We didn’t plan to visit this hotel, our original accommodation on the west coast let us down at very short notice. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise! The hotel is lovely, a nice size, very clean and has a modern boutique feel to it. The staff are super, even if you sleep through dinner or arrive late for lunch (oops). Nothing is too much trouble and the food is of a very good standard. Special mention to Shane, Tyrell, Mario and Andre. Unfortunately Enterprise beach (on the doorstep) was out of action due to huge amounts of seaweed, however the sister hotel has a lovely beach and you can book a day there with free transfers (it’s approx 15 minutes drive). We also used lots of the local “reggae busses” to get to other beaches, these are $3.50 BD each, you can get on or off absolutely anywhere. Oistins Friday night fish fry is a must see, lots of locals and tourists of all ages. We felt very safe and it’s only a few minutes walk from the hotel. Another must see, head to the rear of the fish market and ask for some fish off cuts (they hand them over free of charge in a bag), walk along the jetty behind the market to the white steps on the left hand side, the turtles flock in for the fish. We had 7/8 each time, incredible sight and completely free! Overall we would definitely return to this hotel and Oistins, which we initially felt would’ve been far too quiet, it’s a lovely spot and very, very friendly.

We stayed at the Abidah by Accra for 7 nights in January 2023 with friends, the rooms were very large and comfortable. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The food was off a good quality as were the drinks. The hotel is located in a quiet spot near to Oistins. Although busy the local area was extremely clean and tourist friendly. The hotel has access to a nearby beach, albeit the sun beds are limited so best advice is to get down early. Drinks service is provided at the beach by the staff which was appreciated. Overall we had a great experience at this hotel.

As part of our 3-island Caribbean jaunt, my mother and I had stopped off for 4 nights on Barbados for the 2nd island of our trip, coming from Antigua and going on to Saint Lucia after. The Abidah by Accra was a lovely hotel in a really nice location. The room was nice, we got a hot tub on the balcony, so you had your own space to unwind after your days exploring! The food was incredible, we were very impressed, felt very Michelin star, we took photos of our meals every night we were there because we couldn't believe the quality and presentation. It really was a welcome change having come from Antigua and the hotel there having very fatty, mediocre food which we put down to it being low-season in September and assumed it was better when it was busier. The hotel grounds, although small, were very neat and well-maintained, it was the only holiday, though, I didn't go in the pool, only because it was quite cosy/cramped outside the front given that it didn't have much space, but we had the beach a few metres away from the front of the hotel, it is probably the best hotel I have ever stayed in and the staff were equally as lovely and pleasant to deal with. I believe there was one waiter (recalling from over 6 months ago having only got round to doing the review), that was a little less polite, but it didn't dampen our spirits as the hotel and experience as a whole made up for it. Would come back, although I was a little underwhelmed by Oystins as it was only really Fridays where it had any life. We found Speitstown (we went on an excursion) to have much more going on. Bridgetown was a bit quiet and a little disappointed given it is the capital but perhaps them only having got Covid over and done with, people were still more apprehensive there than in the UK where our rules were related earlier. Their mandatory mask mandate was removed whilst we were over there so 2 out of 4 days it was strictly masks and then it was optional. We found the locals offering local bus services charging the same as a bus but more frequent to be an enjoyable experience given that the locals all used them. I think the hotel made the Barbados portion of our holiday, that's how lovely it was!

This is my personal opinion and my observations. First and foremost the staff. Amazing, polite , knowledgeable, smiley and providing a service to their guests which was faultless. Now the hotel. Let’s take the staff out of it and look at the basics. Every review tells you about how nice the staff are .. which is lucky for the hotel. It’s small, we all know this as it’s advertised, which we as travellers love. It’s quiet, very quiet ! 17 sun beds which all have one umbrella between 2 beds. So if the other travellers decided to spend the day at the pool , well you would be disappointed. It’s a clean pool area and drinks served to you whilst you lap up the rays. Now the beach … out of action due to GOD It’s not the fault of the hotel. All beach areas are public so they have no control over this ! As you can see , just over a minute walk .. Sunbeds are out by 9am and your drinks are served from a mobile “ bike” With its onboard drinks cabinet. So at the time of our visit the beach was not how my mind portrayed it in my head .. white sands , walking down to a crystal clear blue sea. If you want this , then pop yourself off too the other beaches some 15-30 mins away and pay for the dream. The rooms are spacious and very clean.Only a shower , no bath. Bed is massive , so plenty of room to manoeuvre away from the fidgety partner ( you all know what I mean) Tea and coffee provided daily , saying that we woke up this morning and found , for the 1st time the pots were empty ! Jacuzzi on the balcony , nice touch ! Balcony is very big , which to us is a must. Unfortunately for this hotel it’s also a must .. There are NO areas outside the hotel to sit at apart from over the road where there are 6 chairs. This to me is odd. Finish your meal and then go outside for a nice glass of your favourite tipple and chat the night away !! You can’t and this I think is an easy fix. Move , stack the sun beds and stick some small tables and chairs out by the pool. Let’s face facts , the weather in England Is not as good as Barbados so we like to sit outside as we don’t get many opportunities to do so. Now , this is why the balcony needs its appeal as this is your outside area. Drinks are all good , food is hot and a reasonable choice. I don’t comment on food as this is a personal expectation. However the lunch menu outweighs the evening buffet which was served fir our 1st 8 days then al la cart for our last 3? Sister hotel .. you have to book this 24hrs In advance. Only 6 guests per day. Picks up at 11 drops you off and then picks you up between 4 and 5 . That was our choice ! You get a band as you arrive , then off you go. I can’t wait for that dream walk into the crystal waters from the white sandy beach.. Ahhhhh , there it is , perfect ! Lets ask for a sun bed. This then happened. “ what’s your room number please?” Room number given .. sorry your not on the list , I’m not from this hotel I’m from your sister hotel as I flashed my band “ oh” comes back throws 2 sun beds on the sand and shoved a brolly down. Sun beds are battered and old so don’t expect luxury.. !! Same again when going to eat !! “ room number please… “ What does that band do ? Service is awful , 60 mins for a burger and chips to be cooked and delivered , 15 mins wait for a gin and Tonic. My wife was ignored at the bar for about 10 mins while the 3 staff members chatted to an American guy. Oh , no sea weed .. but plenty of other weed , most Beaches have a “lucky lucky man “ selling wrist bands , hats etc. This beach has drug dealers. Doesn’t bother me. But I have no kids with me and I watched “ Grange Hill” “ Just say no” .. yes I’m old !! So , I would not return. But , once again that’s my personal choice. Others who have been did not have the same issues …. Needs a tweak but the staff save it Cheers Andreah best bar man award !! Please , any questions just ask.

