using the facilities even the children! Ridiculous..... Ripped off!
I've stayed 3 to 5 star hotel in UK, some places in Europe, Asia and Dubai not been charge if I have a guest came for a quick visit or joining me for lunch/dinner!! Stay away!! The worst place I ever stay in my entire holiday.

The good things first: the sunrise view is great, the beer is cold, and the pool is okay - but that's about it. When we asked for a sundowner, staff didn't know what it is. We explained that we might like a cocktail or so, and we were offered low class local rum. An extra towel for the pool costs 50 Pesos which is really ambitious in such a place since the room is already overpriced. The restaurant doesn't deserve that name, and in the morning it's impossible to get a coffee (the so-called coffee shop is well hidden and closed). When we checked out we had to wait for half an hour until we were 'allowed' to pay. They also happily overcharged us. When complaining they charged the right amount without hesitation, but overcharging is obviously their strategy. Fortunately their are lots of beautiful places in Cebu. So Dakong Bato can easyly be avoided.

Safety should be your main priority. The tiles surrounding the pool are very slippery and are not fit for use in wet areas/pools. We have been told that there have been a few accidents/mishaps there but the management has yet to fix this. Not sure what's taking so long to rectify this.

During our stay, my cousin almost fell down but managed to maintain her balance. My 71-year-old mother-in-law <MIL> on the other hand, was not very fortunate. While she was very careful, having witnessed my cousin's near fall minutes earlier, she still fell down as the floor was just too slippery. She fell on her bum and hit her head. The lifeguard on duty did not even bother to assist us. He was just seated at one side fiddling with his phone. He did help to report what happened to us to the management (only after my mom spoke to him). I cannot blame him though as he probably was scared and lacked proper training to address such situations.

Customers should know their rights too. Just because you fell down while on a holiday doesn't mean it is an 'accident' and is no one's fault. Such accidents, caused by unsafe facilities, can also be considered as negligence on the resort management's part. It is their responsibility to ensure that their resort remains safe for public use. If such negligence causes harm to others, then better check how you/your family should be protected.

For now, we have brought my MIL to the doctor for follow-up checks. She's been advised to go for xrays and medical exam. We are also separately working on the next steps for our protection.

Nice location, the beach is just okay, near shore is too shallow while afar shore is too deep, no white sands though, any seaweeds and grasses at shallow water - very itchy.. Hotel ambiance is nice, big cottages, only Php100 for day use until 6pm while Php120 for night use 6pm onwards.. Rooms comes with low cost rates too.. The resort is wide, have two swimming pools, we preferred the one without a slide, less people, pool id only 5ft deep.. Karaoke was also in the resort.. They also have restaurant but havent tried their food yet coz we only stayed there for 2hours before heading back to the city.

The only bad thing is that, their wifi is exclusive only for guest staying on the room, they dont give passwords to day use guests, which is kind of unfair.

Overall, its good. Must come back soon.

Resort laid out over several levels sprawled across a cliff along main road...easy to find...views are excellent...
Too many stairs and difficult for the elderly and the disabled...rooms with overlooking the sea have large balconies
We had initial problems with our key which was promptly attended to by the staff...but we continued to have difficulty with our doorknob...
The unbelievable development however was that there was no water at 5am...from the faucet or the shower...water water everywhere but unfortunately not in the bathroom...if you call reception nobody answers ...the same went for restaurant and the coffeebar....i had to go and look for hotel personnel and only chanced upon the security guard who promptly informed maintenance...
I think it is important for a resort to have somebody man the front desk 24/7 to deal with any and all contingencies...otherwise it might be a good idea to get the guard's mobile so you may request him to inform the front desk

It was a last minute decision to try Dakong Bato. The lobby was welcoming although the guard can do some probing skills. The staff was accommodating especially when we explained the situation to them about the need for space.

Security, ambiance, price, and the lantaw were great!
