The hotel was very clean in all areas. The staff was friendly and worked hard to make our stay pleasant. I like to send a big thank you to Martha at the pool bar for making the best mojitos I have had in a long time. That said, I must say that they need more staff to handle the huge amount of clients. There was nobody at the pool to bring drinks and we had to walk all the way to one of the bars. At the bar they only had two people mixing drinks. There was an army of people offering tours but nobody to serve. The staff at the buffet had to run around to serve all of us. The reservations for the restaurants were given as early as 7:00 am. Not what I call a relaxing vacation. The Covid test was not included nor scheduled, so we had to wait more than one hour because there was only one nurse doing both the test and the paperwork. In general this was not what we were expecting.

Well, you might as well book a resort inland and forget the beach. This will be a detailed review and probably longer than it should have to be but things need to be addressed. There is so much seaweed that you can't go down to the beach without the stench of sewage. This was a family vacation and we had 3 rooms. We paid over $400 for the upgraded "ocean view" with a spa on the patio and "preferred" status on mine and my husband's room. We travel extensively and this was a BIG FAT joke. There was no separate check in/out, we waited in line for over 45 min to check in AND OUR ROOM WASN'T EVEN READY AT 4PM. Then we were hounded about time share presentation/breakfast the next day and we declined....bad choice. Our "preferred" room was not ready at 4pm so we had to wait over an hour to get our room. Once we got into our room it had 2 KING BEDS???? Weird and unnecessary but ok. Our mini bar was empty, we didn't have robes or slippers and there were several light bulbs out in the bathroom area. The room itself was very nice and VERY clean. Housekeeping came and filled the minibar but the lights were never fixed. Our families rooms were ready with robes, slippers and full minibars. Unfortunately, my daughter's room had a smell that was so strong that her and my niece both woke up with headaches. Someone came and sprayed air freshener in front of the A/C, which helped for about 1 night but then came back. My parents room was a complete disaster. The showers in ALL of our rooms were stopped up drains and then became so scalding hot that the resort is asking for a lawsuit because if a small child gets burned, the parents could sue. The shower pressure was great until you run for your life as your behind is burned so bad you just get out of the shower with soap still on you. My parents room also had a leak by the toilet that flooded their bathroom with over an inch of water (I've included pics). Maintenance came and shoved a towel in the leak but just left it like that for the next 6 days. My favorite thing is to take a hot bath each night so I thought the hot tub on the balcony would be awesome since the rooms don't have bathtubs. NOPE. Tepid water and the drain didn't work so after the first night I just watched to see if the housekeeper would empty it.....it stayed with about 5 inches of water in it for 8 days, more wasted money. The pools are clean with plenty of seating but the smell of the seaweed is overpowering in the mornings. The service is very good at the pools but unfortunately the swim up bar is closed indefinitely. I work remotely and the wifi in our room was non existent...kicked me off every 2-3 minutes and was very frustrating. The tech guy came up to our room and it did the same thing to him and he said it would be fixed within a couple of hours or we would switch rooms. It was "fixed" for the remainder of the night and then back to kicking me off the whole time. We went to make a reservation for the Hibachi grill and it was already full so we made one for the steakhouse and the food was amazing. Unfortunately, instead of having an easy way to reserve a table for the restaurants, they make you wake up early, go down to the lobby and there are 2 (sometimes only 1) person at the "concierge" desks to make a restaurant reservation....for 700 guests....what a waste of our time. You have to be in line at 7:45 am if you want a chance at the Hibachi, otherwise, good luck. The French restaurant (didn't even know about this exclusive restaurant until the last day) is AWFUL and the Mediterranean wasn't much better but the food in general is great for all inclusive. The sports bar has good pizza, wings and burgers as well as great drinks. We had friends join us and when we were walking around the resort we noticed that there is a separate pool up by the beach. My husband and I had our black wrist bands on and we were denied entry because "this is only for the rooms around the pool". Since we were told this (twice) by employees at the pool we didn't question it. We were later told that we had exclusive entry to this pool, a lounge area and also the French restaurant....on the last day. The Covid test was a joke.....another thing you have to wake up early and go get in line just to go to the health clinic to wait again. We show up to get our tests and the Dr. was so frazzled that we ended up waiting for almost 2 hours and the people that were with us to get their results ended up getting handed a folder with EVERYONE'S results. They were just flipping through other people's medical records with names, birthdays, etc....what a violation of privacy. My husband witnessed the Dr. pull the tubes out to test them and just lay them in a line (no order and no names on the tubes) so we believe that we just got random results. There was so much wasted time that was a direct result of the policies of the resort. If they would take the time to show the preferred guests what comes with their extra money that would be helpful. We LITERALLY paid extra to have less than our family that didn't. We also were told on the last day that we got upgraded liquor but NOPE. They could easily change so many things - overnight - that would help people to enjoy their stay. I'm listing them below in the hopes that future travelers don't have to waste their vacation on these issues. I would love a refund of the extra money we spent but instead I'll just warn people of the issues and hopefully someone else's stay will be better because of it. 1) Show the preferred guests the amenities that come with preferred status 2) Have someone at each restaurant with a reservation list. Once it's full, put up a sign that the restaurant is full. No lines or hassle and people aren't waking up early on their vacation just to be told that everything is full....the resort shouldn't be wasting peoples valuable time IF they can help it and this is easily remedied. 3) Have a sign at check in that says "preferred" so people don't just get in line and wait so long. 4) Make sure the minibars are stocked properly, robes/slippers are supplied- daily - especially in the preferred areas. 5) Show how to use the hot tub....it is NOT easy to use and change the temp of the water to be HOT not like tap water, especially since we know the water gets scalding hot. 6) Make sure that preferred guests get allowed into the preferred areas since they LITERALLY paid for that. 7) Fix the wifi issues....this is an easy fix since the wifi down at the pool is great. 8) Do something about the seaweed. We know it's a natural occurrence but other resorts were doing a much better job. 9) Get more concierge desks and people to help. Every single time we went down to the concierge desk there were 10-15 people waiting and no one knew who's turn it was, causing some people to get upset. 10) Open the swim up bar!!!

I am very unimpressed and disappointed by the lack of professionalism and dedication from the staff. The hotel lacked entertainment and a night life. The restaurants closed at 10pm including the buffet and the sport bar was the only place open and the food options was very limited, especially for me that I’m vegetarian. In addition, the room service stopped serving at 9pm and he pools and bars closed at 6pm. Please don’t spend your money here, there are much better resorts in punta cana.