I stayed for two nights. The hotel has a relaxed, laid back vibe…. As it should - it’s the Caribbean and everyone is on vacation. The hotel is very clean. The room I had (ocean view, second floor ) was large and spotless. The king size bed was comfy. there is a bar area with two bar stools and a small refrigerator. There’s a desk with chair. There is a spacious mirrored closet with safe and a dresser with four deep drawers. The toilet is a separate room with a sink. The shower room has a double sink. The water in the shower was always hot and has good water pressure. The towels were good - didn’t notice frayed towels which was a complaint in earlier reviews. There’s lots of outlets for electrical appliances and charging electronics. Strong wifi signal as well. The patio has a jacuzzi (didn’t use it) and two chairs and small table. If you get an oceanfront room ask for 4th floor The pool is small but adequate. The pool was busy during the day but I was always able to get a lounge chair. There are also umbrellas which provide the only shade until later in the day. The pool is right off the bar so it’s easy to get a drink when you want one. I didn’t see pool bar service. You can use the amenities of the sister hotel the Accra on the Beach. You have to book the day ahead. I heard it’s popular as it is a larger hotel and has two big pools. At the end of the day I enjoyed watching the sunset, with a sundowner, on the hotel’s patio which is just across the street. The street isn’t busy. There are a number of big chairs to sit in and enjoy the view. I also liked it there in the morning. The beach is about a two minute walk from the hotel. It’s Enterprise Beach. You can check it out on the Barbados beach webcams. When I was there the sargassum was all over the beach and in the shallow water so I didn’t get into the ocean. Where the seaweed occurs in barbados depends on wind and tide. It’s a here today gone tomorrow. And also depends on time of year. I heard there was very little sargassum at the sister hotel beach. The beach has a bar service so you don’t have to walk back to the hotel for water or a cocktail. An employee is on the beach from 10am to assist with chairs and umbrellas. The service is friendly and helpful. Andreah at the bar makes sure your glass is full. Sherisse and all the front desk team can answer all your questions. Shari and the restaurant servers are lovely and responsive. My room attendant, Theresa, was great. The food was good. There is a buffet at breakfast and in the evening. Lunch is Al a carte. I have celiac disease so can’t eat gluten. The chef prepared a few special meals for me which I really enjoyed. At breakfast there’s an extensive buffet and you can get eggs to order. My favourite meal was then a la carte lunch. I had the crab salad followed by the red snapper. Delicious and beautiful presentation. There’s set times for meals so food isn’t available all day long. Breakfast 7-10am, lunch noon- 2:30, afternoon tea 3-4, dinner 6:30-9:30. An earlier review likened the dining area to a cafeteria. I can see how it might appear that way because of its physical layout. However the food is certainly a lot better than what you’d get in a cafeteria!! The guests were also very friendly. Those I met were from England, Ireland and Canada. It’s a relatively small hotel ( 44 rooms) so you see the same folks often - at the pool , at the bar before dinner or at dinner. Overall I felt It was a confortable and relaxing stay for two nights before my cruise. Is it a luxury hotel? Certainly not in the category of the Fairmont or Sandy Lane or any other 5 star you might be used to. It’s far too casual to be in that category. But it’s clean and quiet and has all the amenities you need for a relaxed, barefoot, beach vacation. And the employees really make you feel welcome.

I returned home for a funeral and chose the Abidah on recommendation from a dear friend. The room was clean and the hotel is beautiful and modern. but the towels were terribly frayed and some of them had holes. The room also didn’t have enough towels. I’d give the food 2/5 as I found the food to be cold even at the buffet.

I was looking forward to a great experience at this all inclusive but it didn’t go as I wished. Towels with holes, frazzled towels, no face towels, the food was lukewarm and to the point by the time it got to your room the food was cold. The appearance of the hotel was nice the people was nice but the service wasn’t five star. I was disappointed for an all inclusive hotel…..

After having a bad experience on a cruise where my wife broke her back, we was put into the Abidah. I wanted to write about the staff who were just amazing, starting with Gregory, he couldn't do enough for us . He helped us through a bad experience and made us feel welcome. From the barmen, to waitresses, the staff who looked after our rooms. They couldn't do enough for us, they showed my wife real concern were fun to talk to and very helpful. And last the chef, best food I have ever had, it's like every day he prepares food like it's a special occasion, absolutely amazing. Especially the ribs. It doesn't seem enough but thank you all very much.

Food, Staff and environment totally amazing! We spent two weeks there and hated to leave. The guests were also pretty interesting. Would do it again in a minute. The exercise room could use a little help - mats, balls, but I never saw another user during our stay.
