We had such a good time at shades. Nice pool, garden and an outdoor space with a barbecue. The place was beautiful and the staff was vert nice and helpful. The apartments was clean and cosy. We absolutely recommend this place!

Our stay at Shades of Barbados in June was simply amazing. Rochelle, our host, was great from start to finish - she helped us book, arranged our pick-up from the airport, and looked after us throughout our stay. The apartment was spacious, very clean, and well-equipped. We loved having our morning coffee on the private veranda, overlooking the beautiful gardens. The pool was perfect for a quick dip or a relaxing day in the sun. The location of Shades of Barbados is perfect - just a 5-minute walk to the amazing Paynes Bay beach. Rochelle and her family went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable, relaxing and unforgettable - they helped us arrange dinner reservations and transportation and checked in with us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. I can't wait to return to Shades and experience everything this beautiful island has to offer. We were at Shades all of March 2023, the third time we have come, and the experience was again very good. It is an oasis. Other guests seem to be there for the same thing: beautiful grounds and pool and easy living in our independent apartments. The roosters, chickens, birds and monkeys come by but are not a problem. Walk 2 minutes to the beach, 5-10 minutes to several restaurants, 10 minutes to a great food truck and to the Sunday farmer’s market, 20-25 minutes to grocery stores. We had a well-equipped kitchen and access to a laundry. We'll be back.

Just a brief stay this time as was just a stop-over as we were travelling on to Bequia but it was as wonderful as it always is! Rochelle goes above & beyond to make you feel welcome & at home & is always available to help with anything you need. Our stay at Shades was excellent - can not fault a thing! The apartment is simple but perfect, very clean and well equipped. It is located on a residential street just a short walk to the beach and bus stops at the bottom of the road which brings you to the local towns. Perfect location! The main host Rochelle and all of her family was so lovely. Rochelle herself was extremely helpful, would order us a cab to where ever we needed to go and advised us on the places to go and see. During our stay, all of the family made us feel so welcome and because we was away for Christmas (for the first time) we was a little apprehensive but they made us feel so at ease and made it feel like home from home for us. They most definitely made our stay much more enjoyable! After a long 10 day holiday, we did not want to leave and was actually sad to say goodbye to the lovely family! We can not wait to return to Shades and already planning our next trip.…

Lovely clean apartment, perfectly located on a residential street. A short walk to the beach and bus stops at the bottom of the road if you want to go further afield. A very warm welcome from Rochelle and her family. Can't wait to return.

Shades is located within walking distance of the beautiful Paynes Bay beach. Rochelle made us so welcome, the apartment was clean and well equipped, theres a pool and qym area. The only thing I wished I knew before arrival was being able to pre order essential groceries, as we were on a late flight in.

We have been at Shades for almost a month now – we were here March 2020 which was supposed to be for a month when midway the pandemic called us back to Canada. 2022, we came back to do a do over. It has been great. Because of Covid, we haven’t done many outings, but we have felt safe outside Shades and have had great meals with locally bought stuff. We went out to several restaurants right around, including one spectacular one that requires staff & clients to be vaccinated. Local people will tell you to stay away and wear your mask. Only 53% of the population is vaccinated, but they are well informed and careful. The on-site Shades managers are discreet, attentive, and professional. We booked for 2023. Nuff said.

We're in first floor apartment (of a 2 story villa) with our own patio for breakfast, facing the garden. Simple but very nice and exceedingly clean in all parts of the complex including around the pool. Five minutes walk to gorgeous beach, warm clear clean water and sand. Although it's not on the beach it's quieter because it's away from the noisy road. Short bus ride with the natives to Tides or Paul Owens restaurants 75cents and taxi back $15.

My daughter and I stayed at Sades for 7 nights. We were quarantining and I can't think of a better place to be quarantined. We had a 2 bedroom apartment with a patio area, where we were able to sit out and enjoy the garden views and glorious sunshine. The Shades apartments are surrounded by exceptionally well-maintained gardens which really add a feel of the Caribbean, especially when you cannot venture far afield. From the patio we were able to see the sun setting. When we finished quarantining and were able to venture out, we were pleasantly surprised. Shades is ideally located. It is a short drive away from the popular Holetown, or for the more adventurous you can enjoy the walk. Shades is literally a few mins walk from the beach. The apartments offer a gym, swimming pool and laundry facilities. There is a gazebo where you can sit if the sun is too much. For those of you wanting beautiful and peaceful surroundings, away from the hustle and bustle, then Shades is the place to be. The hosts are friendly and professional and do all they can to make your stay enjoyable. I am really looking forward to going back when I can fully enjoy all that Shades have to offer.…
