1st visit- beautiful setting. Resort property maintain nicely. Great beach/snorkeling (looking out to water along right side) we saw family squid, tropical fish, crabs, octopus, spotted eagle ray, barracuda. Cruise ships come by daily in and out of port- cool to see. 3 large floating rafts great to swim out and lay on. The food is just ok- over priced. We brought frozen meats to cook. Grills kept very clean. Extra towel requests came within 10-15 minutes. No problem parking car rental. Boat water taxi easy if needed.
This is our home property timeshare but we have not been back since the hurricane damage a few years ago. I had read a few negative reviews and was mentally prepared but we were all pleasantly surprised and very pleased with everything the resort has to offer. Our family of 8, including 2 grandkids will have great memories of the friendly staff at the activity center to the bellman who joked with the grandkids. Onika from guest relations worked with me to get adjoining units as well as making sure our deliveries from Amazon were secure. We preordered groceries from Moe's and when we arrived, Jeff graciously made sure all of our packages, luggage, groceries and gear were delivered to our rooms. When we had a leak in the kitchen, within 10 minutes of our call to maintenance, someone was there and fixed the leak. The staff did a great job keeping the beaches, pool area and bathrooms clean and well maintained. You were given beach towels to last mid week, but there were always towel covers available at any time at the pool. And the units had washers and dryers if you really wanted clean beach towels daily. Some reviews complained about taking 3 elevators to the pool..the resort is built into the hillside and taking 3 elevators was really no inconvenience. And we noticed that anytime any staff member was on the elevator, they would relinquish the elevator to the guests. The grandkids loved the poolside activities and the people there made them feel special. We ate at the Sunset Cove for several meals and while the menu was limited, the portions were ample and the food very good. The Marketplace had great breakfast pastries but you had to get there early for the good stuff, which my hubby did. Our family had a great experience here and our only negative was the kitchen cabinets were a little worn..haha.…
Beautiful resort. We enjoy Marriott, and we loved this resort! The restaurant/bar is quite good and very convenient. The rooms are spacious, lovely and well stocked. The employees were all wonderful! Our view was terrific; we were in the Virgin Gorda building. The elevators were having issues in the next building, but we heard they were waiting on a part, so that should be fixed quickly.
We spent a week here (Oct 29 - Nov 5) and can only say we were disappointed. The villa was nice enough, but everything else . . . First issue - you cannot take a walk here. The entire place is built into the cliffside, which helps with views, but to get from our villa to the beach entailed quite a journey. First an elevator from our floor to the parking level of the building, cross the street, enter the next building, elevator down 6 floor to the ground level of that building, cross over again, enter the next building, elevator down 4 floors to finally arrive at the pool/beach/restaurant level. Once, maybe not so bad, but need to zip back to your room for something? Quite a trek!!! Second issue - one, only one, very small cafe offering food. OK, so maybe you could live with that . . . unless you have any dietary issues, or simply want variety. Several nights of the week the cafe ran "special" nights . . . meaning you ate the special or your only other option was a hamburger or salad . . . ridiculous. Service was hit and miss too . . . at one lunch my salad arrived with out the bacon. Asked our server and she dug through it with my fork because she didn't believe me!!!! Then said "do you want bacon?" . . . seriously . . . then disappeared. I had finished my salad before she reappeared and acted very put upon when I still asked for my bacon. Practically threw the little styro box at me as we left. When I opened the box in our room I found a pile of burnt bacon . . . so much for adding it to my omelet the next morning. We had preordered groceries, etc. to be delivered as we typically have breakfast in our villa. Advice to anyone coming here without a car, order enough to cover lunches and dinners too. Addendum to second issue - Sure, you can go eat elsewhere . . . so long as you don't mind an additional (minimum) $40 added to your cost to cover the cab there and back . . . oh, and the cab rides are per person, not per journey, so the more of you there are, the more you pay. One night we went down to the cafe only to find that it was pasta night . . . yay . . . can't each flour, so past is a big no no. Been eating salad for virtually every meal so far so desperate or a change. Went to the front desk for suggestions of somewhere close by. We were directed to the restaurant at another resort, 10 minutes (or $20) away. Got in a cab and away we go. Our driver dropped us in a parking lot, in the dark, pointing down a dark path saying to follow it to the restaurant . . . and off he goes. We follow the path down the cliffside, past dark buildings, etc. looking for the restaurant. Finally find it and it's closed. So we head back the way we came, in the dark. No idea where we might get another cab, feels like miles from anywhere. So, I called the Marriott to tell them what happened and to ask for help. Not interested. Meanwhile we see a security guard in a golf cart who gives us directions to find the lobby of this place. Finally find a human we can ask for help. She was lovely. First she offered to drive us to another restaurant, then teed us up to share a cab with another couple who were going to Mim's for dinner (Mim's is awesome!). Now, keep in mind what I said earlier . . . there is really no such thing as sharing a cab as each passenger is charged individually . . . tack on another $30 to get to Mims . . . and another $30 to get back afterwards. All of this got us trying to find a car to rent. We now know that one needs to be booked months in advance. The only thing we could find would have cost >$500 for the three days we had left. So, while St. Thomas was beautiful, and I would happily come back, it would not include staying here.…
This is my 2nd visit to this resort. We exchanged in thru Interval. The people at this resort are very friendly. There is a lot of room for improvement with the bar ( if you can really call it that) and the restaurant food quality. We were disappointed with the food and drinks for the price. This is my reason for 4 stars instead of 5. However I would still return here because of the beach. It’s the nicest, Sandiest beach with great snorkeling. Just be prepared to go off site for better dining options.
