Hotel is by the sea, but there is no beach. Good location in Road Town, capital of BVI on Tortola. Everything in BVI is expensive. Very hilly country with few lush 'palm tree' beaches, but is sailor's paradise. Lots of islands to visit, bays with beaches. Staff in hotel are great. Small swimming pool and sun lounge area, hardly used during my 2 week stay Oct 2022 here for business. Food in hotel is good but pricey.
After 10 days on a sail trip we needed a nice clean room, centrally located to the ferry and great food nearby. Maria’s was a perfect fit. We obviously didn’t need a seaside view since we had been looking at water for past 10 days. Room was clean with a huge king bed, great shower. And unlike many of the pools we dipped in during our cruising , the pool was not hot tub temperature. They have a beautiful dinning room, both open air and enclosed, so we choose Maria’s for a long overdue breakfast and relax before catching our ferry back to St Thomas.I could see spending a few days here !
I would agree that the hotel was not as nice as presented but was still very nice, especially for a quick trip. Our room was nice and comfortable. The restaurant and bar were good and reasonably priced. The location was great. Not a lot of services offered on-site, but the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely stay again.
Four couples stayed the beginning of June. The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly! Great location! Could walk to many places. Will plan to stay again when in the area! Didn't use the pool, but it looked good.
Positive: They let’s us check in a little early. Negative: Staff not very friendly. No working internet or TV. When mentioned to them they say to unplug internet box in room and if that does not work, you’re out of luck. Warning: The jerk chicken wrap in horribly hot and we like hot foods. Wife was unable to take a second bite. Yikes!!! Mentioned this to waitress and she said nothing back. You just don’t get the feeling guests are welcome. We will not be coming back.
We stayed at Maria's the night before our sailboat charter and the night afterwards. There are many things about Maria's that warrant praise. The property is clean, modern and quiet and within walking distance of the St. Thomas to Roadtown Ferry. Seaside rooms offer a balcony with a beautiful view. Reception staff was very friendly and helpful, insuring a cab was waiting to take us to the ferry at 6: 45 am We ate breakfast and dinner in the hotel's restaurant. There is a large covered area facing the ocean. I highly recommend the rack of lamb- six chops that were delicious. The business center was a life saver, allowing us to print all required documents for re entering the U.S.
Our accommodations a Maria's by the Sea were first class! The room was spacious, clean, and freshly refinished. The king size bed was perfect with high end bedding. We ate at their restaurant and had an excellent meal served by Roy. We checked out at 11:30 but asked if we could leave our bags for later pickup. The staff helped us store the bags and let us sit by the pool until our evening appointment time. We were conveniently located close to shops and restaurants along the Roadtown harbor. A short distance from the ferry dock and the cruise ship docks. Maria's is first class and we highly recommend it when in Roadtown.
We chartered a sailboat for 10 days and because of timing had to take the first ferry the next day. Maria's by the Sea was the perfect place to lay our heads for one night. Its proximity to restaurants in town allowed us to walk to dinner easily. The next morning it was close enough to the ferry terminal that we could walk with our bags. Perhaps the only negative was the water pressure wasn't the best but we survived for one night :)
Great location. We took the ferry into Tortola from St Thomas and American Airlines lost my bag. This was a great place to wait out the one day wait for my bag. Clean, fairly modern, walking distance from the terminal and to restaurants. Price was pretty high at $240 but it was very clean and comfortable and for the convenience I wasn’t going to complain. Breakfast is poor so we just blew it off and went to the French Cafe by the Moorings. Walking distance to Pussers, and Dove. Short cab ride to the Moorings the next day. Staff was very friendly. TV was inoperable. Coffee maker in the room.
My husband and I spent one night at Maria’s before traveling to Virgin Gorda. We had a very nice experience and would stay here again! The premium ocean view room was clean and bed was very comfortable. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. They really seemed appreciative of our business. Breakfast at the hotel was good with a nice view. Easy walk to the ferry dock, even with luggage. Thank you for a pleasant stay!
