We had an excellent time at lunch. The menu is great, great salads, service, drinks, etc. Even an Iguana! I wouldn't recommend dinner. It was terribly late and we were disappointed not to get an appetizer or extras to help us as we waited. Was not the waiter's fault...
We had a great stay. The beach access, patio and pool area really make this place. The hotel is right the beach with chairs, umbrellas, snorkel gear all available. The rooms are cute and quaint, but very clean and comfortable. We had a king standard, which was a very tight space, but still ok. I’d definitely suggest going with a suite or patio room. The staff was great and always helpful. The owners are very friendly and mingle with the guests. The morning coffee was good and very convenient. Breakfast is a bit strange since you have to go to the window and ask for whatever you want. Not an issue for me since I just wanted the coffee. Having the restaurant on site is a great convenience. The food was good and the view is great. Overall, it was a great place to stay and I’d definitely stay again. …
We were able to get a day pass for the beach, pool, restaurant, bar. It was a reasonable price to have chairs & an umbrella on the beach. It is a beautiful beach with great snorkeling close to shore. There is lots of sand, some rocks. Facilities were clean and well maintained. We had a nice brunch in the restaurant.
I’m going with 4.5 stars rounded up as my complaints are fairly minor. First the pros: - No kids. As a child-free millennial, this was such a nice feature. It was quiet and peaceful and I wasn’t annoyed by anyone’s kids running, throwing, yelling, etc. - Queer. Yes. Just yes to this energy. I visited with a group of 8 mostly queer friends and we could relax and feel safe and welcomed. It was beautiful. - Amenities. Free snorkel equipment rental/borrowing!!! I’d never snorkeled before but this is the place to learn!!! The water in front of the resort is so perfectly calm and also shallow, it’s perfect for beginners. Plus SO MANY STARFISH. We actually went out on one of the snorkel tours on a boat from Christiansted and I ended up seeing way more fish snorkeling around the hotel than on the trip. - Staff. All the staff were wonderful and helpful. Anything we needed they tried to assist with. Now the cons: - Coffee. Ummm. I’m sorry? Giving queers hot coffee in a tropical climate feels very aggressive. Where’s the iced coffee?!? (This is a joke. I hope it reads as such. I don’t expect iced coffee to be available at any hotel really but I mean I would be super happy if it was) - Hooks. So this is a minor complaint but it is one I think the hotel could actually address pretty easily and affordably. There are basically no hooks anywhere for hanging wet swimsuits (in the regular rooms). The bathroom had one towel rack. I ended up hanging suits on every drawer handle and edge. Some additional hooks in both the bathroom and main room would be really useful. Being at the beach, you end up with a lot of wet stuff! - Room size. Now this isn’t one the hotel can easily fix but it’s worth mentioning for potential folks booking a stay. The standard sized rooms are very small. It was difficult for my spouse and I to navigate around the bed to the bathroom if one of us was trying to do anything like get dressed. If you open the cabinet door to get something out, you hit the bed and no one can get passed. However my friends stayed in some of the villas and those have tons of space. If you need more space or are expecting a regular sized room like you may find at a Hilton or similar, I’d get a villa or something larger than the standard room. Overall, wonderful experience. I would stay there again. I doubt I’d even look at other resorts on the island because the pros far outweigh the cons for me. …
We opted for a Courtyard Kitchen room that was across the street, which was very nice. The room was spacious, and being across the street gave a sense of peacefulness. We appreciated being away from the main area and enjoyed the quiet atmosphere of where the room is. Barbara was simply amazing, always helpful, and kind. If anyone is looking for a friendly place to stay with a fantastic beach this is your place. We utilized the complimentary snorkeling gear each day and glad we did. The amount of fish, starfish, and turtles we saw in front of the resort made the stay even better, it was like swimming in an aquarium.
Everything was great here. Friendly staff, clean property and the best beach we were able to find on our first trip to the island. We were able to leave our room and within 10 minutes, be snorkeling above sea turtles and sea stars on their beach. They also provided snorkeling gear along with many other things. We would definitely stay here again. Pics taken from my drone, right on their beach
We visited on a day pass and had an absolutely wonderful day! We had good food and great drinks too! We will definitely be back, hopefully to stay at this hotel! Everyone on staff was very friendly and the owner was super nice!
We loved our stay at Sand Castle on the Beach. The entire staff provide great customer care. The owners make you feel welcome and the place has an "at home" vibe. The rooms vary in size and amenities. We were in a King room for two nights and it was comfortable and had all the basics. We then moved to a king suite (which is what I wanted but they were all booked our first two nights). The suite had a separate bedroom and well stocked kitchen if you prefer to fix your meals. We walked to the town every morning and had coffee at Polly's (nice place for a bagel or egg sandwich). The grocery is about a mile walk as well. Had great food at the restaurant (large servings) and had wonderful beach service every day (thanks Awad!). I wish I could go back this minute!!!
Wow!! What can I say? Let me first say the location and the grounds were beautiful. One of the sweetest personnel that we encountered was a young gentleman named Jerome!! Thank you so much for exemplifying excellent Customer Service!! The location and grounds were breathtaking but the attitudes and atmosphere were horrific!! We knew before getting there that it was mainly an LGBTQ+ community which was no problem and I mean no problem but I have never encountered such disrespect!! The white staff was not friendly at all it made me feel like we were being discriminated against because we were black! I know the black personnel has to feel the same way! I will never go back to that place unless it’s under new management or unless they train the staff in customer service!! We were there to celebrate our wedding. We wanted to get married there! Our kitchen frig leaked we woke up to water 💦 on the floor!! Such a waste of a beautiful location!! Sand Castle on the beach you have got to do better!! …
Black Locals, be careful here! An older white lady with short hair approached my sister and me, interrogating us to wear our hand bands to indicate that we paid for the chairs and umbrella while no one else was questioned (of course, everyone else was white and most of them were not wearing a hand band). The older white lady needs an attitude check, she will meet the right local one day, and it won't be pretty.