I stayed at this property from Sep 28 to Oct 2. It is a very nice property at a great location, with outstanding amenities & well kept / maintained. The staff is very professional & friendly. I would like to specially thank Akari (front desk) for following up & resolving an issue. For any future visit to Saint Thomas, this will be the place I would prefer to stay.
We just returned from a stay at Frenchman’s Cove. The resort was outstanding and the staff was super friendly . Marvin was tremendous who worked outside by the pool. Always recognizing us by name with a big smile every day was we went swimming. The 2 bedroom villa in the Tortola building was beautiful. We couldn’t’ ask for a better vacation! Best dinner was at the Prime restaurant with outstanding views.
A wonderful resort with a staff to match! Janine, the concierge gave us the name of a wonderful taxi service to us (Larry Grell’s -phone number is: 340-227-8639) as well as the Island Jeep Tours! Her recommendations were perfect! Deva was wonderful and made sure we had the perfect room! The beach, pool and activities were great to relax and enjoy the wonderful weather!
First time to St Thomas. Considered using a vrbo, but so glad we stayed here with resort amenities. Poolside entertainment was great, especially “After Irma” singers. Great having water activities right at the resort, VI Cat excursion, night kayaking, snorkeling right in front of the hotel (with your own snorkel gear), pool/beachside bar and grill, floating pad in the water. Enjoyed listening to the evening music from my balcony, yet quiet when door was closed. Beautiful sunsets from balcony every night. Close up views of cruise ships coming into port. Warning if you go with young children, alot of heavy drinking in the pool with vulgar language by guests.
After reading some of the reviews I wasn’t sure what to expect and must say this place was totally amazing. It’s a short ride from the airport to the Vacation Club and taxis are plentiful at the airport. Our room was not yet ready when we arrived so we stored our bags and went down to the pool and ate. We were assigned to the St. John building, 3rd floor room 531. So many people concerned on these reviews about the view. Let me say this room had an incredible view. We also loved the view behind the room on the hillside. It was beautiful seeing the iguanas and hummingbirds in the trees and hearing the coquis. Also, this is a Marriott Vacation Club, part of their time share group - which we are owners. It’s a villa and our room had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, living room and dining area, full washer and dryer. There is no room service because it’s not a hotel so don’t expect it. Also villas are only made up every few days unless you request it for a charge. As far as check in and check out all vacation clubs have the same rules regarding those times and they cannot be changed. Your Marriott Bonvoy does not carry over here either so don’t expect an “upgrade”. I read reviews complaining about all these things but it’s a vacation club so please don’t fault the property for being something they are not. As far as the elevators go, we did take 3 elevators to the pool deck and it’s not a big deal. They are fast and a non-issue. The pool is a decent size and very nice with an infinity side and a slide. The beach is just steps away. Beautiful area and we enjoyed seeing the fish and just relaxing. We never had issues with finding pool or beach chairs. As far as service all the employees were super nice and friendly. We especially loved Yvonne the concierge and the man who tended to the beach area in the mornings- I am so sorry I cannot remember his name- who we spoke to in the mornings raking the beach. He was so kind and lovely. We ate twice at the Sunset Grill on property and both times it was delicious. Some evenings they had live music. I have nothing negative to say at all about the property. I loved every minute of it and hope to return someday. Thanks to everyone for a beautiful stay.…
