The hotel is stunning and the rooms do not disappoint. The outdoor shower, oversized tub, and private pool are all appointments that are not forgotten. Unfortunately it rained the majority of our stay which is not the hotel’s fault but made it so we could not enjoy all of the amenities of the property. Beyond the excellence in design and inclement weather, there were still several service glitches that I felt shouldn’t have happened for the over the top prices the property charges. We arrived in the evening and had dinner reservations soon after our arrival. We requested a pick up to take us across the property to dinner to save time and stay dry (since it was raining). The pick up never came even after texting and asking about it twice, so after waiting 20 minutes we decided to dodge raindrops and go it ourselves. Maid service was requested daily but did not come the first day and had to be re-requested twice before they came. On our welcome letter it listed some of our titanium benefits included daily fruit, but when I called to request the fruit I was charged $26 for the fruit plate. Walking on the path next to the golf course, security barreled up to us in a golf cart and told us we couldn’t walk on the path and escorted us back to our room. I never really understood why we couldn’t walk there as the security guard did not speak English but there were no signs to indicate the sidewalk was not suitable for pedestrians… pretty sure that’s what sidewalks are for! The hotel arranged a car to the airport for us but the car never came. After waiting 45 minutes, it was discovered the staff booked the car for the wrong day. We lucked out and got an Uber and just made it (it’s extremely unreliable out there so plan to have a car), however that’s not the note you want to leave on after spending a weekend relaxing. Lastly I would note the beach is not a sand beach but rocks. There are two small areas where they have dumped some sand on top of the rocks to make a beach setting for lounger chairs, but if you go out in the water more than a few steps you are walking on sharp rocks so keep this in mind if you are coming and planning to swim in the ocean. Despite the above snafus, I enjoyed my stay and having some R&R, and I think the property is definitely worth visiting at least once.

On February 9, 2021, I received a letter from Mr Pedro Farao, hotel manager for the Dorado Beach, Ritz Carlton Reserve, inviting me for a complimentary one night stay at the hotel which included a Plunge Reserve King Room with taxes and resort fees . This was in response to a letter that I wrote to the general manager, Marriott hotels and others complaining of the poor service that I had received during my previous stay at the hotel. I had stated on my letter that I was not planning to publish on any social media or travel blogs my comments as I wanted them to become a 6 star hotel and improve their service. However, despite my comments and recommendations, my return experience was worse than ever. Welcoming experience:the manager and other staff members welcome me and my guest (sister) at the Valet entrance. They introduced me to the 'ambassador" who would be guiding me through my stay. We went to the front desk to check in around 230pm , being aware that check in process started at 4pm. They graciously kept our luggage and escorted us to the restaurant, with the intention that we could have lunch while the room was getting ready. It was 5pm and the room was not ready. I went to the front desk and they kept saying that the room was being inspected. By 515pm, I had lost all patience and announced that I was leaving. The manager and some other lady came and tried to talk us into staying, but it was too late. They even offered to pay our dinner that evening. We told them that we had requested dinner reservations but we never heard from the "ambassador". The place is unkempt and poorly managed. The restaurant seating was dirty and the severs were slow. Around 4pm, they started cleaning and changing tables and nobody came to fill our empty water glasses. The service at this location is not 6 star. On my previous stay, the coffee machine in the room did not work and the replacement took more than 8 hrs to come. Housekeeping services were requested for a specific time, nobody showed up. They charge you $125 for hotel services like snorkeling and bicycle equipment. When I requested snorkeling equipment, they told me that they had none. I could continue to discuss flaws and disappointments but the list is too long. The beauty of the rooms and the access to the private pool and beach are destroyed and vanished by the terrible service and lack of personnel at this location. The waiters and waitresses are young and inexperienced, and when we inquired about certain cocktails , our waitress did not know much about it and speculated on what she thought were the ingredients. Our waitress at the restaurant opened the bottle of wine by placing it on the table and struggling to get the cork out while keeping her elbow on my friend's face. The common bathrooms near the restaurant were dirty and unkempt. There was water on the floor and tissue paper all over the toilets, a signal that nobody had given maintenance to the area for hours. Overall, if you are an experience traveler and like to be pampered in a 5-6 star hotel, do not come to this place. You will waste your money and end up irritated at the end of each day. Nevertheless, the manager who reads the comments will only reply that they are sorry that we had that experience and that they would like to discuss this further with you. T I am overly disappointed and embarrassed that this hotel located in beautiful Dorado, Puerto Rico, does not represent who we are and how service is provided in a 6 star resort. My questions for management are: How come the room was not ready by 4pm, check in time, when you knew that I was coming? Why is management of a 6 star reserve not involved in making sure that the hotel is clean and rooms are ready?

This review is long overdue, my wife and I are on our honeymoon at your hotel. One of the most beautiful hotels we have been staying in. The room is spacious and oceanfront and the ground is lush with tropical landscape. The people are so kind and genuine. With every encounter with the staff are greeted with a smile. We booked a fishing charter and caught a couple of nice fish. We brought them back to the hotel for the chef to prepare for our dinner. This turns out to be one of the most memorable dinners of our life. The executive chef of the hotel came to visit our table and describe the experience of 5 courses dinner prepared from our freshly caught fish. Everything we taste was delicious and well thoughtful, from the tiradito to the entree of locally Puerto Rican style mojo. We are extremely satisfied with chef Suttiphan Ngamtipakon and his team at encanta restaurant that personally took care of us. We still talk about the experience that night every so often. A minor note is that the restaurant service could have been better. And we have been eating in all of your restaurants which has similar spotty service or lack of attention from the service staffs. For example, we have to wave for the server to refill our drinks or the table has not been clear promptly. The weather in August is a bit humid but we are lucky to have no rain during our stay. We love Dorado so much that we will be bringing our family with us on the next trip. Every aspect of the hotel has been amazing from the room, the people, to the food, is excellent! Adam

Truly one of the most beautiful resorts that I’ve ever visited. This is the perfect place to get away to and be pampered. I brought a stack of books and never touched my laptop. The white glove service was attentive but not intrusive. The food was amazing - and the facilities were immaculate. I enjoyed my stay and wish I had booked a longer visit. I will Return and stay longer….

The set-up is breathtaking, they've done such a brilliant job designing this thing. But the awful failures in so many aspects of the service had made it a very disappointing vacation. When you pay 2200 USD per night it's outrageous to suffer from such unprofessional errors and disrespect. Also, get ready to wait 60 min for food at breakfast, after waiting 20 min for a table. Or ask for a pillow at 3pm and get it after 10pm when you already have a do not disturb sign on the door etc. When your internet and tv don't work in the room after 5pm there's no IT person to fix it. The 'butler' team is awesome and wonderful, it's not their fault. Theres' a lack of mid-executives.  Also, there are some policy issues: why, for example, send security guards to the pool and hot tub to force people out at 7pm,  why not allowing a dip after 7pm? Get ready to ask for each item 3 times before you'll get it, and pay 500$ for a pcr test if you need one. I was expecting more, and the service problems had made it hard to relax, yet the property is heaven.  The plunge pool water front suits are beautiful. The east beach is more quiet, which was great for us.
