Fantastic country house hotel. In a huge Park area, next to the river. Staff extremst friendly and helpful, lost our mobile phone in the hotel and they kept it for us. Food is super yummy. Several lange rooms on the ground floor, very cosy drawing room, dining room is spacious, too. Again, food is super and the overall atmosphere is comfy, cosy and stylish. I cant wait to return in March and thanks to everybody for a most pleasant stay
Superb hotel. If you like exemplary service, very good food, lovely location, big bedroom and a definite country house feel then this is the place to go. Value is also very high up as well. Yes, it's not the swish, fancy, styled hotel and costs twice, or three time as much, but that is the charm of the place. It is the perfect place to relax, unwind, chill out. There are numerous walks around the hotel should you need to get an appetite for the evening meal. Nothing was too much bother, nothing was too much hassle. There is no swimming pool, no spa, no massage rooms, no gym, but it doesn't need them. Perth is about 30 minutes away but there are 3/4 other eating places about 10 minutes away. The evening meal was too much for us so we just had a main course which was lovely and very well priced. Yes there are a few old and tired furnishings but that's the style of the hotel and I for one would not want it refurbished too much as then the price doubles and it becomes a different type of value. It has bedrooms in the main hotel as well as some out in an annex about 100 yards away. Those would be brilliant in the summer.…
My wife and I had another very pleasant stay at Ballathie. The staff were great, particularly Caroline and Martina and the food was excellent. Accommodation was comfortable although a bit “tired”. We will definitely return sometime, thanks again.
Great hotel, fantastic staff and such good food - loved it! Set in large grounds next to the Tay, a traditional Scottish country lodge with big rooms and log fires, a wee whisky bar and grand breakfasts and dinners, can’t praise it enough. Third time here, always memorable. Special mention to Jalal and his team, so welcoming and friendly.
Absolutely amazing. We just love this place. Stunning location, extremely friendly and helpful staff, top quality dinner and breakfast. We had a riverside suite - very clean and comfortable. We spent our mini moon here 20 years ago and were absolutely thrilled to see this beautiful hotel still retained its character and charm. A true credit to the owners. Looking forward to returning but not waiting another 20 years to do so.
A great short break at Ballathie. Great welcome, super staff, lovely room and exceptional food. What more could we ask? The room we had was needing a little bit of attention (eg some of the paintwork in the bathroom was needing redone, the door in the next room didn’t shut properly which led to our neighbours having to slam the door shut). Lovely grounds and on a frosty morning they were a pleasure to walk around.
Excellent hotel in a fabulous location on the banks of the river Tay in Perthshire, from your first impression at check in, to the room, meals and the bar small and friendly, staff are a credit to this hotel all and I mean all of them are fantastic, food was excellent very well presented a credit to the kitchen Staff, very comfy beds the room we were in the bed could have slept four no problem, will be back soon I hope, well done Ballathie.
Enjoyed four comfortable nights in this old country house hotel enjoying every minute of it listening and watching the birds around about and the river view was enchanting. Staff were very courteous and breakfast was a feast! Would love to go back again.
I've just left the hotel this morning and I'm sad to go. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by the friendly staff who have that personal touch. It's a relaxed atmosphere, not fussy or too formal. The house itself is full of curiosities. It has a rich history which the staff will happily relate. The bar area is very comfortable and cosy with a log fire. We stayed in room 14. It was very spacious with the feel of a suite. Some reviews have said the rooms are dated; Although I take the point I preferred to indulge the old world feel because in truth we had beautiful linens, fluffy towels, comfortable bed as well as generous comps in the modern large bathroom. The estate surrounding the house is spectacular in autumn. We took a walk along the river where we didn't see another soul, except a pheasant, a cat and signs of an elusive beaver. In the evening we ate in the hotel restaurant and I'm so glad we did because it was glorious food. We had fish for the main course and it was honestly the tastiest I've ever had. They got everything right. We then had a restful night in the quietness, with the river the only sound. I can't wait to go back.…
Our room (a classic double in the main hotel) was very drab and badly needing renovated. The dinner menu is 3 courses plus coffee for £60 a head with a very limited choice. There is no a la carte or pub alternative. The breakfast is buffet and very poor (the cooked items were hard & cold). Most of our fellow guests were fishermen who appeared to know the manager. However we were completely ignored and certainly did not feel special! An expensive couple of days that were very disappointing. We will not be returning.
