I'm so happy I found this place! Affordable, clean, and the friendliest staff ever. They work hard to make you comfortable and happy. The location of the guest house is perfect, rstaurants, bakeries, shops, waterfront, beaches - everything is either within walking distance or a short $1 ride on the Safari Bus away. I would definitely stay there again!

I rate this place excellent not because it would be a 5 star competitor but because of what it is. It is a classic old style down home guest house where they will go out of their way to make your stay right. Clean, comfy, simple rooms at a great value walking distance from everything in the center of Charlotte Amalie. And Rudy and his wife will bend over backwards to help you out whether it's calling a taxi or even storing your luggage in their living room allowing you extra time after check out to walk around town. You get a very warm and welcome feeling here and we hope to stay here again in the future.

It was our first time flying overseas and we didn’t know what to expect. The staff was very friendly and patient. The rooms, lobby and hallways were clean and smelled good. The guest house was within walking distance of Main Street and the waterfront. $1 public safari transportation was also within waking distance. I/ we would definitely book again! We stayed for three days which wasn’t nearly enough time to explore as much as we wanted but staying at the Midtown Guesthouse definitely made it affordable for us to do more during our stay. It really is in the middle of it all!!!!

The location was perfect! Many of the popular eateries were within minutes of walking. If your looking for glitz and glamour, keep it moving. If your into a quaint, historical, garden like vibe then this is it. The property was well kept. Every area of this place was clean. The best thing about this hotel is the staff. I was super needy:) Iron, scissors, taxi, etc. and they were more than happy to readily assist. Hopefully, upon my next return the new café will be open. I would definitely stay here again.

Cute, relaxing and basic amenities for a great price. The staff are available to help you and the hotel was clean. The area around the hotel is safe. The convenient store is down the street. Get the raisin bread as a snack! Breakfast is available at multiple restaurants since you're downtown. Taxis are right here and the atm is located nearby for getting cash. You'll hear the baby chicks and chickens in the morning lol Have fun! - The Snyder's from Austin TX

I was here during the COVID-19 excitement. This hotel was the single best thing about St. Thomas, and I would happily stay here again should I go back. This is a family-run hotel, so you will be supporting local people. It is not fancy, but it is much closer to the experience of daily life in the US Virgin Islands than any chain hotel could be. The hospitality of the owners is the value here. (Unfortunately I didn't get names.) The man who ran the place was knowledgeable and made valuable suggestions that really helped. The woman at the office (presumably his wife) was friendly and took care of me admirably despite showing up a bit early. It was like she was expecting me. I cannot say enough for the hospitality of the owners. The location is great. It's close to the main attractions on St. Thomas and the daily life. Since restaurants were not exactly open, I took advantage of the courtyard as a dining area. The balconies were fantastic. They're remodeling to make for better handicap access. Overall, I'd not consider any other place to stay should I visit St. Thomas again.

Midtown Guest House is very convenient. It's in the middle of the town and close to the bay which I liked. Everything is nearby including attractions. I love the rustic looks and feel of the facility. There's lots of stairs (no lift). I don't mind the stairs since it's an additional cardio exercise for me. They offer coffee per your liking. Wifi is free. It's quite slow for me since I use a VPN.

I was really struggling to find a sensibly priced option to stay for a couple of nights on St Thomas. I am not a big fan of mega-resorts anyway, and it seemed that was one option, and Air BnBs in remote residential areas were the other. Then by luck i stumbled upon Midtown Guest House...budget friendly, right in the centre of the island's main town, so you're not just stuck to a manufactured resort atmosphere. You're within a few feet of main street, the legendary 99 steps, a national heritage synagogue etc. You could wander out and see how real people in the VIs live their lives, evening basketball games, little league games , not far from food places etc. So the location was ideal. There is also guest parking, in an island where parking can be a challenge. The facilities were appropriate for the cost, and the wifi was excellent. Perhaps the thing that makes me give Midtown such a high rating is the management. The owners live on site, and are superhelpful. My credit card got declined when I made the online booking. This happened in two places, here and at a hotel in NYC. The reason was an issue with the way my bank had listed my billing address on their systems- it was nothing to do with me or my credit. But how the two affected accommodations dealt with it was revealing. The NYC accommodation treated me like I was some criminal .The sent me a brusque message telling me the booking would be cancelled unless a valid credit card was provided in two hours. The Midtown told me it had been declined and could I check with my bank and try again. When I advised them what my bank had said, they tried two or three times to place the booking. The bank still had not updated its systems. But rather than cancelling the booking they let me try the bank again. On the 4th attempt the bank fixed the issue and the booking went thru. This was great for me because it had been a pain to find someplace to stay in the first place. I can't thank them enough for supporting their customer....they could have just said 'not my problem'. That's what the NYC hotel did, and they lost my business!

This is a basic clean hotel a block from shopping. We picked this hotel to give the younger family members a feel for island life. They need to know it isn’t all about good chain hotels. Experiencing different cultures is important even if it doesn’t have a coffee bar in the room or a concierge desk. Perfect for a precruise or after cruise night or two.

We spent 4 nights at the Midtown. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and only problem was my husband has trouble with stairs. Carrying his luggage was assisted by an employee with a great big smile. It was convenient to town and taxi service was GREAT
