OHBH exceeded all my expectations! I was traveling solo for the first time and I wanted a quiet, friendly local- type experience away from all the mega resort crowds. Orange Hill was a gem… gorgeous grounds, terrific food and potent cocktails, an uncrowded swimming pool and a pristine beach across the road with very nice snorkeling and virtually no other people! But what truly made this place special was the staff…EVERYONE was outstanding! Chris, Danielle, Brendan went out of their way to accommodate all my needs. And a special shout out to Reno… who always had a ready smile and a willingness to help. I do plan to return next year, with my closest friend in tow!!
We spent one night here because our flight to the Abacos was cancelled. The staff is tremendous. Friendly and helpful. The rooms are a bit worn but very clean. The restaurant was great! The food was authentic Bahamian tasted fantastic.
My husband and I visited this Inn for our first stay, spending 5 nights, May 30, 2022. It was fantastic, we LOVED every minute and hated to leave. We had a chance to ride the bus around the island a bit and were so glad to get back to the Inn, which we found to be so quiet and relaxing and VERY well run. A super friendly famiy runs the place, has for many years, and they lovingly care for it in order to give you a great, quiet, relaxing and personal experience. Not alot of rooms, which is nice, we had one of the cottages and just loved it and our bed was so very comfy, much better than at home! The food was great and they have a very nice, easy, fun "honor bar" where you can get a cold beer, soda, etc. when you like. We were allowed to tag along on the daily grocery store run (thanks again!) and got some snacks, fruit, etc, for our efficiency room. The view from our balcony was sooo nice! We enjoyed that for AM coffee and afternoon cards/beers. The beach is just across the street, and is gorgeous. Plus, we usually were the only ones on it, which was extra nice. The pool was nice, as was lounging under an umbrella on the pool deck...fabulous! No complaints with this place at all. Yes, there are some areas that are kinda dated, but it's all very clean and well kept. If you are picky and prefer 5-star resorts, you may long for that luxury BUT just sit back, enjoy the lovely and friendly staff, pop open a beverage and take in that fabulous, quiet, relaxing view!! We would not hesitate to return and if we ever go back to Nassau, THIS is where we want to stay. Thank You everyone at Orange Hill for making our stay so wonderful!…
I stayed at Orange Hill with a large group for a diving trip. It was an extremely comfortable place to both to stay and to relax. The manager was very attentive to our group and went out of his way to accommodate special requests. Rooms were simple but clean and quiet. We were able to lounge comfortably both by the pool and in the main restaurant area. Would gladly stay there again.
We stayed at OHB a few times years ago - always in transit to or from an out island. When I was planning our recent trip to San Salvador, I looked at all the reasonable choices for a one night stay not too far from the airport and, once again, nothing seemed to be as good an idea as Orange Hill. We were very pleasantly surprised at some updating and the state of the beautiful and impeccably maintained grounds. We were greeted like old friends by the very friendly manager, Brendan. Our unit (the pink cottage iA) was very clean, comfortable, quiet and well supplied. Although we did not need the kitchen, it was equipped so that one could do some self catering. I had asked in my reservation to borrow a hair dryer and there was one in the bathroom for me. The pool was sparkling clean and had fairly new loungers, with a covered setting area and some umbrellas for shade. We had a delicious dinner in the restaurant ( baked snapper and lobster tail dinners with great sides of mac-n-cheese, plantains, coleslaw) and made use of the honor bar. Our lovely server, Sharlene, did an excellent job and also took good care of us the next day at lunch before we left for the airport. We had dinner with a couple we met in SS and enjoyed sitting in a table in the bar area where it was a small and cozy space right by a window facing the gardens and ocean. As others have said, if you want some American chain hotel with all the bells and whistles then perhaps this is not the place for you; however, if you want a family owned and operated charming little hotel with a wonderful view that exudes warmth and personal attention, then this is it!…
Not the Ritz, not a Hyatt, it's a trip to your great aunts retreat! Feels like you are part of her family! Friendliest staff ever!We went on a diving trip with none divers also! Judy took us to the grocery store for supplies! Stayed in a cottage and our daughter had a pool side room. Will definitely return! Only complaint is that my husband asked for the recipe for the spaghetti sauce from dinner and haven't received it yet! Loved the meals!
We are world travellers and never have we experienced a more friendly, customer driven, accommodating hotel. Run by a family with a staff who seem to be their extended family, our experience was overwhelmingly positive. No request seemed to be a problem even though their facility was busy and full. We felt welcomed and important. A huge shout out to Charlene on the front desk and also our waitress at dinner who was the stand out employee for us. However, having said that they were all engaging and happy going about their business. The grounds are impeccable and the pool large and so enjoyable with lots of loungers. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for a exceptional stay. Jan and Mike Dingle
My husband and I (plus a handful of other travelers) were put up there last year in June by Bahamas Air since we missed our connecting AA flight back to the US from Nassau after our vacation in Long Island. Bahamas Air was so terribly delayed getting into and out of Long Island that we had to pay for all new return connections incl. a 1 way flight with Bahamas Air to Miami the next day. The whole thing was a true ordeal and yes, after arguing with Bahamas Air they paid for the hotel room but it was such a miserable experience and the hotel was like a Motel 6. Old and cheap with windows that did not close properly etc. etc. We pretty much stayed dressed sleeping not to touch the linens and to be able to get up at 4am to catch our taxi to the airport for a 7am Bahamas Air flight. The little restaurant on site had decent food for dinner and you helped yourself to beer/water (by honor system running a tab) at an unsupervised bar which invites heavy drinkers as no one kept track of things. The waitress was nice but I would NEVER EVER stay there did I have a choice! It is a budget hotel and I would give it 1/2 a star if I could. So be aware and disregard the glowing reviews!!!…
We have stayed at Orange Hill many times when we have a layover in Nassau after a visit to one of the Family Islands. It is always delightful. The staff is incredibly kind and helpful, the restaurant is very good and the rooms are clean. There is an enforced quiet time at night which makes it easy to enjoy a good night's sleep. The bonus is that it is only about 5 minutes away from the airport and the beach is right across the street.
After missing our connecting flight to Eleuthera, the airline put us up at this wonderful hotel. Everything was so beautiful and clean. We had an amazing dinner and enjoyed ourselves so much that we all want to come back. The owners were very kind and helpful. Cannot say enough great things about our stay !! Treat yourself with a stay here !
