We stayed in the most expensive cabin which was a bit of disappointment. While the bed was very comfortable, the sitting room was dark and uncomfortable. The bathrooms were antiquated, seemed to date from 50 or more years back. However, the shower was hot which was important to me. This is one of the few places that you will find a sink with separate taps for hot and cold water, very unusual. The cold water was really cold and fresh as you would expect in a cold place at 7500 feet elevation The wonderful thing about staying at the Bright Angel was the nearness of the Canyon. You can literally roll out of bed onto the Rim Trail which you can follow for miles if you so desire. You can also hike down into the canyon itself from here. The lodge is as you would expect, lots of wood, a gift shop and a nice restaurant with a solid breakfast. There is also a. Bright Angel History Room which I found fascinating. WiFi is limited to the lobby because reception in the Canyon area is weak. However, your cell phone will work almost everywhere. Since we only stayed one night, I felt we got the most out of our visit, not spending too much time getting to the main attraction. The El Tovar apparently has better rooms but there were nome available when we reserved although later we found out that many people had canceled.

This review is a bit overdue and I have to say that we had a wonderful time staying in Buckey’s Cabin. I tried my best to reserve the Presidential Suite at El Tovar that apparently was already sold out 5 months prior. I told the reservationist that I was surprising my husband and needed the second best option. He recommended this cabin. All I can is say is “wow”! The location is on the rim and you can see the sunrise/set while your laying in bed. Everything was spotless and we felt compelled to tip more than appropriate to show our appreciation. The cabin is really an extension of the Blue Angel Lodge which has a pretty decent restaurant and lounge to grab a drink. You are a 5 minute walk to El Tovar. Tours are good but you can easily drive to the Watchtower and Hermit’s Rest on your own. There is wildlife everywhere which is also a nice touch. I took off a star for food and tour options. We just felt like we needed more.

We stayed in an in-suite room in the Powell lodge (not a cabin or the main lodge). We were pleasantly surprised compared to some "historic" park accommodations we have been in. We didn't have issues with noise or paper thin walls, although we had a storage closet adjoining our room on one side. Room was clean with a comfortable bed and minifridge. Bathroom was small. As others have noted, wifi is very slow. We had no cell phone signal anywhere in the park, but could have been our carrier. Great central location to access Bright Angel trail (literally 50 feet away) and short walk to main lodge for dinner.

We recently took a family vacation to the Grand Canyon for my moms 60th birthday celebration. I was able to book rim cabins for us back in September. Her cabin even had a gas fireplace which was awesome because it was freezing when we visited! The cabins were spacious, had ample heat and hot water and all the amenities one could ask for. The Canyon rim was literally steps away from our doors. We got there at night so the next morning sunrise reveal was pretty spectacular! We toured around the entire area-there are tons of gift shops of course but there are also so many scenic overlooks to enjoy for free. Wish there was a bit more seating by the fire in the main lodge and also avoid the bar and restaurant they were not good AT ALL! But we still left feeling like it was truly a 5 star property despite disappointing food and beverage service. The rooms had fridges so we just drove to the large and fully stocked grocery store in the village (about 10 min drive) and made sandwiches and got our own wine. We also were able to drive down to Hermits rest for sunset and went to El Tovar for lunch which was really really good compared to Harvey Burger. I cannot recommend staying in the rim cabins enough.

Visited in March so crowds were not an issue like in summer. Our cabin was quaint and cozy, on the end, vice on the rim. Decorated nicely, lots of windows. Small refrigerator in the room, along w/ a small coffee pot with coffee and teas in the room. Shower stall pretty small, but, nice and clean. We were asked at check-in if we needed daily service and we declined service as we don't change towels at home every day wither. We were told to call if we needed anything like coffee or toiletries. We were good to go. Since we did this, first morning we were given 2 plastic water bottles to use around the park. We loved staying here and the easy access it gave us to the park, rim trails, and bus service.

Stayed in one of the cabins for two nights and overall it was a pretty good experience, despite some eye-rolling cutbacks. The cabin was in an awesome location steps away from the rim with easy parking included. It had definitely been updated somewhat recently and was really comfortable to stay in. The only reason I don't give it five stars is some of the "safety" measures they've implemented feel more like cost cutting measures that damper the experience. Taking the coffee makers out of the rooms does nothing for safety, and as far as I was aware there was nowhere to get coffee before 8am without driving out to Tusayan (part of the appeal of staying at the bright angel is to have the ability to easily get started hiking early in the morning). Additionally, completely closing or reducing the hours of the less expensive restaurants feels like they're just trying to funnel people into the most expensive restaurant, El Tovar.

