Recently visited Perth with family and stayed at the Ballathie hotel for two nights. Hotel is in a beautiful setting next to the river Tay, room was large, clean and welcoming with views over the extensive grounds Staff were warm and friendly and the manager Mark was both friendly and helpful. On our first night we had the 5 course evening meal which was excellent and on both mornings the extensive buffet breakfast was tasty and hot. Would highly recommend for a stay any time of the year.

This is the perfect place to get away from it all. The vista from the drive impresses with the baronial style building set among the trees with gentle hills rolling in the background on the other side of the River Tay. The attention to detail is immediately apparent on entering the lobby - we loved the old telephones and the displays of butterflies, antique brassware and taxidermy in the upper hall. The room was spacious and elegantly furnished, with a superb view of the Tay across the garden. The staff are excellent - from check in through to the bar, restaurant, breakfast and check out they were friendly, helpful and caring. Full marks too for the food - each course of the set three course dinner was beautifully presented and well cooked. We’ve stayed in a number of UK hotels this year but this is without doubt our favourite. We only wish we’d discovered it sooner!

We had two nights here to enjoy the beautiful Autumn colours in such a wonderful setting by the river Tay. Our premier room was on the 1st floor with a view of the river & grounds. It was spotlessly clean & spacious, with a huge bathroom. After reading previous reviews, we knew to expect something special , & the dinner menu certainly is. Make sure you have a good appetite for all 5 courses, because desserts are not to be missed!!! All the awards & accolades are well deserved. We were rather surprised however, to find that breakfast is served as a buffet. This is the first one we have encountered since covid restrictions, when they were not advised. Also, there were no other options on the menu eg smoked haddock etc which I would have expected. Despite that, we can certainly recommend Ballathie house.

We've just spent three nights at Ballathie. Lovely spacious bedroom looking over the garden and River Tay, with comfy armchairs and table to sit at beside window. Truly outstanding dinner, five courses for £52.50, with lots of unfamiliar but delicious tastes. Cosy bar for a nightcap. Excellent service from staff in all areas. There are extensive grounds where we had an enjoyable walk with lovely Autumn colours in the many trees. Brilliant value at under £400 for two of us (one night dinner bed and breakfast, two nights B & B). We will be back!

Booked 2 nights B&B staying in a Riverside room, ground floor, 2 minute walk to main hotel. Having stayed at Ballathie several times before we knew what to expect. Excellent compliance of covid guidelines, very impressed. Staff all friendly and attentive. The one negative comment is we do feel the Riverside rooms/building is now a little tired and requires some attention. Breakfast excellent, good selection. Will return in the future.