Booked two cabins for two nights with one on the rim. Arrived about 2pm and check in was immediate with both cabins being ready. Lady at the front desk was very friendly and helpful.
The cabin on the rim was spacious with a nice view and maybe 50 feet to the rim trail. Sink is outside the bathroom, which is nice. There is room for a rollaway bed if needed, but we didn’t request one. There is a table with chairs in the room. There is plenty of heat, although those staying in that cabin said they turned it a bit higher than usual. There were also two doors to enter the cabin, with one being on the side.
The cabin not on the rim still provided a view and was maybe 100 yards or so to the rim trail. I don’t think all the cabins have a view and some are further from the rim. The cabin is smaller than the one on the rim, but room for two people. The sink is in the bathroom. The cabin was plenty warm on a lower heat setting.
Both cabins were very close to the Bright Angel trail. They look modern on the inside. They had queen beds, a small flatscreen TV, and a small fridge. There is no coffee pot, but plenty of outlets if you bring one or you can buy coffee at the lodge. The toiletries are in large bottles mounted to the wall. There is parking right in front or to the side of the cabins. You can hear some outside noise, but not enough to be bothersome.
Having stayed at several other locations in the park, the cabins are my favorite. Great location, plenty of room inside, and feel more private compared to a hotel room.

For reservations in high season, bookings a year in advance are recommended, especially when you want to have a room with private shower. It is a nice place to stay. The location can't be better, the service is very welcoming (thanks Christine in the bar, people at the reception desk, waiters in the restaurant). We could make our own coffee and tea in the room. Despite the fact there is a lack of staff in general (the restaurant had to close one day because of this problem), we enjoyed our stay. The shop is nice, too, I bought clothes there.

We stayed here during our visit to the Grand Canyon and could not be more happy with our decision. We stayed in a cabin queen, which had updated decor, was clean and warm. As indicated in other reviews, the shared wall is very thin and you can hear the others’ conversations easily which was a little annoying at night but we were prepared with ear plugs. The bathroom was small but clean and the amenities were better than some at a 3-star Marriott. We didn’t use the coffee maker as it was moldy, and the dinner at the restaurant here was terrible- wouldn’t recommend it at all. The Bright Angel trailhead is a 5 min walk from the hotel, which was super convenient. Overall we were impressed with and enjoyed staying at the Bright Angel Lodge and would recommend it to anyone visiting Grand Canyon!

We were a large party of 10 that experienced a range of rooms: cabin with a view, queen lodge, queen + twin lodge. The cabin was exceptional and worth the extra cost over the lodges. They are much more spacious with room for a table and two comfortable padded swivel chairs. We used our cabin as "the lounge" since the actual lobby had limited seating and none with pads. The cabin not only had the two chairs, but a bench that sat two. The room could easily have fit two queen beds in it, so it is possible to have a third stay on a rollaway or a blow-up mattress. We had a couple seniors in our group who loved to sit in the afternoon in the cabin with all of the windows open looking out at everyone along Bright Angel trail -- we were right on the trail across from the Lookout Studio! The only caution with the lodge rooms is to get one with a private bath. Some have shared baths and these were out of order in our lodge, so I assume others with these had to go to another building. Even if you get a lodge room with a bathroom, there is wide variability of these. Some have just a shower, and while some also have a bathtub, it is the older pedestal type with separate hand adjustments for hot/cold. The folks in our group with these indicated that it was difficult to adjust and mid shower would go freezing or scalding, which can be a safety hazard, particularly if you have seniors with mobility issues in the base case. Overall, staying at Bright Angel Lodge made our trip memorable and we would highly recommend it for the location and value. If possible, April was perfect timing with no crowds and ideal weather.

Keep in mind that rates are set by the National Park Service. When booking a National Parks hotel, it is best to book directly with the official concessionaire. In this case, you need to book with Xanterra, as they are officially appointed. They actually operate all the hotels in the Grand Canyon. If there are issues, you are dealing directly with the National Park Service's official concessionaire.
We stayed in a lodge room, only coffee maker & fridge. If you look on official Xanterra Grand Canyon website, it tells you what each type of rooms have, some only communal bathing facilities, so book wisely!

You'll only pay at the entrance gate - the $20 car fee, if you're driving. Within the park and at the hotel, parking is free.
Not to complicate this answer, but if you happen to be over 62, as I am, you can instead pay the same $20 for an "annual pass", good for Grand Canyon and many others. It is cumulative, so if you do this 4 times (each good for a year), you will never have to pay again (and it also covers your companions traveling with you in your vehicle). You can buy it when you arrive at any national park gate.
There are more places to choose from in the Grand Canyon National Park area.
